"I went home and punched my cat in the face" was the best review
😁😁😁😆😂🤣 who wrote that? It's awesome!
ROTFL lol
I also liked Kermode referring to the last minute edit as being like "rearranging deck chairs on the titanic"
@@ohbears439 Kermode sucks and that one is very generic and overused.
@@ohbears439 "rearranging deck chairs on the titanic" -- that is a pretty old expression. Still good, though.
My favorite part in Dark Fate was when Arnold sacrificed himself for the good of humanity. It was just as compelling the fourth time.
Carl's whole existence is a middle finger to the 2nd movie.
The reason "Bob" let himself be melted down was so Skynet could not be created. And yet Carl sticks around for years and Skynet never comes from it. So really Bob's sacrifice was not needed and one the best Terminator moments in the franchise is rendered utterly pointless.
@@connorwood9211 the funniest part is reading your comment, realizing your phone probably auto corrected Carl to Bob (for some wierd reason) and you just ran with it. Cuz I'm over here like who da fuck is Bob?
@@zom8680 his phone didn't autocorrect anything. He's refering to the Terminator from T2 as Bob.
@@zom8680 At one point in T2, the T-800 was named Uncle Bob. It was an ok way to distinguish Dark Fate's "Carl" from the one in T2.
@@connorwood9211 It was also alright for "Pops" to stick around for decades. I suppose when you're desperate to use Arnold, the logic of the plot is a worthy sacrifice. I'm glad this franchise is done.
What I’ve learned from this year: Hyper realistic humanoid animals are only popular in 2D not 3D
Uncanny valley be a big ol bitch
Thank you
i think they look pretty cool
Sonic happily drinking a cup of tea now he's been redesigned*
They're competing against nostalgia and that's a hard battle to win.
"Which movie should have bombed?" shows clip from Lion King 2019.
Couldn't agree more.
I don't understand why so many people went to see that when the animated film is perfect and exists and you can watch it for no money at home
The Lion King is the worst!
It's not even that bad people overreacting lol
@@Anthonycheesman33 it would at least have been more interesting if it really bad. as it is, it is just so... adequate, that its just boring. just a soulless shot for shot remake of the original which was already perfect. imagine if someone remade the mona lisa with realistic modern cgi so it looks like a photograph.
@@404cp if you never saw the original cartoon I could see people oving this .i've seen soulless remakes black christmas lol lion king just wasnt one for me anyway.
Someone actually greenlit Cats, That is something real that actually happened
From what I have heard, the plot is worse than the animation. They had to sit down and watch it, before release. Then everyone said, we are good here, nailed it
I don't understand why Universal would want to buy this movie or fund it. Either way it is still confusing
Perhaps in years to come they could make a Producers/ Disaster Artist hybrid about the production of CATS. That's the story we need to see.
@@rascoehunter3608 Cause the theater version made $4+ billion. But it was actually good.
@@ed-te1fp I was talking more about the creation of this movie.
_"You kids are too young to remember that but your parents are gonna hate it."_
*~ said by Peter Griffin listening to "Memory" from CATS: The Musical*
They should have made Cats R-Rated and put nipples on all the cats...
@@elbaecc Freak. 😜
@@elbaecc decent
Mr. Friendship I’ve seen you on every video that has to do with CATS
@@cappyjones Look, all I am saying is, if Batman and Robin can get nipples and ass-cracks in the 90s, why not Cats in the 2010s, ye know...😜
The list is missing Charlie's Angles (2019), Shaft (2019) and The Angry Birds Movie 2; three properties that have passed their expiration dates.
Oh fuck I totally forgot about that Charlie's Angels attempt hahahaha
I forgot that Charlie's Angels existed
Nick Stadler didn’t James like angry birds movie
I don't think Charlie's Angels is past it's expiration date, I think that they've just had too many failed attempts, the focus was more on the soundtrack, the cast wasn't compelling as well as the previous 2 films being cult classics.
