    Four years later and I'm still impressed by the mental gymnastics some people go through over stuff like this. It started with "I wouldn't trust that thing to hold my car up while I'm underneath it," and as soon as it was proven that holding weight was a non-issue, it switched to "oh yeah but can it lift that much?"

    I'll admit that I read the online comments about it being flimsy and I was hesitant in buying it. But after I saw your first video holding 15,000 lbs, that was the proof I needed to show how stable it was and I bought them. I absolutely love them. I just had my car sitting on them raised for 4 days straight without a single issue and I felt safe working under it all 4 days

    I love my BL-5000SLX.
    It was a 'no-brainer' for the type of maintenance and repairs I do in my garage.
    I no longer have to crawl around jacking each point to do simple things like tire rotations etc... Those are done in very short order now.
    The lift is also very sturdy and in my case leak-proof. I have not seen one drop of moisture anywhere on my garage floor.
    I purged the actuators as required in the instructions and the thing works as advertised.

    Drove a 1968 Charger R/T to high school in the early 80’s. During that time I also worked at a garage / service station. I put and saw many vehicles up on two post lifts. A quick youtube search can show you the risks with that system as well as any other vehicle jacking in general and yes I did see a few two post unintended launches (thankfully none were my doing). This system is by far one of the most stable looking I have seen that includes ease of use and portability. That charger is sadly long gone when life happenned however 35yrs later i’m about to rebuild the chargers brother, a 1968 Dodge Coronet. This system will provide me with enough height clearance for everything I need to do including excellent transmission and powertrain access. I hope to be ordering one in the next few weeks.

    I use this thing every week and I have the 7K lb version. I only lift my corvette Z06 C6 but I wanted the wider frames, not necessarily the weight and capacity. In fact, i hate how heavy the frames are but i understand I bought the more beefy kit.
    I use it on ground that is NOT level even though it isnt too bad. I try to push the car off and over whenever I am about to get under it. I bougth the heavy duty kit because of the wider frames, I figured more stable since my driveway was not level and only asphalt.
    Sometimes it is easier to grab a regular jack but other times, when you need to lift and lower your car several times it is so nice to have I feel guilty like I am being too extravagant. The added height over a regular jack is great and you do not need to use wood or blocks.
    If you have an import, get the 3500lb kit it is fine and you can carry it much more easily. There is a photo of one guy holding both frames of the 3500lb capacity kit in one hand. Try that with the 7Klb kit. You could possibly do it but it isnt easy.
    One regret: This is more Northern Tool's fault. They make a portable kit you can hook to car battery. I would much rather have that 12V kit than the 120V ac kit but life is what it is. I feel that Northern did not make options known well enough. A portable jack that runs off 12V electric is the shiz! Then you can work almost anywhere!
    I'm thankful that I can have one of these QuickJacks that I can afford it and that I am able to use it. The company proved to me 2 times that they have great customer service.
    1 year ago:
    My electric motor locked up on the hydraulic unit. The lights would dim, the unit would hum but no go. I pulled it apart because I was way out of warranty and figured it was the capacitor or something but when I took the end cover off the motor about 2 pts of water came out! The motor is not water proof but it is difficult to get water in there unless submerged or sprayed often.
    I told quickjack the story, I did leave it out in the snow once but only some flurries and not long enough for that to happen. I leave the frames out but not the unit.
    I was asking them for a manual and parts diagram. They weren't sure they could help with that but the man told me to hold tight he would "see what he could do" I did not expect in a million years what was going to happen. I was acting a bit cranky about not being able to get a service manual or parts list.
    Long story short, even though I was not being the nicest guy they sent me a brand new unit at no charge! Quick Jack did not owe me one, they did not owe me anything. This is an electric motor, hydraulic pump, reservoir, control box etc that controls the lift frames to raise/lower the car. The new one has a plastic tank and maybe some other differences (but that's is for the better).
    These guys at QuickJackare straight up handshake people as people can get. The naysayers and ridiculous things people write on here trying to undermine the efforts of inventors or entrepreneurs moving forward and upward will always be there.
    The first time I had a fitting o-ring come apart and leak only 2-3 times after using the quickjack. This is not part of the unit but only the quick connect similar to an air hose chuck. This is a fitting made by another company and happens sometimes, maybe it was my fault. I actually ordered new fittings because I didn't think QuickJack would cover this. I was frustrated and wrote a quick email when I could not find the hydraulic quick connect parts on the website (later I found and ordered them) to tell them it was my 3rd use and already had some issue. True to form, they were about to send me the replacement parts right away, no questions asked.
    I cannot say enough how these guys at quickjack went out of their way to help me only because they appreciated my business and considered me brethren after I made the purchase.
    I have had the QuickJack now for at least 4 years and left it outside for much of the time. Not the electric/hydraulic unit but the frames. It got rusted up because I have no garage and the 7K lb kit is heavy enough to make me leave it out after a long day.
    Now I finally got a tent garage with a concrete pad that is level and life is better. The quickjack works smoothly and has proven it's worth several times. I would trade these 7K lb lift frames for the 3500lb kit in a minute.
    Good solid product simple as that with good solid staff putting them together and shipping them out.
    Hey, QuickJack: Don't mind the naysayers and trolls. They likely live with their mom and ride bicycles.
    You may remember me so thank you again and feel free to call upon me for a product reference anytime.

