    Nathan! There is an easy fix for that 4x4 / DSC error. Your steering has lost its alignment since you took off the battery to reset the maf. All you need to do is, start the car, turn the steering once completely towards the right, and once completely towards the left so that it learns where the start and stop points are. Both the errors will go away. Try it please!

    1st: disconnect fuel pump relay or battery,
    2nd release fuel pressure hose beside engine.
    So you wont get high pressure and split on the sofa.

    I changed my fuel filter and broke the suction jet I think, the left tank stays full unless I make a really heavy left turn and then fuel goes into the right side. I bought a new fuel pump and changed it out (the suction pump is attached to it) and it for some reason is still staying full on the left side, I also have a faulty sending unit on my brand new pump that I have to buy too... Unless I've just done all this wrong some how

    I learned the hard way to loosen the retaining ring before I disconnect any fuel lines on those types of BMW fuel pumps/filters and to be extremely careful once the lines are disconnected. I had fuel everywhere the first time I removed a BMW fuel pump even after I thought I had bled the fuel pressure off. For easy access I like the fuel pumps under the rear seat but hate it for the potential mess inside the car . As far as the fuel filter goes they should just put it under the car like on the older BMWs.

  • @charlesdefrancisco5056

    Hi nathen...I really enjoy your films....this one regarding.the removal of the ring nut on fuel filter......a similar nut is used on a ranger pump...the first time I used the only tools I had and used a oval punch to move the nut ...but Mac tools makes a spinner ...adjustable width that grabs two of the tangs with a 3/4 nut that turns the nut down evenly
    I bought this took in frustration as I could not get the o ring to seal......the tool worked and was well worth $ 65 bucks

I have the full latest NCSExpert software that I've used successfully to code and diagnose my e60 ( that i also happened to get from an auction and was kind of a nightmare to get it running and going.) Anyway I appreciate all the help you've given the BMW community and specially the M54 community. Let me know if you'd like the software, send me a message and I can help you set it up. Also maybe consider a virtual machine if you have MacOS? I'm pretty sure I've seen it set up that way. Keep up the great content

    • @joshonthetube
      @joshonthetube Před 5 lety

      Parallels is very nice, but if your needs are really simple, consider VirtualBox.. it's free. That's what I use for the scan software I use on my VW stuff, and it's good enough.

      @ruk2023-- Před 5 lety

    IMHO, I believe I would hold off on soending the $$ on new wheels and see if your gonna keep it. If it turn out to be a constant PITA POS and you want to dump the car, it will just be more money in the pit that your going to have to try to recover. I think I’d just replace the tires and get it back on the road. If it works out and you are gonna keep it, the old tires and wheels can just go on some other car later.

  • @LeverPhile
    @LeverPhile Před 5 lety

    You can get a windows laptop on ebay for under $100 with shipping...use it only for scanning & coding these cars (no internet). Use INPA/ncsexpert/winkfp & pasoft for the older cars, it's a bit clunky and some of it is in German but it gets things done (reflashing engine computer, etc). I've been looking at INSTA, which is in English & has a better interface, but probably will wait until I get an e90 before upgrading to that.
    The hard part is getting it all set up, but once that's done you have dealer level software.

    Edit: Be careful with the car just "working" now with that surging idle, mine did the exact same thing, it ran fine for a short 20 mile trip, I let it sit overnight, and the next day it wouldn't start and when it did start idle was still all over the place. Hopefully it just works!

So I sold those n went 19" 275/30zr/19 rear complete different car handling improved traction improved a lil more fun when u want it to be & the best part no difference in ride quality from 18 if any thing 19 is da highest I would go 20 felt to heavy for me harsh ride I love my 19"

    Should get five gallon containers & hand pump before all the gas makes things so imposable to work around.

    E60s ride stiff as is. Lower profile wheels it will ride worse. I have found my factory 17 bend real easy over pot holes. Hoping a after market 17 will be stronger.

    Left side of gas tank was full before it sprayed all over leather interior and seatbelt. You got to get the gasoline out of those interior bits less someone smoking in back seat ignites himself. . .