Considering the fact that the soundtrack has Ariana Grande on it
Edit: Should have mentioned but you need to double a film’s budget to account for marketing, that’s how a lot of these are still bombs.
Anything that should or shouldn't be on this list? Also have a safe and happy New Year.
Does The Irish(Boredom)man count?
Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker
star wars feels like sharknado now
What movie is that with the dad from "License to Drive" with his head in the fridge?
@@startupstudios4262 Legend has it that Bruce Willis stared in a Chinese movie that is actually called "The Bombing". It made a killing.
Please make a list of the biggest box office surprises for 2019. I remember at least one video made at the end of 2018 (not by you guys, I think) that predicted the biggest flops for 2019. Among those it predicted Battle Angel: Alita would only make like $20M domestically and only around $100M world wide. That movie ended up making over $80M Dom., and over $400M WW. Were there other movies that were expected to under perform in 2019 that actually did quite well?
I saw Dark Phoenix and I completely forgot it came out this year
You hated it ? For me i enjoy it
Dark Phoenix hurt me to watch, I couldn't believe how awful it was.
Is that supposed to be a bad thing?
Lol when I read your comment I thought it came out in 2017.
@@JJJameson. Yes.. you dont want people to forget your movie...
Another movie which i think was made in 2019 is "The Fanatic" starring John Travolta.
Budget = $23 Million
Box office = $3,153
HISS what the fuck I never heard of this and I looked to up to double check and oh my god. I haven’t laughed that hard in weeks
Damn bruh, that blows
Maybe they didn't count it because it only had a brief cinema release and then went to streaming. Even so, that's an embarrassing box office take...
John Travolta is way passed his prime of being in good films. He's like an A lister that fell to B-rate film.
Wow. Just...Wow.
If they used actual cats on the movie i would have watched it
thecrow48154 Or more cat like humanoids. You can put a cat head with larger eyes for obvious reasons, a furry coat all over the body with claws instead of nails and maybe digitigrade feet. That would look A LOT better.
Or like you said, just use real cats.
@@rac1equalsbestgame853 i was thinkimg like actual cats and kittens in little suits and stuff haha i would have payed good money to see that
You a stupid ass lil bitch.
"The kid who was going to attempt to become a king"
I didn't even get that far.
I forgot that movie exists
Lion king!!!!!
oh yeah he putted the sword back and didn't become king *clickbait*
Honorable mentions !!!! Charlie’s Angels , men in black international
Almost forgot about that movie too
American Viewers: Who would want to post a video at 2 in the morning?

You said it chewie
It's PC gone mad!
Hey George Lucas how dare you sell out to Disney you should’ve took less money and sold the 20th Century Fox at least its would still exist least RIP 20th Century Fox
Doctor Sleep is legit in my top ten for movies of 2019, I absolutely adored it! Granted, it could be because I love Stanley Kubrick's The Shining as well as Stephen King's writing, but the movie was just such a perfect blending of the two; it did not deserve to be a flop
I am 100% with you on this.
Yeah it actually hurts to see it here, especially being surrounded by so many poor films.
It was a great movie I just saw it, 9/10 my 4th favourite movie of this year
Got to agree, Doctor Sleep is the only movie I've been to see at the cinema twice this year and then immediately started reading the book. I thought it reconciled the differences between King and Kubrick's The Shining's fantastically as it could have been such a mess trying to be a sequel to both. I'm hoping this one will be a slow burn with people and finally find it's audience.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and I was really suprised that it bombed. Plus I also enjoy the Shining too!
Where’s “ARTIC DOGS”
Budget: 50 Million
It made: 700k
It has James Franco, Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin and other A list celebs
Never even heard of it
the1onlyteagro exactly, they spent pretty much $5 on marketing in the form of a couple social media accounts, it was a trainwreck
The cold brew didn’t hit
Arctic
“It’s getting patched and a new version is being sent to cinemas”
“Like a video game DLC”
No... like a video game patch lol
i mean with the state of video games rn companies selling a patch isn't out of the question
I really hope this is the only movie that gets a patch or else movies will become video games where they aren't ready until 1 yr later after release. Looking at you, "No Man Sky" Fallout 76"
@@DjAirsurfer *COUGH COUGH* Paradox Interactive *COUGH COUGH*
I mean, a patch is by definition downloadable content for your game, but I know what you're saying.