    IMPRESSIVE, but a couple comments 1) it can lift, but what about if you were working on the vechical, you would be applying side forces. 2) Having that much metal off the ground and the workers had to reach UNDER the suspended items to release the brace is not safe. They and you should have used a pole to release it. Lucky that it did not fail.

That video where it took a long time to lift was stressing it out, but yah, it did it. I wouldn't do that to mine, it will ruin the lifting parts. Why do you think they have replacement parts? Because it will ware out at some point. I'm sold on that lift, that's amazing.

    I have an ALFA Romeo 4C that weighs about 2400#. I have the 3500 version with AC pump. It works great. I have had it for about 4 years and no issues. I like that besides the hydraulic lift, it also has mechanical struts that lock the lift. The secondary struts act as jack stands and very secure. I am a Super Moderator for the ALFA 4C Forum. These jacks in either the 3500 or 5000 ratings are very popular and many members have them. The 4C has a carbon fiber chassis tub and it is designed to be lifted from 4 designated points. Once lifted at those points there is no place to put a jack stand. So normally it is raised with a 2 or 4 post lift. This is the best alternative if you don't have a 2 or 4 post lift. For those that worry that isn't going to be safe. It is fine and frankly more secure than putting a car on jack stands. Of course you don't want to go yanking on the car really hard....same as if it was on jack stands. If you want a third level of safety go ahead and use jack stands if you want. But in my case that isn't possible. For the type of stuff I use it for....pulling off wheels to access brakes, cleaning and detailing, it is fine. For anything I need to get under the car I leave the wheels on and put blocks under each tire for safety....not cinder blocks but footing blocks. I think this is actually safety than a 2 post lift. My car is 60/40% weight distribution and works fine with my lift. But a two post is very critical for balance, I have seen enough examples of cars that fell off a two post lift to know they can be risky. I wish I had room for a permanent 4 post lift but that isn't going to happen.....

    So I guess the QuickJack, as delivered to end users, has a hydraulic limit valve that keeps it from exceeding it's rated capacity? I want to get a 5000 series jack and will use it right up to the 5000 lb limit. I want a healthy safety margin, which I see the structure has, so I'm hoping that the hydraulic system will just refuse to lift beyond the 5000 lb limit thereby ensuring me, or anybody in my house who uses without thinking, cannot exceed the rated limit.

