Chenrezig with homing pigeon is so damn funny. I left my phone on the mouse button and let it go for a while just to see how many bullets I could get in a single magazine. I reached about 2500.

I just realized why I was getting more bullets than I started with using Homing Pigeon, thanks

Impossible mode is so goddamn hard. I've been playing it nonstop for the last several days. I've made it through 5/7 areas twice, dying to Mr. Manslaughter once and Deabrua once. It's crazy how fast you die in this gamemode. My advice to people trying to beat this gamemode:
    LOADOUT:
1:) Get rid of all LMGs from your loadout except the BR6. Once you find one BR6, you can just carry it from room to room so that you are always guaranteed to have it in boss fights. Other than that, enemies with LMGs are just too dangerous and will kill you very quickly.
2:) Get rid of all SMGs. Again, since enemies have much less health in impossible mode, DPS is not a concern, so we don't need them. And, enemies with SMGs are simply too dangerous.
3:) Keep all rifles except for the optional sniper rifle. This means that Blood Donation is much more effective when you find it.
4:) Keep all shotguns except the sawed off and blunderbuss, because these will one-shot you (I'd also get rid of the AA-12 as well since it can be very unpredictable). Though enemies with shotguns can be dangerous at close range, shotguns are ridiculuously good in impossible mode (ESPECIALLY with the Packed Shells drink) because all you need is one pellet to hit an enemy and they'll die. This means you can reliably take out two or three enemies in a single hit.
5:) Keep all the pistols except the Glock 18. Pistols are the least threatening weapons in the game and we want our enemies to be as harmless as possible.
    ADVICE FOR DRINKS:
1:) Because we don't need to worry about our damage output in impossible mode, drinks that increase damage at the expense of other attributes (Black Market, Clarity, Flying Squirrel, Heavy) will hurt you more FAR more than they'll help you. Though the 20% damage boost from Enloudener might seem like it would be worth it just for the boss fights, you will be swarmed with so many enemies at once in the rooms that you will just die there instead.
2:) Focus is the key to survival in the rooms in impossible mode. Prioritize drinks that give you more time in focus (Time Tumbler, Energy Transfer, Aperture, Grey Matter, Rehab).
3:) After Focus, health and healing are the next most important thing. Rabid, Field Medic, Bloodweiser, Hair of the Dog, Animal, Healthcare, Blood Donation, Hound's Blood and Chain Mail are all definitely a good idea. (But not Turtle, see below)
4:) Grenades can be useful for quickly clearing rooms. But, because explosive hits will basically one-shot you in impossible mode, drinks that introduce more and bigger explosions or increase the effectiveness of grenades (Packed, Party Trick, Grenade Prince, Clemens, Cadaver, Cliche, Ordnance) are very dangerous and I would avoid them.
5:) Get the Halo drink as soon as you see it. It's cheap and it will SAVE. YOUR. ASS.
6:) This seems like a no brainer, but the Capitalism drink will make you in in one or two shots to basically anything. Do not use it.
Other drinks that are good in normal mode but not as good in impossible mode
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    i) I would personally avoid the Turtle drink. The extra 25% health really doesn't mean much in impossible mode because enemies can kill you in one or two seconds regardless, and the reduced speed will just make you easier to hit. It also makes the sludge fired by the enemies in the Boundless Hallways that much more lethal.
ii) Though the Choke drink improves shotguns considerably in normal mode by making it easier to one-shot enemies at range, it actually makes them worse in impossible mode, because it makes it harder to take out multiple enemies at once.
iii) Again, because damage is not a concern, Drop On, Mass Accelerator, Freerunner, Hot Swap, and Statue's Gamble (and even Pocket Ace) are all basically a waste of money. The slight boost they give you in the boss fights is not worth the cost. Fidelity might be worth it for the boss fights, as long as it's not possible to make your damage output so low that you don't one-shot enemies anymore. I haven't experimented with it. I also don't think Adrenaline is worth the money either.
iiii) Because guns only come with one magazine (unless you use the Reserve drink), the Practiced drink is close to useless. It will only help you in boss fights, but since the BR6 (which you should be using in boss fights) reloads quite fast anyway, this just isn't a big concern.
    v) This depends on your loadout, but if you've gotten rid of all SMGs as I have, Chenrezig is no longer that good.
Other drinks that aren't that good in normal mode that are very good in impossible mode
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    i) The Shhh drink really gives you a lot more breathing room in impossible mode because it makes it less likely that you will be swarmed by enemies. It also means you'll get the first shot off a much higher portion of the time which just increases your likelihood of survival.
ii) As mentioned before, the Packed Shells drink makes shotguns insanely good in impossible mode. Expect to regularly kill 2, 3 or even 4 enemies in a single shot.
iii) The increased movement speed from Meter really helps a lot. It also makes the Turtle drink viable. It's definitely a good one to use.
iiii) Becuase enemies die in one hit, you're going to be firing fewer bullets and breaking less stuff in the mansion. This makes Insurance Policy even better.
    v) Again, because enemies die in one hit, the Soul drink can cause chain reactions that will kill multiple enemies at once. Use it.
vi) Once again, because enemies die in one hit, the Automation drink is RIDICULOUSLY good in impossible mode.
    PLAYSTYLE AND OTHER TIPS:
1:) Take nothing for granted. The slightest mistake WILL GET YOU KILLED. Use focus even when you don't think you need to.
2:) This is kind of cheating, but if you get to the bar and you don't like the drink selection, you can save and quit and then hit continue and it will restock the bar for free. This is probably a bug in the code and I won't be surprised if it gets fixed in the future, but it works for now.
3:) As mentioned at the start, if you find a BR6, take it with you from room to room that way you are always guaranteed to have one for the boss fights.

