    Thanks for reviewing these. I did not know there was an option like this. Even though I can get a decent lift about the same price, I would have to change my garage door rails and other stuff just to install it. I do wish it could go a little higher though. It would be great if I could get my engine out from below as the engine/trans combo is quite heavy for my car.

      cms-gt4 There are likely other products out there that I'm not aware of, but a few companies make mid-rise lifts that work in low ceiling garages and offer a (mostly) clear floor. Looking at the design of the lift. It looks like you would place them together (side by side) so you won't be driving over the hoses. Then drive over the lifts and the with the handles on the lifts are use to pull them towards you to be put under the rails of the vehicle. This would avoid from the lines being driven over.

    • @enterBJ40
      @enterBJ40 Před 8 lety +1

      It should. This quick connector model work like a check valve when disconnected. Some quick connectors are designed ''open end'' so the circuit remains open when disconnected. A good example of this one is air hoses used in tyres shop used to inflate tyres.

  • @handsomehippo
    @handsomehippo Před 7 lety +9

    The geometric design doesn't look safe. It needs a truss structure to lock it into place. I would not trust getting under that lift without additional support.
    Also as others have mentioned, the hydraulic lines should NOT BE DRIVEN OVER. Don't be lazy, place the car and then place the jacks. Or get creative and longer hydraulic lines and hang the lines from the ceiling.
    Safety First.

    Also, those quick connects, I'd switch them so you have male/female on each end of the pairs so they cannot be hooked up backwards or cross the flows. They make quick connects with stops on both male and female connectors so they don't drain and only lose 2 or 3 drops of fluid when disconnecting. Makes it much easier to keep the connectors clean, just hook them into themselves, no way dirt or anything getting into them if you do that.

    Great idea, but by the time you unload it at worksites, you could be more ahead in work by using floor jack and support stands

    I have a 5000 pounder. The contactor that controls the switch failed after the tenth or eleventh lift. It is cheap in build and design. The hoses covering isn't very durable and some of the engineering for the power unit leaves alot to be desired. It is easy to use though if you overlook its foibles.

    I noticed that the cylinders have a small tank?? connected to the other end from the end you're hooking up to the pump.. It looks like it's got a valve stem on it. If it's what I think it is, that's brilliant. Other end doesn't have fluid, it has air and as you lift car or whatever, that air is forced into the small tank, pressurizing it, then that air helps lower the jack so you don't have to stand on it or anything to make it go all the way down. When you first get it, just put a bit of air, like 10psi to "prime" it to lock it in the "down" position. Pretty cool.

    Awesome video Tom! Like always! I have a detailing shop and I have been looking for a lift like this. All the traditional lifts like this are one piece and bulky! I will definately order this and let them know they got the sale from your video!

    Great video, now that it's a couple of years later, do you have any pros/cons updates to this? I'm seriously considering one of these for myself. I was looking at the Atlas Kwik Bay, but it seems like storage would be an issue for me. This seems like a perfect and more portable solution.

    With the safety locks engaged and jack stands.as a back up you should be fine.This could be a good lift for brakes especially since you can remove the wheels where ramps the tires are resting on the ramp.