    • @quickjackusa
      @quickjackusa  Před 4 lety +1

      Jim, thanks for your comment! The hydraulic power unit supplied with the QuickJack does have a built-in relief valve designed to bleed the excessive hydraulic pressure built-up when attempting to lift loads beyond the rated capacity. It is however ultimately up to the user to make sure that the vehicles they're lifting are within the rated capacity of the lift.

All that said, if you were to change out hoses or modify the unit at all, it would definitely void the warranty; so we highly recommend against swapping hoses. The supplied hoses are more than adequate for whatever you're using QuickJack with!

      Thanks for the question, Richard. If you're planning on using this with a generator we do also have a 12 volt DC power unit option that you can run off your car battery or a jumper pack (if you don't feel like firing up the genny) as far as the power consumption is concerned, we do have several models of the power unit so please give us a call and specify which you are interested in. (888)262-3880, we'll be happy to help you out!

    What matters are the two passive safety locks/braces once you're under the car. Those were specifically excluded from the test. As stated the "special hydraulic unit capable of producing extremely high pressures" you used in the video can support the weight but for the real world of buying a stock unit what is strength of the two metal braces? Lawyer answer: Don't exceed the ratings of the lift.

    So you used a “Special Hydraulic Unit”. How about using the regular hydraulic unit that ships with the QuickJack?

    • @quickjackusa
      @quickjackusa  Před 6 lety +3

      The hydraulic units that ship with QuickJack have built in pressure regulators to prevent them from lifting frames that have been over-loaded. This test was just to demonstrate the strength of the frame assemblies.

    • @bbrown5887
      @bbrown5887 Před 6 lety +1

      Daario Naharis , clearly the purpose was to test the integrity strength of the jacks not the hydraulic system and of course they needed to dramatically increase the hydraulic pressure required to lift that weight. Basic science. Well done Quick Jack

    From the video perspective a long wide shot unedited is the best way to prove something. When one makes their own claimed videos and chops it at the editing table the reliability goes down.
    Who's to say this didn't take 20 attempts with multiple failure. I get editing cuts down in time but at the same time these type of boasting videos are less appealing to me.
    In short the more cuts the less likely it was all the same attempt, much like movie action scenes

    It doesn’t appear that you tested the safety stops at those loads. A key omission if that is the case.

    • @quickjackusa
      @quickjackusa  Před 5 lety +1

      You are absolutely right, the full load was not lowered onto the locks. This test was designed to show the strength of the hydraulic cylinders and their ability to withstand a much higher load capacity than rated, not just in the physical load but also the amount of hydraulic pressure needed to lift such a load. We actually did do another test showing the frame strength with the QuickJack frames on the locks, you can check out that video here: czcams.com/video/2ea-5ifRRYI/video.html Additionally, we showed the stability of the system without hydraulic help in this test video: czcams.com/video/jvcVT-OxqvE/video.html

    So I’m guessing the hydraulic pump is not the one you get with the lift
    but they’re not testing the pump they are testing the joins the Pistons the welding and the ability of the whole setup to lift that weight.... which it did
    So this test is kind of okay to be honest the fact the standard hydraulic pump won’t lift the weight is a safety measure....
    Should handle +10% of rated capacity..... Depending on which engineer you talk to that’s a +30% I’d be happy with +10

    • @acklan3
      @acklan3 Před 7 lety +7

      You are a 400%+ (20k) why not keep going till you have a structural failure. I would also like to see what happens if the lift is lowered under full load, 5,000 lbs., with only one safety bar in place. It would be interesting to see how stable the lift would be with an unbalanced load. I know it should never be lowered like that, but considering this is a product in the home gamer price range it IS going to happen.
      Thank you for your time.

    • @stevef5903
      @stevef5903 Před 7 lety +4

      acklan3 I think this is a great idea. Do a test like this unit fails, deconstruct and look at every part of the jack, and see what failed and what got severely degraded. then improvement can be made upon that.

      @brbroberts1 Před 7 lety +5
