If only Morbius was released in theaters a third time, then it truly would have made a Morbillion dollars at the box office.
I hope they do. It will be a crime if we can't see that masterpiece one more time on the big screen

Black Adam 50% of that budget was The Rock’s paycheck
And it should have been. I would never watch a movie like that but was willing to because I like the rock.
Rock was fine as always. Would have preferred someone else more intimidating like the black Adam from the comics.

Jesus, I had to show my wife the awkwardness.
Amazing
I know what was that? fuck it made me laugh.
Dennis Quaid is doing his best Harrison Ford grumpy old man impression.
Wait what part of the video is that in?
In my opinion the rock is a really good inspiration for many people as he managed to overcome the hardships of being a solid form of mineral concentrate. So we shouldn't judge him by a lack of expression but by the obstacles he had to overcome when he left the mountain they pickaxed him out of. True legend.
but if he was truly chiseled from rock, how come his performance was so wooden?

My favorite part about the Buzz Lightyear movie that no one talks about is that it retroactively makes Tim Allen into the discount voice actor impersonator that they always get for movie based toys and video games because the real actor who played the role is too busy or costs too much.
oh
Hm, possible. Or, Buzz Lightyear is similar to Batman so it could be more similar to Keaton and Conroy.
Evans is the “movie” version of Buzz, while Allen is the separate version based on the “animated series” (the Star Command cartoon from the early 2000’s)
"maybe release this two years time when majors does creed 3 and various marvel stuff"
well that aged like milk with piss in it

maybe rerelease this in one years time when majors is out of prison
Morbius and Black Adam need to do a crossover. Truly combine their mediocrity and egotistical leads. I was genuinely falling asleep watching both of them, and they weren't even bad in a funny way. They were just... bad. Predictable franchise bait that simultaneously felt like they were made 20 years ago while desperately trying to chase the shared universe dragon of today.
It would make one blackadamorbillion dollars at the box-office.

I would absolutely watch a movie about a wizard rescuing mythical creatures from poachers, my favorite part of the first Fantastic Beasts movie was when Newt was tracking down the animals. The subplot with Grindelwald didn't interest me at all, and it was a bit confusing at times. But all the parts with the animals? Those scenes were so fun!
yup that was a fun movie grindelwald being johnny depp at the end just made me go ugh the seqeul is gonne suck and i wasnt wrong the titel is fantastic beast not magic politics
Ya. Jus loved the first one. I hope they had stuck around the creatures.
I think they should've stuck with the animals and added Newt in a series centered around Dumbledore and Grindelwald and they could even have other characters that expand the wizarding world like con men, assassins, adventurers or even just normal wizards
@@edschelchang6123 I could see that working. Alternate between the Fantastic Beasts films and the Grindelwald films. Have some crossover elements so people know they are related stories and where they fit into each other on the timeline, but Newt is the main character in the Fantastic Beasts films while Tina headlines the Grindelwald films. She's an Auror, combating dark wizards is literally part of her job. They both appear in all 6 films, but they are not the main character in the other's films. Newt keeps getting drafted into Tina's films because he is quite the prodigy and perhaps was in the Auror program before dropping out to follow his passion. But on the other side he is dealing with the criminal wizarding underground which is why Tina is along in his films.

I literally just found out in this video that Amsterdam and Babylon are two different movies.
They both have Margot Robbie, so I understand in a way.
They could not be any more different. In every single way. Other than margot robbie being in both.
DOR would have been better off making a Flirting w Disaster Reboot
@@nms7872 They're both period films with one-word titles named after locations, starring Margot Robbie, featuring ensemble casts, released this year within months of each other, with vague marketing/trailers that don't explain the plots. The films are more alike than you think.

