Chris Stuckmann reviews Pearl, starring Mia Goth, David Corenswet, Emma Jenkins-Purro, Matthew Sunderland, Tandi Wright, Alistair Sewell. Directed by Ti West. - Zábava
Of all the movies I've seen in 30 years of life, Pearl has the scariest/creepiest closing credits of any movie ever lol
Well, yeah, Pearl had a psychopath smile at the end.
i was so uncomfortable sitting through the credits lol
Made me so uncomfortable that I couldn't look away.
@@vanessab.c.7806 I wouldn't say it was psychopathic, its disturbing really because of the opposite, the amount of emotion in her face is what's disturbing, ....psychopaths are the opposite. the whole point of her character is that she's someone who has suffered trauma who feels all emotions so intensely that it breaks her. psychopaths are unemotional, cold and calculated, Pearl is the opposite, impulsive, emotional and broken.
@@theneveristsofficial1732 Great comment. I could feel all of her emotions in the end credits scene. What a performance.
The father’s genius acting as well showing soon many emotions with only eyes & hands shaking I was amazed whenever he came
THIS. THE AMOUNT OF EMOTIONS HE HAS SHOWN EVEN WITH LIMITATION. IT WAS AMAZING
Saw the movie today. Mia Goth deserves a fking Oscar. This kind of acting is quite rare nowadays in Shittywood. The German mom was damn sad and sinister in the same time, while her dad did top acting only with eyes. This is a rare movie in terms of screenwriting.
Saw the movie last night and Mia goth’s performance is arguably the best performance in a horror film since Toni Colette in hereditary. She deserves to get the recognition for this because she’s never been better in my opinion.
I made the same comparison in my own comment - Mia's monologue is on par with Collette's in Hereditary and Dafoe's in The Lighthouse. Just phenomenal.
Definitely agree their both up there!
This xame out????
Solid take. Colette absolutely killed it- I agree..i loved X and will see it. Thx Aaron
I agree. It was surprisingly great. Really, really good movie.
That near endless take at the end was SO uncomfortable. I laughed after the shot was cut because I didnt know how else to react. What a fantastic performance by her.
This "X" trilogy is basically to show how talented Mia Goth is as an actress, can't wait to when "MaXXXine" comes out
Hahahahahahaha
Seriously, this is all just an expensive highlight reel for Mia and I'm completely fine with it. What a triumphant series of performances. MaXXXine is going to be a must see - and if Ti lands a good ending, no doubt this trilogy will go down in horror history as one of the best ever.
Sad that many people in my showing didn't stay until the very end to see that trailer. Guessing many of them didn't see X either.
@@livingminimumwage6359 is it only a trilogy? I was really looking forward to some story in between Pearl and X
Who is Maxxxine?
The rolling end credits took me all the way out! 🤣
Her commitment and conviction to embody an extreme cross between a struggling smile and a complete mental breakdown for damn near 2 minutes as the credits rolled is applause worthy! Hauntingly peaceful. There's something uniquely strange about this film that makes one desire more and more.
1985 is gonna be live! Can't wait for the next installment!
I was switching from laughing to being terrified during that scene! So good.
Saw it last night and everyone stayed for it which made it even more uncomfortable
FYI, the smiling scene during the ending credits wasn't in the script and was completely improvised by Mia Goth.
@@kiillabytez I'm well aware! 👍🏾
Ti West and Mia Goth really went to WORK on this script! The themes of jealousy, regret, and anger are so important to Pearl and her mothers relationship. The climax of the film (Dinner in the Storm) was just so heartbreaking and CHARGED! Ugh 😩
I loved that scene. The acting between Pearl and her mother was filled with so much emotion.
The climax was her creeping up behind the blonde chick with an axe.
@@ThePaigeBenthe character of Pearl is like a combination of Dorothy Gale, Ariel and Belle if they were demented psychopaths like Pearl. Pearl is also the female Arthur Fleck
I’ve been a fan of Chris’s for a long time, nearly ten years, and I’m so excited for his movie. With that said, I kinda miss Chris doing negative reviews. It takes away the surprise of his reviews, and when he doesn’t review a movie, I don’t know if that’s because he hated it, or because he didn’t see it. I get he’s trying to get into the industry, but I don’t think him talking about how bad Pinocchio is would hurt his career.