This is a lot more strategy than I employed. Imo, Sliver + Hair of the Dog + Turtle + Halo + Blood Donation along with some damage for shredding bosses faster will win a run. Economy drinks early can help get you the drinks you need. Just play at a pace that keeps combo. In later areas, you can cheese enemy AI by the fact that they will stack on the last spot sound was heard (given they don't spot you on the way there).

All the damage boosters are good in Impossible against bosses. Being able to quickly kill a boss before they get off annoying attacks helps a lot. Most of the explosive attacks from the bosses will oneshot you, or put you close to death, so being able to DPS burst them and kill them before they do it is a substantial benefit. Try a combo like Chernezig, Drop On, Statue's Gamble Greaser and the Challenge SMGs and you can walk up to the boss, stand still, and fry them extremely fast, even faster than the BR6 (unless you get something like Rambo and Box Mag) and Black market isn't too bad and means weapons like the M2 (with normally low damage, negated by Impossible mode, and high ammo capacity) are very strong at clearing floors without having to worry too much about ammo count.

as someone who got the game like 2 weeks ago, and hasnt beaten more than 2 bosses, this is impressive. but im curious about y ur not using grenades as much, is it just a preference thing or is there a gameplay reason for it?

i am bad with them and the explosion will one-shot you in impossible mode. also, guns one-shot enemies in impossible mode so there isn't much use for grenades in it. very useful for a sober run, though.

    • @relpda_dn2536
      @relpda_dn2536  Před rokem +4

If you mean enemy reaction time, they begin firing at you when they either see you or hear you (either shooting, door kicking, or walking fairly close by). In larger areas, I don't think they hear a door kicked down if they are far enough away from you, so you can reasonably walk closer to them given they don't turn around.
They also have to turn around to shoot you, so you have more time to get shots in if an enemy is facing away from the door you're entering than to it.
I've played this game a bunch and haven't really noticed enemy reaction time outside of when they decide to fire at you before you enter a room. It feels the same to me, hyper modifier or not.