I feel so bad for Maguire
He made a event to promote the movie, and everybody was just asking shit about Spiderman
It's almost like he's tied to that character for ever
Up until now I had thought that Amsterdam and Babylon was the same movie.
Same!
If you asked me before watching this video, I'd of told you that Amsterdam came out last year, and Babylon is the vague anthology sequel to it.
They didn't have even remarkablly similar trailers or posters...
Amsterdam & Babylon sounds like a good name for a buddy cop show.
It was actually one film but they split it into three movies in editing... Fableman , Amsterdam and bablyon as they figured at least one of the three would be a smash hit of the year.
Just Blue Harvest.
Best Blue Harvest joke yet
No no no we drop blue harvest comments in other channels not this one. That’s #1 green trivia Knowledge right there mate
Rodney?
Man, they really Blew that Harvest!
Which, coincidentally, was also the working title for the original Star Wars.
Black Adam felt like 3 movies crammed into one. Adam’s origin story, but also an intro to the JSA who start as his adversary. Then a stereotypical big bad guy. Then a shakey alliance w/ the JSA. And let’s introduce Superman in a mid credit as well. All 3 plot lines could’ve been their own movie.
Yeah it was entertaining but it was overlong and complicated, trying to do too much at once and not well. Its a dumb story that still somehow worked
I would be way more interested in Fantastic Beasts if it was like a harry potter pokemon gotta catch them all adventure, or like a Wizardly Steve Irwin! What a missed opportunity...
I came into the series thinking it was going to be more about the creatures too. They hinted at different beasts from different countries and was baffled they never delved into it.
@@KyaneTiger the movie is literally called FANTASTIC BEASTS of course you’d think it’s about the creatures 😭😭😭
@@HavingFunISKEY lol the only moment I feel like they captured some of the beast was the second movie and that still wasn’t enough.
Apparently Black Adam actually cost $260 million due to lengthy reshoots after disastrous test screenings. It was reported in the trades like Hollywood Reporter and Variety. So an even bigger bomb than we thought!
James is still the oldest person of all time, can't take that away from him now
Toy Story came out in 1995. Buzz Lightyear was supposed to be the hot toy that year. I would have loved to see them do the film in live action, filmed as if it was made in 1995, and bill it as an anniversary re-release. If they were afraid of dated FX, they could have made it a "special edition" ala Star Wars. Honestly I think that could have been a lot of fun.
Good thing they didn't wait that two years for Jonathan majors' career to take off then
For me, Moonfall is the one that has me going “That came out this year?!” 100% feels like a 2020 project in my mind.
I hadn't even heard of death on the Nile before I clicked on this video.
It was delayed quite a few times due to the pandemic
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent I saw by myself for my birthday. I was the only one in the theater, which to me made it so much better and special. It is honestly one of my favorite movies ever made. Everyone needs to see it if they are a 90's Nic Cage fan. Chefs Kiss!!

"Hackers" in movies be like:
Devotion was lightly marketed during the release of Top Gun Maverick which I think hurt it greatly as that was probably the best movie of the year and was the focal point of all movie goers.
Devotion for sure got screwed by lack of marketing
The Northman (well, according to something I saw online) did great when it came on streaming and crossed the line for its production budget. It was great, 2-fisted violent action with lots of historic detail.
I’m pretty sure Glass Onion was only in theaters because for your film to be eligible for the Oscar’s, SAG, and a bunch of other award shows the movie has to run in La cinemas for at least a week.
I think the more "artsy" and "drama" filled movies (i.e. Babylon and The Fabelmans) did so bad in box office in theaters is mostly due to marketing. I saw them both in theaters and they were really great, but when I mentioned them almost no one had heard of the titles. Both movies had such great casts and messages so it's a bummer that no one went to see them. Though I do believe Babylon also bombed mostly due to all the raunchiness/weird scenes they used in the trailers because that's not entirely of what thee movie is about.
First time watching your video and very entertaining, you guys play well off of each other which I think is missing in a lot of reaction channels I watch when they team up. New sub for sure!