Watching old hilariousictys it's hard to tell it is same person
I'm like this with the northman, did he not watch it or did he just think it sucked
@@MichaelWutsch Truth. Those were my favorite.
@@mrconnor628 I highly doubt he would dislike that movie
Agree, I kinda skip some now because I know if he makes a video is because he liked it. I’m like cool he likes this one. Lol I had to switch to a few other people to watch. Still like this kid but he’s lost me a bit. Can’t wait to watch Pearl! Loved X!
Mia goth is incredible, the editing was incredible, the post credit scene was incredible!
How do you figure ??
Incredible! 😀
Wait there was a pos credits !!
@@yveltalpoderoso1303 YES! I learnt my mistake last time!
@@yveltalpoderoso1303 Yeah it sets up Thanos for the sequel
If MaXXXine is as great as X and Pearl then we are gonna have a fantastic fucking trilogy. Both X and Pearl got an A+ for me
What about X was A+? Don’t worry, I’m not trying to argue, I just genuinely want your opinion. I agree with Pearl.
@@jacksonscott690 I'm curious too as I rated X as 3/10
@@jacksonscott690 not really an 10/10 but 8/10 easily and probably one of the best slashers of all time. Unique story and killers, and probably the best written slasher characters ever. Not one character in that movie sucked, even if they're not a good person they still are written simpatetic. Top notch characters, plus many themes it touches gave this movie a deserved good grade. But that's just my opinion tho
I agree "X" was fantastic!! Haven't seen "Pearl" yet but I know I'm gonna love it. And I can't wait to "Maxxxine"
@@jacksonscott690 honestly i’ve bumped up X’s score because of Pearl. They compliment each other so well. I feel like if i watch X again, I imagine Mia Goth playing both pearl & maxine in the same movie
I just watched X and Pearl back to back and it was such a pleasure to watch both films. I agree that Mia Goth's monologue was mesmerizing to watch - a complete outpour of honesty and vulnerability to the raw force that motivated her throughout the film. I saw some questions about whether Pearl should be watched before X, and I would argue that watching it in the order that they were released makes both films better by the end. Getting to see the set, the characters, and the props in X, covered in darkness, makes it all the more appealing when you see the same set, characters, and props in Pearl. Loved these films and I can't wait for MaXXXine!
That monologue and her friends shocked reaction was terrifying. Then she excuses herself and walks away shaking, just to have Pearl follow her outside and pick up an axe.
Probably the only time I’ve yelled “Oh my god run!”
I actually watched them both last night for the first time and I know it's the wrong order but I watched pearl first and what made it great for me was because I didn't see X yet when I did and I saw that Howard actually stayed with her after the events of the movie it was actually kinda heartwarming in a weird way. I was like Holy shit it's Howard!
I accidentally watched Pearl first because I didn't even know it was a prequel lol. Definitely a different experience, and maybe a little lackluster because I preferred Pearl, but it was still really interesting!! I also had no idea what x was about going into it so I thought maybe she had gained immortality or something lol. But yes!! The monologue was amazing. I had to pause a few times during it because the buildup was just so intense, and the fact that they only show Mitsi's reaction after the entire thing is complete made it even more suspenseful.
@@Chronicrocit actually makes sense that you watched Pearl first before X because Pearl takes place in 1918 and X takes place in 1979. It's called Pearl not X Part II
That monologue was stellar. She deserves an Oscar. Love the wicked witch bike reference. Mia would make a killer Harley Quinn.
💯
the way i was holding back tears during that monologue... RUN HER HER OSCAR NOW
I was thinking the same about Harley Quinn 👌
Yes but shes also way too good for Harley Quinn. She needs more original characters that no one else could do!
Mia Goth wouldn't ruin her career being a mid DC character
A24 is starting the renaissance of film making with them now producing films. Everything they've help bring to the big screen has been so original, and I'm super stoked for the 3rd film of the X-chronicles.
I personally thought Pearl was better than X and if this is going to build an entire franchise I'm so down for that.
