How Hotline Miami Speedrunners BROKE the Game’s Levels

- Hotline Miami is a game famous for its satisfyingly violent gameplay, but have you ever wondered what a speedrun of the game might look like? In this video, we explore six levels from Hotline Miami and how runners use various strategies and glitches to get the best times.
#hotlinemiami #speedrun #glitch - Hry
as one of the runners being represented, this is a really good video and it's nice to see hotline getting more attention now
i'll just quickly point out some minor details:
6:31 - opening the door makes the alerted enemy see the player faster. it doesn't affect his hearing
10:35 - other than getting biker stuck, you must've pressed the execution button after getting up the lift. if jacket is stuck, the game will try to teleport him to the last saved position, which would be the last time you've pressed the execution button, essentially to prevent the player from getting stuck after executions
Ah, I saw some of your tutorial videos. Thank you for correcting my mistakes, the Biker fight makes a lot more sense now. Glad you liked the video!
Great video, Appreciated the fact that you did not over use the rewind edit for all of the levels, or else it would've been too long and boring to watch all the time. Love both games
Thanks for the input! Yeah, I thought it was a cool edit but unnecessary to do every time. Loving both games is valid.
@@jobee1360 I think it's annoying. Doesn't bring anything to the table.
The scary part is if every ability is grounded in the lore then this is actually how good jacket is.
10:14 "Toss the crowbar"
Lol my friend informed me of that mistake after I uploaded it and I said no one would notice. Happens to the best of us, thanks for your comment :)
@@jobee1360 Well, I didn't notice so
ironically speedrun looks like that's the way hlm should be played
It's so cool that they made a TF2 hat into a REAL game!
They turned the guy from Payday 2 into a horrific moral story of violence! 😮
What?
@@I-mourHe's from hotline miami.
@@TonyTheReliable *Yes*
@@TonyTheReliable No they just found that mask interesting and made it into a game
I have completed this game around 10 times, platinum'd it and it's sequel, and I NEVER knew you could shoot through the yellow walls oh my god
4:20 what in the badassery is this
I've beaten the game twice just casually and I never knew you could take an enemy as a human shield or that you could go out on the window on 'clean hit'
I think I may had taken a human shield once accidentally but never used it until speedrunning. Just goes to show how you never know everything about a game.
this is a really good video for such a small channel! the graphics you used to demonstrate the strategies were a nice touch
You earned a sub man, honestly I like both games a lot but I gotta give it to the hotline miami 1 Jacket not knowing anything about what’s really going on makes the story so interesting.
Thanks so much! You bring me one step closer to success. Hotline Miami 1's story does have a great mystery, but personally I like 2's weaving narrative a bit more.
Thank you for this audio-visual masterpiece!
Wow that was really fun to watch. Great job dude!
Amazing video! Probably the first time i wasnt actually bored by a HLM video
Great video! I genuinely love when these come out and get excited, video was really well made and I can't wait for the next one. I prefer the gameplay of Hotline Miami 1 and I prefer the story of Hotline Miami 2
frankly those runs are incredible considering how brutal the rng can be, also a comment on clean hit, you theoretically could kill both these guards on the second floor via spraying, I did it before and I am not a speedrunner, the issue being that you are just doing it blindly for the most part, at least that would be what I suspect.
fantastic video, would wish you would make more videos on hotline miami speedrunning but that is on you my man, (also I like to call the infamous hot&heavy room the HLM2 room considering the abundance of windows and guards you can't see). subbed!
Thanks for your feedback, it's much appreciated! This video is doing well, so it isn't unlikely I'll do another in the future 😉
It's nice after 9 years of running to see someone finally decide to use a visualization of enemies in a video, kudos
Phenomenal presentation and explanation of the video!! also didnt know you could shoot through the yellow walls til this video lol
Me neither! Speedrunning teaches you a lot about a game you thought you knew.
8:56 haven't heard blistering in that context for millennia. Gangrene.
I love how people made what can be fast already even faster. The dedication of people is amazing
Great video! Hot line Miami was always an interesting game to me! Seeing how people speed run it is really interesting!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it interesting.
great vid dude, love both these games to death
Hey, absolutely nothing wrong with loving both. Thank you 😊
i’m surprised u don’t have a million subscribers man, i hope to see a hlm2 speedrun video and maybe a cuphead one too
Thanks! Will have to see about a Hotline Miami 2 video 🙈
Another great video, Jobee! Keep it up, bro! ❤
Thanks! Your support means so much.
Great video man. Keep up the good work and I’m sure your channel will grow
Thanks! I sure will.
great video, man
quality stuff
Thanks! I'll try to continue making quality stuff.
@@jobee1360 the quality committee approves
Very great video bro, hotline Miami is very under rated
i remember spending 2 agonizing hours on the stage with the 4 cubicles 😂
Same bro, same 😭
This effect of going back is really cool. Kinda wish it was a thing in the game, as the game would record your run and backtrack what you did when you died and restarted
great vid, I was shocked you're such a small creator. Good luck!!!
Trying my best, it's definitely a marathon not a sprint. Thank you!
Scary how systematic this all is. Hotline Miami truly is a horror game.
no way you only have 250 subs, road to 1k!
Here's hoping 🤞
What’s up with the baked in subtitles?
CZcams has a perfectly unusable subtitle system that allows them to be turned off.
I absolutely adore this game. Speedruns go hard
Great edit!
Thanks!
i really don't understand how if i tried to do half of that the enemies with guns would just insta shoot me as soon as they saw me
Great content
Thank you!
I just realized how doesn’t he have Don Juan
Cool video
good vid
good map
hotline miami is just my fav
Based.
13:25 So I really should try this out...
yoooooooo hotline miami
nice video
make a vid about hotline miami 2 speedrunning too.
Also why do u have only 200 subs? u desevre atleeast 20k.
(btw because u asked i prefer 2)
If this video does well enough, I just might 😉
I like the second game more because of its music. The game has a special place for me for introducing me to the greatest artist of all time. Carpenter Brut!
Interesting, I like the second game more but for the story. Everyone's got their reasons, the music is a bop.
@@jobee1360i like the second game more gameplay and story wise
you dont need to open the door on decadence to get the guy outside. best time is like 6 seconds
Thank you for correcting my mistake. 9 seconds was the best time to my knowledge, and I thought you couldn't go any faster because you had to wait for the guard at the wall. Could you link me a video of someone doing the skip faster?

YOU CAN HUMAN SHIELD WHAT
It's crazy how much you can still learn about a game you thought you knew for years
f hotline miami 2 all my homies play hotline miami 1
nice 🗿🐔
Awesome video 🌈🌈🌈
Thanks so much! 😊
i actually hate both of the games but the speedruns are funny
Why you hate this games?
@@Random-qd1cqi dont like em
Your rewinding of each floor before each explanation is extreamely annoying and useless. Don't do it again please.
I'm sorry you found it annoying, thank you for your input.
@@jobee1360Ignore that dude. Your video is top tier. My jaw dropped when I saw your sub count. Genuinely some of the highest quality speedrun breakdown I've seen on CZcams.
The rewinds are a nice touch and aren't overused either