It was just three years ago when Knives Out earned back 7x it's budget at the box office, and Murder on the Orient Express earned back 6x its budget. COVID has just narrowed what types of films the average person watches. by a ton. Just rapidly exelerating an effect that was already in motion. It has been 6 years since a non-franchise film was in the top 10 at the yearly box office, and that was The Secret Life of Pets-
Or a Chinese film. There is always one at the top 10 in the last few years.
To be fair, both movies aren't fair comparisons. Glass Onion was only in thearers for one week and 1/4 of the screens of a normal wide release. That's nothing compared to a 2-3 month run in theaters. It also made word of mouth pointless, because just when people told others to go see it, it was already completely gone for a full month.
As for Orient Express, the sequel's main star turned out to be so problematic in real-life, they had to delay the sequel a lot, and then dump it with barely any marketing. The movie became unreleasable basically.
As Groot pointed out, Glass Onion did incredibly well given it was in so few theaters. It's not only that it was just out a week, it's that it was only on 696 screens when most major releases are on 4,200 in the domestic market, and it still made 13M that week. Granted, you can't just take the 13M and multiply it by seven to simulate wide release, but it'd easily have done 50 - 60M domestic opening weekend if it'd be put in wider release. It'd have been one of those movies that made like 500M world wide.
@@magic75450 I must have seen the trailer for Nile at least a dozen times in the lead up to release. It was on buses, billboards, and the Gal Gadot meme only took off because of how widespread the trailer clip was
The Northman was definitely my number one movie of the year. It's a damn shame it didn't do better...
I hated it - didn't connect to any of the characters, and thought it dragged on. I was bored for most of it.
wow poor taste lmfao
Yeah, well, I just prefer movies that have stories with an actual point, characters with some depth to them and that doesn't assume the viewer is braindead.

@@daalimbe Jaysus, Blue Harvest sounds like a movie title that NO ONE would ever watch, hense why several studios and directors use it as a pseudo name for their REAL projects.

I didn't even realize you stopped doing trailer breakdowns because there wasn't a big red arrow pointing to it. That's one of probably 10 things I've missed.
Did you know that Blue Harvest is actually the term for box office bombs, since harvest means to gather (in this case, gather money) and blue is the feeling of sadness, so Blue Harvest refers to feeling sad over the lack of profit. And according to my friend Rodney, it’s also the working title for Star Wars
It's a formal name. But inaccurate to say it's the ACTUAL term. Most people associate bad performances with bombs (proverbial explosions in the creators' faces). The fancier prose doesn't carry the same punch as the phrase "box office bomb". It hits nicely in a video/article title as well.
Blue Harvest may be more accurate but it's much less popular and probably always will be.
Devotion I desperately wanted to see, and it's so gutting that it bombed. It was only playing at 1 of the 4 theaters anywhere near me, and only like 2 shows a day at ridiculous times (like one at 11 am, and the other at 10 pm). It's infuriating sometimes how bad they are at releasing so many movies.
Sad
I wanted to see it so bad but I missed it because our local theater pulled it early.
Indeed, is one of the few that did not deserve to be a bomb, like the Northman, was that on purpose??, no one said negative things about the movie, maybe they want to use it as a space goat for the other bombs ( like look at that movie bombed too, not my fault is 'people' ) ... it looks great, great story, and is not trying to be woke or is not boring or anything.
@Donald Donald can confirm, The Woman King is amazing if you have not watched it. It did not last long in theaters though.
@@blakepittman6679 great movie
I think lightyear would have done better if it wasn't marketed as an In-Universe tie-in for a toy.
The film being marketed as a movie Andy watched which made him want to buy a toy is just bizarre, and reminds audiences of the film's status as a commercial. If Disney had just played it as a straight reboot or remaining of the character instead it probably would have at least been profitable
The weird thing is that the entire marketing budget of several of these movies seems to have been spent on targeted marketing...with me as the sole target, given how much I saw ads for Strange World and Babylon and a few others on this list. I still haven't seen a movie in theatres since 2019, so the marketing hasn't worked the best, but I did catch several of these on streaming and...many were disappointing (I was rather sad about Amsterdam, as it showed promise, while Strange World and Lightyear were fine, and Glass Onion is fantastic, one of my faves of the year, so much so that I want to force friends to watch it with me)
Huh so there was someone else who kept getting youtube ads for Strange World and Babylon for the about a week and then they vanished. Saw Strange World at Christmas, kids were watching it whilst everyone was in that post-Christmas dinner food coma...it was...fine...it was a kids movie...
I kept seeing ads for black Adam on yt since middle of 2022 I think Paused and disappeared then they started blasting again around September Oct which surprised me because I thought it had already been shown. I'm in Asia.
I just saw 13 lives on Amazon and it was great!
Glass onion told on itself. The first time you see it, it looks glorious and beautiful. Then you look at it a little closer and you realize it’s not as good as you thought it was
@@Werewolf.with.Internet.Access Wouldn't surprise me. It was a fun film, though, and I'd love to get others to see and enjoy it, too, even if I don't get as much out of it on repeated viewings. I've only felt that way about a few movies over the years, one being Lucky Number Slevin, which worked well the first couple times but did diminish in further repeat viewings, though I was happy to get lots of people to see it.

