After Scream, I will watch anything with Jenna in. She blew me away. What a power house. I don't know much about this movie outside of what you've said here so I'm going in pretty blind which is good.

She is a great actress but her character sucked in this. lol not her acting, but her character was... meh.
This movie was so refreshing after the disappointment of recent horror films in the last couple of years. I loved this movie and I'm already ready for both the prequel and sequel.

Ti West beat Rob Zombie at his own game with this movie. From the cinematography to the sleaze and gore, but mainly with the authenticity of the characters. Mia Goth gives such a layered performance that I want to see this again for her alone. Of course, it's nice to see Jenna Ortega evolve her horror credentials with this after Scream and Studio 666.
Amusing side story, I didn't see this in a dingy cinema but rather a highbrow, Europa style one (as it was also my nearest). I booked my ticket in advance and found a pair of teenage girls were sitting in the two next to mine, and wouldn't you know, one of them leapfrogged into another seat before the film started to allow a space between. Fine by me, gave me a laugh.

I loved it, great Slasher. Solid at building tension, actual good characters, some good brutal kills, decent score, and some nice nudity as a bonus.

Another A24 piece of art, though I understand why some characters did and said what they did, mainly the two camera couple, but cmon I didn’t feel sorry for them when they got it or were in trouble. Aside from those two characters everyone else was great, you even felt some sort of emphatic towards the old couple. Devine Intervention was brilliant.
I was so stunned when I left the theater tonight. I have to go watch again this weekend because I feel like there is even more to take in then I already got the first time.

SEE! I’ve been saying this, but idk if this was actually filmed on... FILM (35mm film) or they used a filter. But horror movies today, mostly the ones that started in the 80s like, Halloween, Friday the 13th, ect. They should ALL look like this film “X”. Imagine if The new Halloween movies looked like this but shot the same exact way as they did. Just used this filter or shoot using film. Now I know using film is much more expensive then shooting digitally BUT if I was in charge of making a Halloween or an 80s reboot/remake I would insist on shooting in 35mm film

Ti West also directed Cabin Fever 2 Spring Fever 2009 and that was a good horror fest movie and if you seen the cabin fever movies drumdums those are good horror movies genre and i highly recommend those movies too and there are 4 cabin fever movies

I went to see this last night at Silverspot in Chapel Hill, NC. I really loved it. Great Soundtrack and story development. I loved when Kid Cudi played Landslide on guitar and the girl sang. Great Film and great review Drums!

Hey man did you notice a trailer for Pearl after the credits. I heard about a teaser that was apparently played at SXSW and allegedly was going to be attached to the film either in the opening trailers or post credits but didn’t think to stick around because i didn’t find out about it til after. Glad you loved it. It quickly became my favorite horror flick of the year as well 🤘

I freakin' loved this movie too. Mia Goth is incredible in this. It's like Boogie Nights meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre, two of my favorite movies of all time.
I loved House of the Devil, so seeing Ti West's name attached to this really got me excited to see it, though I haven't yet. But damn, I swear he's using the exact same film stock as the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre...the washed-out exteriors, the texture and grain ...after nailing the look of 80s horror, he's now nailed the look of 70s horror. Also, Mia Goth is beautiful; no point in shying away from the obvious.
I ran out and saw this last night…which is not something I do often. I usually wait to stream, but I had two free tickets I was sitting on and knew this was one I wanted to see on the big screen. I was not disappointed! There was one scene…that was set up sooo well…that made me bite my nails…that would not have been as good if not on the big screen.
This is one where you should have no expectations about. I was expecting something more like Texas Chainsaw, but this film is something all together unique. It has sex, violence, great characters and subtle forth wall breaks that are so engaging. WATCH IT!

This film is the big reason why I enjoyed the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I saw that as the fun popcorn turn my brain off movie but X was the real TCM I've been waiting for.
And the fact Ti already filmed a prequel to this has me so excited

I’m so happy this was the depraved 70s horror throwback it ended up. Because it’s A24, part of me was concerned this would end up too much on the “elevated” side. Some of the artsy visual choices were great and it even touched on certain themes that was well done. I loved this movie. My fave A24 film since Hereditary. I’m so excited for the prequel.