KorriTimigan then why even say anything lmao? It’s like popping up and saying “running is technically moving, just like walking!”
"CATS is the extended cut of the hell-dimension video log they find on the ship in Event Horizon."
We better send another expeditionary team to find my sides in the orbit of Neptune right away.
endgame made around $15 million a minute. thats more than most of these movies made for the whole film
end game was a horrible movie... this example shows that even if a movie is bad with alot of flaws it can still do well in the box office.
Richard Walker a horrible movie?
I'm still gutted about The Kid Who Would Be King - I met the director for an interview about it in February and he was just the best, really nice to talk to and he clearly cared so much about the movie and put so much effort and heart into it (and I loved it! Worth seeing, it feels like an earnest throwback to 80s kids movies)
“What do you think SHOULD have bombed” - Shows footage of Lion king. Subtle.
It’s really disappointing that Doctor Sleep flopped, it was genuinely good and one of my favourite films of the year
Ikr! That movie didn't deserve to be a bomb.
It had a budget of 45 million only too. I think it may make back its money in streaming licensing and hard copy sales. It made 71 million world wide, so it only needs to make a few extra million to break even.
I loved Doctor Sleep!
I had no idea it was on.
@@y3ee3e The movie looks amazing for that. Great effects, amazing cast. Loved it, even though it's by far not as scary as the Shining.
I honestly don’t know why “the kid who would be king” didnt do better
Maybe marketing? I have never even heard of it before this video. I dont even think it hit theaters in my area.
@@MisterMonsterMan where you live because all I would see is the ad on me phone and tv
I think it was marketing. I loved it, and I'm 50. :) So I guess it had a tough problem with branding. Shame too, because it had a lot of heart... something most of these box office bombs didn't have.
It freaking rocked. Was gutted it tanked.
It was too woke.
Doctor Sleep probably would have made more money if they called it "The Shining 2".
i agree
Agreed.
Or The Shining: Doctor Sleep
I honestly forgot there even was a new Hellboy movie.
you're lucky. I watched the first half and called it quits.
Let's pretend there wasn't.
when it was coming out i had actually had hype for this movie
I somehow finished it with my friends and we all absolutely hated it we wanted to love it and i praised the practical effects but damn it's so bad they just blatantly copy infinity war too for most of the plot but there are no real stakes that matter, "we have to stop the witch before she is assembled or the world is doomed" , " uh oh she's back but now she needs to do this first" , "she's done that but she still isnt ready now we gotta stop her from doing this then the world ends" really? Who fucking cares and Hellboy is a passive hero that doesnt wanna help or do shit and has to be forced along for the ride yeah really compelling shit
0:58 Anything with James Corden in it is a hard pass.🙅♂️
Release the Corden cut
@@metetural9140 I would exit a plane midflight if anything with Corden was playing
Oi Gavin & Stacey is a delight okay. The Christmas special saved the TV viewing that day
Peter Rabbit is just ok.
His uk tv stuff is fine
I would've liked to see some of the disney live action stuff to bomb.. cuz i'm tired of seeing them. Really tired.
@Duaij Al-Qallaf dumbo didn’t do as well as they wanted it to be.
Hey you, watch what your saying yeah? Dumbo did extremely well at the Box Office.
Dont see them 🤷🏼♀️
@@haroldross4362 No it didn't, it barely made more than double it's budget.
@Harold Ross the other live action Disney movies made more than a billion Dumbo made only 350 million.
what should have bombed? every "live-action" disney remake.
Titiana Rasputin lion king was absolute shit. Even my girl who is always has to find the light in everything had bad things to say about that garbage pile
Why can’t they leave the Disney movies alone
People loved "The Shining", they just had no idea that "Dr. Sleep" was a sequel. Also the new Hellboy was not good at all.