That monologue at the end by Goth was absolutely incredible. Such a rad movie, loved it.
While I cannot wait to see Maxxxine, I really wish a sequel to Pearl was next. I would love to see what takes place after Howard came home. How did she convince Howard to accept her lunacy? Who else did she kill? Was Howard killing with her then, or did he start when they got older? lol I want a sequel! It kind of sucks that we might not ever see the character Pearl again.
I definitely agree, I almost feel like Pearl lives on in Max in some weird reincarnated way! Like their past, present, and future seem linked in a way of course Max isn’t a killer but let me know what you think!
I had so many questions too from the gap from Pearl to X
YES YES YES. There’s obviously such a huge gap between Pearl and X. after MAXXINE i would love Ti to give us at least one more “Pearl” movie. I’m not trying to sound ungrateful but man I loved pearl so much
@@roperjuliano1234 i can totally see that! interesting theory
Yes!! I would love to see what happened with Howard to get him to stay.
Her acting when she was talking to " Howard " at the end was insane
I have not seen Pearl yet, but I am happy to hear most of the scary things happens in daylight, as opposed to what we are used to - only in the dark of the night.
One of the things I really appreciated about X is that it took something usually safe and not scary (older, weak people) and turned them into messed up violent villains. Even though it wasn't the first movie to do that, it was still very refreshing.
I think with Pearl they do the same thing. Less regarding the people and more the set up of the movie itself, though. The way that it's shot, the music, the saturation all makes it feel like an older film that wouldn't be able to commit to anything scary than referenced violence. It was so good. I think it's interesting that they seem to be specifically flipping things that are "old" on their head. I wonder if they're going to continue to do so in Maxxxine.
Pearl is INCREDIBLE. Mia Goth deserves an Oscar for that Stellar performance!
Ti West owned this year!
Is going to happen what happened with toni Collette sadly😔
@@nah....6151 That long smile in the end felt so uncomfortable. Mia Goth is such a good actress.
No.. Mia goth is insufferable and these movies are hack asf..
@@marsoblivi0n945 Another shit opinion.
Not too gory but the entire movie left me in great discomfort. The tension and suspense was masterful.
Mia absolutely deserves an Oscar. Haven’t seen a performance that stellar in a long time. Too bad the academy hates violence
They hate slasher horror films in general. This needs to be a big box office hit for her to AT LEAST BE CONSIDERED and buzzed about for a nomination.
That depends. US soldiers against middle easterns kind of violence is very much academy-friendly
@@davimelo9181 Are you stoned right now??? Looks like you sae a different movie!
@@nikitamohanan2124 Its NOT a horror film i dont what it is besides slow and boring as hell!
@@ksmooth1973 But it is a horror slasher film! Horror doesn't need to involve ghosts, demons, witches, vampires or other disfigured hideous creatures. That's the stereotypical perception people have of horror! Sometimes it could just revolve around human beings doing despicable nasty things
Love that line and so true in all girls of our lives "we have an incessant need to compare new art by referencing it with other movies instead of letting it simply be what it is"
Yeah after watching "X" and seeing the after credit scene just being a trailer for the prequel that they already shot (the overwhelming confidence to do that aside), me and my buddies were just like "yeah we are seeing that day one" after coming out of the shock of getting A TRAILER FOR A PREQUEL TO THE MOVIE WE JUST FINISHED.
I loved the ending credits. Oscar worthy performance. Mia knocked out of the park.
Mia deserves an Oscar . at least a nomination
This was such a perfect movie to me. I’ve never been so excited to see a movie in theaters. It was like a date night with myself. Ti West is going to be just as special to me as Ari Aster and Robert Eggers is. Long live A24!
Edit: I said never because I just turned legal age so I wasn’t allowed to see horror movies in theaters until recently. I have a pretty strict family.
Never?
X was fun, but compared with The Witch, it looks like it was made by a much less talented director, writer, actors, etc.
West is good, but he’s not on Aster or Eggers level. Mia Goth just hasn’t ever done anything that makes me think she’s a great actress. Her old lady performance had nothing to it, that took real skill.