The Northman rules. A shame it didn’t do well.
Boring as hell. Would rather stare at a wall or watch Captain Marvel.
When i went to see it, i was very surprised they were marketing it as a standard Blockbuster when it is very far away from being that

It's amazing the budget they spent,
Gladiator's budget is only 103 million dollars, god damn Gladiator (not counting inflation, of course)
Of course they got one thing right, Viking villages are shabby and horrible, they're really bad at producing things compared to looting and killing
What the hell has happened to the marketing people during Covid? They seriously seem to have lost their shit completely. You have an Oscar cast and crew with an interesting setting, and people don't even know it's out?!
I had no idea that the Morbucks exchange rate was so bad that a Morbillion dollars was only equal to 167.5 million
The Strange World press tour was my Don't Worry Darling press tour
okay "geezer teaser" legit caught me off guard lol
It's wild that a film can make 300m and be a bomb
Some movies these days cost that much to make.
The budget/marketing combo for movies are astronomical. Most films end up being tax write offs anyway so they don't lose tons of money on them. They'll cook the books to make a film look unprofitable whether it is or not to avoid paying profit-based royalties.
Non-Disney studios have it worse, because they sometimes have to pay 3rd party distribution costs in other markets as well
The average budget for a hollywood movie is about 150 M. Dr Strange: MoM costed 200 M and Thor and Wakanda costed 250 M.
A movie needs to make 3 times its budget to break even, that means that with a gross of 760 M, Thor L&T barely made it.
In fact, most of movies which didn't reach the top 10 gross of this year were bombs, except for the ones with very low budget.
There are even speculations that Avatar 2, given how high its real budget may be, would be a bomb if it hadn't reach 1.5 Billions.
Lol Exactly. Especially when you consider that Shazam made 25 million less than Black Adam despite having the advantage of making 73 million in China and releasing pre-pandemic. But somehow Shazam was considered a success. But I guess it was because the budget was so low because it only had like 1 and half fight scenes lol