Oh boy I can't wait to see the 2020 version of this video....
I’m so glad “CATS” failed because the indsutry learned their lesson and won’t do something like it again
czcams.com/video/lhckuhUxcgA/video.html
Just like with the god awful Ghostbusters reboot from 2016, now we're getting an actual third film, after 31 years!
Odyssey, you poor soul. You have no idea. After the emoji movie failed, they were planning to make a FIDGET SPINNER MOVIE.
Lipton Ice tea Jesus Christ. The movie industry is not learning their lesson
My friend...there are SIX Baby Geniuses movies. SIX.
The Weekly Planet/MrSundayMovies/Suggestible is probably the best thing I discovered this year. Thank you
Dr Sleep and Alitta might be the 2 most underrated films of 2019.
Alita is trash. Doctor sleep was meh
I need a million interviews with every single person who worked on Cats. I need to know who, I need to know how, and I need to know why.
Enigma Ratsel executive coke heads, executive coke heads, and executive coke heads.
12 minutes of "I didn't see that movie"
Right when The Playmobil Movie was released in the US, the IMDb page for it in the parents guide said there was someone who called another the n-word, but it was quickly changed.
2:51 is that Bovril? The most delicious of food as James and Mason can account for.
Yes!!! Hahaha. The Bovril beef (drink) continues....
You can't drink a pint of Bovril.
I was about to ask why this was released at 3 am but I now realized that its 7 pm in Australia
And it's 10:11AM in Kaliningrad, so really, I'm supposed to be at work
Wait a minute! I like playmobil and I am perfectly normal!
Don't look into my fridge though.
I’m surprised arctic dogs wasn’t on here
Wasn’t that like the worst preforming animated movie of all time?
Not just animated it's of all time
I’ve never even heard of thay
Firewing 2250
*exactly*
The Cold Brew hit too hard
Doctor sleep was so good
One of my favorites of the year
The end of the last video was like a marvel post credit scene
I totally forgot hellboy even came out.
Feels like most of these didn't even come out this year
@@connorwood9211 Thats what i was thinking
To BE fair, it's a nice gorefilled hellboy. I liked it
It's the one movie on this list I think I will watch at some point. I like a bit of bloody supernatural action, and Mila Jovovich can be pretty good.
Playmobil was literally in my local theater for a week then removed entirely
Happy new year guys from a fellow Aussie!
Thanks for all the great vids and podcasts this year!
James get your blood pressure checked haha
I’ll miss you guys in January, but thank you for the great videos in 2019. And Mason I’d watch you read the phone book in your car :-) Happy new year!!!
Honestly the thought of Maso doing a video to take over James for a bit sounds like the best thing ever

I liked Hell boy ,especially when he kills the posh fox hunting killing troll killing English knobs
You guys make me laugh so much man😂
Amazing content as always
Blade runner 2049 is amazing. I honestly adore that movie, start to finish. Every frame is a work of art, and ryan Gosling has never been better
I just finished watching the biggest box office hits when I got the notification!
Cats is like the video log on the event horizon. That one killed me

Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales is actually pretty good if anyone's interested.
When the movie is being reedited while it's playing in theaters you know it's bad. (Cats)
That edit where you discuss the divergent visions of Tim Miller and James Cameron and show the T-Juan Thousand splitting in two was genius.
"What do you think should've boomed?"

I wish that Aladdin, Dumbo, The Lion King, and Maleficent had all failed miserably
I'm sick of melissa McCarthy being in every comedy of recent. She isn't good
The last good movie she was in was Spy, which worked with her style.
Hmm interesting observation. Is she at least likable?
@@Mattv93 Maybe as a person, but her schtick almost reminds me of a less funny Chris Farley.
She needs to stop being in movies by her husband
“69million in the box office”
“Nice”
Happy New Year!
Ay ay ay ay!
Cats should’ve been a movie about the broadway play like , “Noises off”
Noises Off is a great slapstick comedy film ☕
there was a Hellboy movie in 2019? who I saw like no Promotion for that.