I’m hoping that Pearl, will have all of the hype being given to it. Saying she smiles like no one else, tells me Chris has a bias.
Regardless of taste, The VVITCH and Hereditary, are just far beyond X in direction, cinematography, acting, and just about any other technical aspect. I understand someone not enjoying those movies as much, because of subject matter or story, but the filmmaking level is hard to debate.
Again, I hope West blows me away with Pearl, as I’m going this weekend to see it.
West, Eggers, Aster and Jordan Peele will become the masters of horrors of this decade
@@CorbCorbin everything you just said about X was wrong lol
@@CorbCorbin I don't think it's fair to say that Ti west is a "much less talented director".
Eggers makes art house films that rely HEAVILY on the cinematography and dialogue. Ari is very similiar. Ti West makes slapstick horror films that are faithful to 80s slashers and he's the best director right now doing that.
Once you see Pearl, I'm sure your opinion on Mia Goth will change. It was one of the best performances I've seen in a long time. I feel similarly to her performance in Pearl that I did to Toni Collette in Hereditary. She should be a shoe-in for an oscar if these films were taken seriously.
Definitely agree! I understand living in a strict (religious) family, and I think directors like Ti West and Ari Aster are willing to have those conversations of what those sort of family dynamics can sometimes do to kids. Like Chris said we don’t condone the extreme level of violence Pearl gets to but West and GOTH make Pearl human and a little more understood.
As someone who went and watched X with my dad in theaters (he’s a horror fan) with only 1 other person in the room, I’m so hyped for this. And getting that teaser at the end of the movie was bliss
Also instantly became a Mia Goth & Jenna Ortega fan
I saw Pearl as part of a double feature with X last night and it was such a good time! Mia Goth absolutely kills (lol) and I'm so excited to see more in Maxxxine.
I just saw Pearl earlier & later I’ll be seeing X. 😉
It can't be overstated how incredible Mia Goth is in Pearl. I knew she was a great actress but this was a full display of her abilities as the solo star. I also really liked X but Pearl I loved and it's going to stick with me as an instant classic that I'm gonna comeback to many times in the future. Favorite horror film since Hereditary.
I think the movie's saturation says a lot, to me it represents what you expect from a fun or romantic journey, maybe even innocence, and the horror is so present still, just like Pearl's smile trying to hide how mortified she actually is.
The film is a masterpiece, might be my favorite film of the year so far.
I can't wait to see it!
Worst movie I’ve ever seen.
@Cody J Miller damn, worse than Ernest goes to the proctologist?
@@rippindrummer666 - I love that movie
Totally agree with you. One of the best character study movies of the modern era imo
2 scenes in here stand out as some of the best I've seen.
That’s funny because in a preview for Pearl, a critic calls it wizard of oz meets psycho!
@ 3:49 that scene - that take, is, yeah, mesmerizing is the word. Award-winning. Wow. So much of the movie is all on Mia and she knocks it out of the park like an actress with twice her experience. Floored by her performance.
I’m waiting to see the double feature of both movies on October 10th can’t wait! Love original horror movies!!!
Haven’t seen pearl yet but “X” is a wild ride I enjoyed. Definitely worth a watch..
Just watched the film. Her monologue + end credit scene were phenomenal. I couldn't get them out of my head.
This is still in my top 5 favorite movies of 2022 to date. Mia Goth is just fantastic, and it's the rare prequel that builds off the movie that inspired it to create something great.
i had a completely empty theater and kept screaming “mia goth” at the top of my lungs cuz why not
That's amazing lmao
lmao
A great film. Everyone keeps referencing The Wizard of Oz for simple colour gradients, but what about Psycho? To me, it seems, like Ti West made Psycho in colour. Which is fitting for how colourful Pearl's character is. It's almost like Psycho 1, 2, and 3 wrapped into one story about a true psycho killer. Loved the movie
I got to see it on Wednesday, and I absolutely adored it. It’s easily my film of the year right now. Such an original and bright movie, with such a well rounded and multi dimensional villain as the lead, and captained by an incredible performance from Mia Goth! Somebody please give her an Oscar right now 😭
I just finished watching it. I wasn't expecting this level of performance. I knew it would be good, but not that good.I bow to Mia Goth and Ti West and everyone who worked on this film. This is the pure magic of cinema and I hope more people watch it.