It's still to come out in a bunch of countries I know here in the UK it's out in January
On Disney - when you have taught parents that the new animated film will be available at home for $15 per month, don't be shocked when they don't run to theaters.
Marketing for Babylon? I saw a few trailers and thought to myself, “what is this movie about? “ I could not decipher any sort of plot
For the Lightyear movie. And the "Buzz Lightyear:Star Command" movie was a great movie, which is setup in the first 5 mins as a movie that Andy watched (Rex and Woody pop it into the VHS player). I have it on DVD and grew up watching it myself so I wish they just used that storyline instead of the depressing "Interstellar remake for kids". The storyline of Buzz having a partner and working with a bizzare team like Guardians of the Galaxy is still a great story if you were to watch it today (even led to a decent Disney Channel show)
Editing in this video was phenomenal
It always is on this channel.
James did the edit on this one!
The fablemans is the type of movie that there is absolutely no reason to see in a theater. The perfect movie to watch from home.
Right. If anything, the forecast is that theatrical dramas didn't survive post-pandemic moviegoing habits and probably have a better home in streaming now
It’s hard enough to watch any film in a theatre since they don’t show films in theatres. They show films in cinemas.
Theatre has a stage.
Cinema has a projector screen.
You could technically watch a film in a theatre, but you didn’t. You watched it in a cinema.
@@brin1034 No one's talking about theatres. We're talking about theaters.
@@brin1034 no1curr
They are charging $20 to stream it, is anyone willing to pay that much to stream a movie? I'm not. Hopefully it will come to Netflix in a year or so, it's had great reviews so Id like to see it but I can wait.
14:10 this age... So poorly is insane! 🤣🤣
The fact that the 355 made four times as much as the Fabelmans is WILD.
I was literally the only one in the theater on the opening night of that movie that was obviously pushed to early January to die a quiet death.
Are you referring to 355 or the Fableman's on 'opening night'?
I had genuinely not even heard of 355 until this video, and now I kind of want to see it because it sounds like it could be fun.
@@rongendron8705The 355.
so many of these movies I wanted to see but half of them I didn't even know they came out and by the time I realized it they were pulled from the theaters.
I really wanted to see _Glass Onion_ and had no idea it had already come and gone. Don't know if I'll ever see it now. Thanks, Hollywood.
Good. You saved your money. :D
The Northman is one of the only films I have seen twice in cinema. I find it that good.
Devotion is such a good movie, yet so little talked about that there aren't any pirated versions of it.
She Said the harvey weinstein movie deserves to be on this list.
glad it bombed too, it’s pretty disgusting that they thought they could profit off the monster they helped create
Jake and Amir appearance FTW!!!!
My friends got their kids lightyear for Christmas and it's still in its plastic, even they're not interested
12:05 Wowww! I feel SOOO sorry for Jake’s feeling of awkwarddddnesss 🤣 really trying to make this interview something, what is wrong with the other voice actors🤦🏽♂️😂
Hopefully there is audio removed of an interviewer, otherwise it is the most awkward moment from any interview, ever 😅
Pretty sure they were just doing a bit.
@@andrewr880 honestly I FELT it 😂
@@MetFanMac yeah I highly doubt it
My face started to hurt from the secondhand embarrassment 😳
Death on the Nike came out this year?! Wow.
That edit when taylor swift got pushed into the street had me rolling laughing. 😂
Wow the Jonathan majors bit aged badly lmao
It's Morbin' time
It's Blue Harvesting time

Thankfully, that time has passed
I'm still pissed that I missed going to see Devotion in theaters. The day I was supposed to go we had a blizzard which kept me home. Definitely going to stream it soon as its available!
Also, I think The Northman was a good film, but it wasn't marketed properly. From the marketing I was expecting a more bombastic viking epic kinda like the Vikings TV show. I was kind of disappointed initially because of this misdirection from the marketing, but in the end I do enjoy the film we got.
Devotion is lame. Its a low budget film because typically movies like this did well with the subject matter and diversity. It disappoints me because these stories like Devotion, Tuskegee Airman and 42 all are great stories and they are always poorly done and low budget. Im surprised people dont get pissed because Hollywood is phoning it in on these great stories.
I’m sad that 3000 Years of Longing and Devotion didn’t at least break even. Both were excellent films, I enjoyed them very much.
12:05 the industry has been reduced to an awkward school auditorium announcement
So it’s now confirmed that Maso’s parents are Margaret Pomeranz from At The Movies, classic Australian show about reviewing movies, and Bob Iger. This makes a lot of sense.