Thanks Mr Sunday Movies, I guess I didn’t need to sleep tonight
I work in Barnes & Noble, so when we were told to put Doctor Sleep on a bunch of displays I figured there was a mini-series in the works or even possibly a movie in talks to come out in the next year or 3 but would probably be cancelled. I had no idea there was a movie that actually came out until today.

Woah there American, yiu lost to a bunch of farmers with our Russian made weapons
Therminator: Emu Invasion
Terminator 7: Emu Shinning
Some one compared Cats to the hell log scene from Event Horizon. That is perfect.
I just watched a 2 minute ad before the clip started, then as soon as #10 was done I got another 45 second for the same thing, followed by a 5 minute ad for something else.. enjoy that YT revenue, James and Maso, my NYE present to you! :-)
Agree, Hellboy was fun, not good, but fun, and not turd.
Gemini Man is literally a copy of a direct to DVD Van Dam movie from 1998
My life bombed pretty hard. Hahaha. another cocktail please

Wow, I wouldn't even want to attempt to watch cats. CATS DOES NOT KINDER JOY, LOL
I like 90s action movies.
I for one enjoyed hellboy 2019 lol
Agreed, I think after Cats came out, people who actually liked Hellboy are starting feel brave enough to admit that they like the film
Titanus_SebaRex i just enjoy anything hellboy really it must be blind love lol 😂
Half and half
Hated the final act
You forgot about the fanatic with John travolta. I think it only made like 6 grand😂
1000% Cats is a 'Producers' type situation.
I mean come on, there's no way that those effects got through that many people and they all said; "yep, those are fine (and definitely not nightmare fuel) lets put that in cinemas"!
Why was the Lion King a smash hit? Sad
Anything starring Tiffany Haddish I refuse to watch. She is the worst and most annoying actor I’ve ever seen
She isn't an actress really. She plays the exact same character in everything. Foul mouthed, ghetto chick. She just plays herself
You should watch Lego Movie 2. You won’t see her but you’ll hear her voice.
@@fouronesix8294 so know we get to pick and choose who is an actor and who isn't ? so ppl who play in multiple movies aren't actors ? i understnd you might not like her but to say she isn't an actress is just foolish .
I don't even know who that is.
@@Hygelac1000 lucky
Cats might be good on LSD. I may give that a shot.
Most of these I don't even remember seeing any release marketing, only early trailers.
I’m sorry but we all know cats was gonna bomb
This is "Cats?" It looks more like an homage to John Candy in "Spaceballs!"
For what Hellboy is, I thought the re-boot was fine. Wish some of the action were better-presented. I think directors, nowadays, think that CGI means they can be lazy about the action and that the computer geeks will somehow make it all better. Don't "suggest" action, when you have the means to SHOW action, in detail. But Ian McShane is good in everything he does, and the guy who played Hellboy was OK, although the straining voice was overdone. "PLEASE PASS THE _CEREAL_!!!!" Bring it down, some, son.
1:25 ... Okay, now even if it's a used rental from Safeway for $2, I *HAVE* to see this thing. Too much hype, too many gripes, David Letterman in the day crooning under his breath, "Midnight, and the kittens are sleeping ..." -- I'm a 66yo skiffy illustrator, I *NEED* new childhood nightmares! Almost *everything I do* strays into "uncanny valley", *BRING IT ON!!*
Thanks for using the good Producers movie for the clips.
Will Smith movies are extremely hit or miss nowadays
bpeel22 just miss really.
Yeah. “Focus” was His Last pretty Average/Decent Movie in the last 5 years.
Remember the good ol' days when EVERY Will Smith flick was essentially MUST SEE?

I liked hellboy. It looked great. Action packed. Had some humor. Didnt drag on at all. Solid gore and violence.
Just wondering. Am I the only one who liked Doctor sleep more than The Shining?
Nah, you're not alone; I feel the same.
Viewing this list from the future of the year of our lord 2021 I can say that all of those movies seemed like they came out so long ago.