Lmao “she isn’t exactly like everyone else around her, THANKS TO HELLO FRESH” that caught me really off guard
My Goodness Gracious!
You mentioned Midnight Mass... I knew I was going to enjoy your review on Pearl, but that came out of nowhere.
The Monologues were what made it great!
I can't believe Ti made two awesome movies in a year. The monologue was incredible! One of those movie moments that has me appreciate films even more
I just saw a trailer for the sequel to 'X' the other day, really surprised at how fast these three movies were made. *Edit: The movies title is 'Maxxxine' for those that want to know, you can watch it on the A24 channel here on YT.
What's the third one?
@@housekinokuni903 Maxxxine, you can watch the trailer on the A24 channel.
"Pearl" and "X" were shot back-to-back. That's why they have been released so close one to the other.
Not only did this review make me want to immediately go see Pearl, it also made me want to rewatch Midnight Mass because that show was fucking incredible.
@@Artyom125 ?
Midnight Mass is great, I am re-watching it also next month
Hell yes. I loved Bly Manor and Hill House too, but Midnight Mass had such a unique feel to it. It made me feel what I wanted to feel watching Salem's Lot, and so much more.
Just saw it last night. Absolutely awesome. Mia Goth is incredible.
I’ve been a Ti West fan since Netflix released The Innkeepers back in my middle school days (2010s). I’m so glad he’s getting larger scale opportunities!
In a valley of violence is pretty awesome
House of devil and the innkeepers are gems
Initially, when I saw 'X', I thought, "meh, it was fine. A callback to classic slasher films". But the strength of 'Pearl' not only stood alone as an incredible film, but boosted 'X' with context and lore! I'very never known a prequel to be as powerful and now cannot wait for 'maXXXine'!
Even having seen X its not spoiled at all and so original... the others at the theater hadn't seen it and were having a blast... more of THIS, PLEASE 😀
Just found this channel and it's quickly become my favourite movie review go to. Amazing stuff
I rarely watch movies like this, but something about the trailers I saw really intrigued me. I saw it last night and it was amazing. Mia Goth was fantastic and really sold the character. The presentation and style was amazing and made it feel very unique. I LOVED that you knew Pearl’s trigger to turn violent, it added to the tension so much. Definitely going to watch X soon
Got two tickets to see it tonight with my brother. Genuinely cannot wait.
Nice! After X I was really looking forward to this.
Love your reviews. They make me curious without giving too much away. Loved X been waiting for Pearl ever since. Can’t wait.
Just watched X last night. Seeing Pearl tomorrow. Thank you for the review, Chris.
Yeah I also liked “X” a lot but holy fucking shit I adored “Pearl”
Thinking about that monologue at the end is giving me chills. Amazing performance, amazing cinematography, haven’t seen X but will undoubtedly watch it in the next 48 hours. Awesome review !
Loved her in A Cure for Wellness and now I love her even more in Pearl. I'm so happy for journey as an actress and writer
I was so high on edibles while watching this movie, I was immersed by Mia goths acting that I felt so terrified when she starts to become unhinged. Truly incredible acting and great movie !

I'm heading out in about an hour to watch this. Saw X earlier this year in theaters and it instantly became one of my favorite slashers.
I loved how you did the Hellofresh advert
This was one of the most gorgeously complex films of the year. Mesmerising from start to finish.
Whatever happened to baby Jane crossed my mind while watching Pearl as well! Felt like a creepy love letter to Wizard of Oz. Loved this film and can’t wait to see more from Ti West
I fell in love with Mia a long time ago I’m so glad she’s finally getting this amazing roles ❤️
Wow !!! Looking foreward, when it hits cinemas in Denmark. You are the best reviewer out there Chris, keep up the fantastic work.