The trailer didn't grab me, but I figured I wait to hear what you happened to say and damn you really give a reason to go see this. Hearing that is great music is one of my triggers I love good music in horror movies.

I have seen the previews for this movie and was thinking of going to see it with my cousin. But now I see in the comments that it has loads of sex and nudity and I don't think my cousin will feel comfortable with it she's sort of old fashioned she doesn't mind violence though. We saw Halloween Kills and she was scared by all the blood but that's it. But well if it centers around a porno shoot it kind of figures. Well she's my ride so I'll have to wait for it on disc. But I would have loved to see it in theaters. Good review and cool video Lee!👍

I also try to avoid using the term “elevated horror”, but this is definitely “a cut above” (😂) what you think of a low budget splatter flick from the 70’s-80’s.

Malignant, Scream 5, and now this movie. This is a good time for horror.
Kinda reminds me of Deep Murder. Jerry O'Connel and Shooter McGavin Horror Comedy, which takes place all within a self-aware adult flick. Ever screen that one? I'm not huge on Horror Comedy, far too many ZomComs these days, but I enjoyed it.

It was a good tribute to the genre. It had Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw tropes. It had Chainsaw and Psycho camera shots. It had plenty of eye candy. Yet it also had complexities of human relationships and the complication of mixing business with love. I think this is the slasher film we have been waiting for. It had ALL of the ingredients we want in our slasher films, including one we have been being deprived of as of late. It’s ALL in this film. It was a good time. It is definitely a Blu-ray purchase with rewatch potential.

Not gonna lie looks good I'm not a big A24 fan but I'll give it a shot.
So had to double back because I saw the movie and much like a few of the other A24 releases (maybe 5 of their films) this one I really liked. It was as if someone threw the best parts of TCM, The Visit & Boogie Nights into a blender and poured out this pretty amazing movie. This and Green Room for me so far are two of my favorites from this Company.
Watched it tonight too and it truly was Xcellent! X/X rating from me. Ok I’ll stop with the puns now. Lol

Yeah, it’s Jordan’s movie reviews on my other account and I don’t know much about what this movie is other than what you have said I didn’t get a chance to see this in theaters even though I had every intention of doing so as I love slasher movies but, I’m not typically an A24 fan however, I figured since this is a old school slasher style film under the label that maybe I’d like this one more so than the other films I’ve seen under the label.
Which isn’t many but we will see.

When I saw this preview months ago, I thought that it was the new Texas Chainsaw. This movie looks good, but it doesn't inspire me to go to the theater for it.
Wow--this is getting great reviews across the board. I am intrigued! I wasn't into The House of the Devil, but Ti West does have some chops. This sounds more up my alley than the supernatural stuff due to its gritty, human elements. Could this possibly be his best film?
It's over hyped imo, just saw it. A couple decent kills, good T and A, the rest is forgettable

@@opaque4742 exactly, its like an echo chamber online. If a few reviewers say it's a great movie, their subscribers say the the same thing. I remember online hyping up movies like Hereditary , The Babadook ect, I saw them and was like, what? If you're a 80s slasher fan tho and like a few decent kills and T and A, it's worth checking out. I would just temper your expectations, this movie isn't anything we haven't seen before

One thing that at first I didn’t like but, I actually came around on was the fact that Jenna Ortega who I have a major celebrity crush on ever since I saw her in Scream earlier this year which was the first horror movie I ever saw her in, was blasted with the shotgun as she ran out the front door and Mia Goth’s character who I didn’t particularly care for which is blasphemous to say I know was the “final girl”.
I don’t know the minute Jenna Ortega’s character Lorraine was captured I was pulling for her to escape and her to be the last woman standing so to speak but that really wasn’t the case.
I appreciate the review, bro. I end up skipping this one today as The Godfather was playing at my theater, but definitely looking forward to checking it out soon.
