    The limits seem to be set partially by publishers instead of by solely Scribd. I've been able to read only 3 books a month from Simon & Schuster whether I choose ebooks or audiobooks. That limit has existed for every month over a year now. I read 17 ebooks and 4 audiobooks from the Goosebumps series in one month without having to wait for any of them. Self-published books seem to not have many limitations. Scribd Originals are fully unlimited. Magazines are sometimes completely unlimited and sometimes limited to only 1 or 2 issues a month. With some publishers it seems like popular books and books released in past 2 years are more limited than their older books.

    Great video! I also think they should be more transparent about the availability of books. I do have a subscription though (the old one and I don't want to cancel now because I would have to pay the new, higher fee next time :D) and I actually don't really use it for books I don't own. I mostly use it to listen to the audiobooks of my physical tbr, especially if they are either really long/bulky, or if the font is hard on my eyes. :)

    I finally got a handle on Scribd, I hope! When I first got it I made the mistake listing all my favourites on the Scribd site. They encouraged it. I had no real way to tell how many books I was allowed but I saw quite a few I couldn’t get elsewhere! I was cut off pretty quickly and my choices were limited to books I wasn’t interested in or had already read! I wasn’t allowed access to my list until the next month. I wised up and deleted my lists from the site. This month I just picked a couple of really great books at a time and I have had better luck in getting the newest books. These are all audiobooks. For books that I can only get as ebooks I go to kindle or kindle unlimited!

    wow, this was really interesting! I have scribd but don't use it super often ( I should probably stop my sub tbh) but it's crazy that it was so limited the more you listened to!

    I was just looking at Scribd this morning, and I was completely unaware of this issue. I’ll stick with Kindle and my library, thank you.
    Thanks so much for saving me $12/month!

    I definitely prefer kindle unlimited to Scribed /Everland- but I will go back to that site sometimes for books that I don’t want to buy and that are available on KU. And you’re right being honest about how many “special “ books we get would help you prioritize what you want to listen to/read.

    I had the same issue, I use it for audiobooks and I've noticed how every moths there's less and less books I can read. I send them an email and they said it's up to the publishier and they couldn't diclose those agreements which i find way too sus

    Great experiment! I use Everand as a backup for books that might not be available through my local online library. Most of the time I can find them. I think they are worth it. But wish they had a place to "suggest" titles.
    I would be curious to see a part 2 of this experiment for sure.

    This was really interesting! I've noticed before that some books I had saved were only available the next month but never really took proper notice of it. I tend to be a mood reader who doesn't save the books until I'm reading them and so I don't tend to run into the problem that they aren't available.
    Maybe they remove the saved books coz they know you want to read them so you'll stick around for the next month but you can still read books you haven't saved? Very interesting

    • @rananajjar
      @rananajjar  Před 7 měsíci +2

      I tried this trick where I looked up a book to see if it's available on Scribd and it was but I didn't save it. Then after Scribd removed everything from my saved list, I went again and looked it up and it wasn't there anymore

    I agree with you. I’ve just cancelled my subscription because I ran out of audiobooks mid November. The titles available are nothing I want to hear. I pay $12 a month and have decided it’s not worth it. I have tried to get a straight answer several times through email and Facebook but they are unable to unwilling. They just repeat the vague explanation of “ it depends on your reading history”.

    • @rananajjar
      @rananajjar  Před 7 měsíci +2

      That's really unfortunate because I love using it but the number of books I read isn't stable and not always what i want to read. I hope they improve in the future.

    I will love a part 2. Because I was excited to read three more volumes of the series I was interested in and it was available just two days ago and then they took it off my list. They took off a bunch of books and I thought for a second the app must of glitched and to find out. No they were still like bookmarked. They just removed it from my library. If you will. So I came on here on CZcams looking to see if anybody else was having this issue and I'm really happy that I found your video so it's not just like me or the app and I got hella pissed that I started looking into chirp.

    • @daishana4861
      @daishana4861 Před 7 měsíci

      Also, previously the three books I was listening to were at least 10 hours long so I don't know to that change it. So I was only able to listen to the three books and the rest of the series book are about 10 to 12 hours.
      Ask for what's available to me right now. Our audiobooks that are at least 2 hours to 5 hours long and nothing available besides one book that I've already read and that one's a 21 hour book but I haven't seen. Will it let me play it. I do tend to listen to books at a fast pace too. Not sure if that would affect it because I'm going through books faster.

    Thanks for sharing the honest truth about Everand (fka Scribd). I pay $11.99 plus tax every month and they’re limiting more books and audiobooks from their customers than they used to. I feel like it’s a scam so I just canceled my subscription renewal. More people need to know about this and your video is perfect with your explanation and the experiment you did. I really appreciate it. ❤

    If you please I chose one of books you mentioned main theme and author biography briefly here it’s hidden palace plot summary story set in New York City in 1900 , followes journey of chava ( golem ) and Ahmed ( jinni ) and challenges of livings among humans without calling attention to their respective surreal personal beings . Ahmed is jnni , restless creature of Fire once free roam desert but now imprisoned in shape of man . Featuring they be exposed as monsters , these magical beings hide their true selves and try to pass as human - just two more immigrants in busting world of 1900s Manhattan. As I read media review this novel is blend of romance Mary Shelley esque horror , folklore , wrecker the author continuing adventure of Chava Jewish Golem and Ahmed, Arabian jinni . Author successfully combines story lines of these and numerous others players , enchanting tale that though demanding lot of suspended disbelief. Helen wrecker ( born in 1975) she is American writer, author of mythopoeic award winning historical fantasy novel golem and jinn and its sequal, hidden palace. Iam so sorry to be little long but reading and writing both are great ways to improve our language as none native speakers. Thank you for your wonderful cultural channel .
