@@ryanboughton3577Hes also touring right now. I just attended one of his (sold out) shows in California and he was absolutely hilarious. It was genuinely one of his funniest stand ups he's ever done. The guy just oozes comedy. He truly does have a talent. Some comedians are funny because they tell funny jokes. Tosh is funny because he's genuinely a hilarious person who can just talk for 90 minutes and be funny the entire time. There's a select few comedians who are actually funny people on and off the stage. Tosh and Bill burr are at the top of that list.

I’m always surprised that Tosh is never brought up on top comedian lists. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t get into the public eye much that he’s overlooked. His specials easily stand up to every other overpriced production.

You're taking that joke way too seriously. In "real life", I take the point being many of us are totally isolated from neighbors and don't know them at all. That's what's insane about top tier comics. I can be pretty witty and decently funny, but I can barely get through a lazy conversation with my wife sometimes without misspeaking or transposing words lol. To be able to pull off these jokes in front of thousands of people, with perfect timing, delivery, and not a single misstep in speech is mind boggling.

This might be a wild take, and many may disagree with me, but I kinda think Tosh is the closest thing this generation has to Carlin. He'll take on a serious bit, deconstruct it, criticize it, make a point, and all of it will be funny.

George Carlin was a ground breaking one of a kind first that set a specific comedic genera that all stand up comics after him study. It's easy to see the influence. Rodney Dangerfield was another one. Robin Williams. Sam Kinison.

@@malibucomic2167 a restaurant/bar at the corner of Melrose and I think Alta Vista, not a dedicated comedy club but they had a comedy night at least back in 2014 when I met Tosh, I used to go to the improv every Wednesday and met so many talented stand-ups but Tosh I met down the street. I asked him why he shifted his style so much from his earliest standup to his show, and he told me that if he did the content that way the audience would eat him alive, smart man 😎

Wow...y'all just don't get stand-up comedy. If the _actual_ "material" were say written out for a particular show, most of the time, it's just not even humorous. The *MATERIAL* isn't what makes us laugh (in && of itself...in most cases), it's the *PRESENTATION* of said material. The ability to generate laughter in others is developed - *and* *that's* *why* *every* *comic* *is* *unique* ! Everyone has their own _style_ and essentially "puts on an act" (character) to do it successfully. The reason EVERYBODY _thinks_ _it's_ _so_ _easy_ is only because they've only ever seen successful comedians on TV & in media who are so well-rehearsed at it! Go to a local open mic night and _see_ if you laugh! ::SHRUGG:: maybe you will...but drink a bit more anyway because that's typically rather rare.
Y'all ever heard of a comic named "Mitch Hedberg"? The guy was good enough to have at least one comedy central special, but the reason he always wore sunglasses during his performances is because (I heard...) *he* *kept* *his* *eyes* *closed* after _every_ _joke_ ...