I wonder if Chris Stuckmann would review Michael Mann’s Heat(1995)
Wow didn’t expect this review before Clerks 3 being a masterpiece
This was astounding! My local cinema only showed it at 10pm so I booked a local new boutique hostel (fun). Made my weekend. Mia needs an award 🏆
Finally saw it last night and it was incredible! Absolutely loved it. Brilliantly done
Just saw it, so good! Excited for Maxxxine. Ti and Mia are killing it.
I hit the thumbs up immediately.. I already know I’m gonna love the review ❤
I read that this film was made the same time as X, on the sly. Only costing like a million. That is why it is out so fast. I cannot wait to see this!
History in the making a movie and it’s sequel being filmed back to back that isn’t already a beloved or ongoing/rebooted franchise the faith a24 had in ti west and the guts to go through with it is kinda heartwarming and is definitely a big win for directors In hopes that more studios have this faith in creators visions.
This film was an experience! And it was an amazing time at the movie theater - the score and visuals pop on the big screen! Mia Goth deserves awards for this performance, her monologue is the best monologue of the year - on the level of Dafoe's in The Lighthouse and Toni Collette's in Hereditary. If she doesn't get awards, then Mia Goth should get more and more acting jobs because, as far as I'm concerned, she's a star
What's frustrating is that neither of those people you mentioned even got nominated for their roles, although they deserved it. I'd be shocked if Mia got a nomination; the academy hates to recognize horror films for anything.
The best monologues of 2022 belong to Mia Goth in Pearl and Jeremy Allen White in The Bear...
I f***ing LOVED this movie. Mia Goth is the new face of horror.
As much as I totally love a positive review for good movies. I think moviegoers should get a heads up about the heavily marketed movies that are straight up garbage.
Sure, we could watch the critical drinker for that. But, I'm not sure if he loves any movie more than his own opinion of them.
Well..I think moviegoers can decide pretty well of a movie is overmarketed and garbage with CZcams and online reviews 😉
Now I’m so excited to see it next weekend on my day off
Just her crazy facial expressions while the movie credits were rolling at the end was worthy of an Oscar in itself, that freaked me out and made me laugh at the same time.
Just saw this movie, and I frigging LOVED it! This film reminded me of the 70's crazy lady horror films I grew up on. It even has an ending very reminiscent of the film "What's The Matter With Helen". Mia Goth's performance was fantastic, and I really hope she'll be remembered by Oscar nomination time. I don't know if the film is for modern audiences, since it has a real story and few jumpscares, but it's a solid quality horror film, that at times also reminded me of "Carrie". Go see this film, it's good!
Saw it last night. It's a character study disguised as a slasher. The "horror" is presented so matter-of-factly that it blunts any feeling of terror, it's just what you are expecting the character to do. Slow burn to be sure, and yes Mia Goth kills it.
It's a good movie, not a great one, but with one of the greatest performances ever. It's a total passion project for a character study, you're right. I like it, but didn't love it. Being really original doesn't automatically make it a 9 or 10 to me.
@@mattlowder Yea I think that's fair. I do want to rewatch it. good performances all around but the strength of Goth as pearl could def be affecting my assessment of the movie overall.
Imo, it was a great movie. Mia was absolutely amazing in this, along with the score, acting and cinematography. I loved "X", but I enjoyed this more. To me, it was on par with the other psychological horror great of all time. You have to give ti west credit with new ideas for horror movies
Dude I’ve been with you since like 50 subs I always respect your opinion on things and I for one can not wait to peep your new movie you’ve come a long way my friend

I really, really liked X. But I loved Pearl! It felt so original, the cinematography and colors were amazing, and Mia Goth gave one of my favorite performances in a horror movie in a very long time. I can't rave about her enough!
This has been a crazy year for Horror! X, Nope, Scream, Hatching, Speak No Evil, Prey, Men and now this and Barbarian...And we are not even in the Haloween season, jessuuuuus!!!
Prey. LOL
None of the movies you listed were good.
I really really really enjoyed this one!
more than X actually, the cinematography was absolutely beautiful. The acting was astounding, and I would honestly love to see a continuation of at least one more movie telling the story of Young Pearl.
That fixed manic smile at the end credits!
She doesn't blink ONCE! Ouch!
No wonder her eyes were welling up, but it adds to the effect. Tears of sadness and confusion through the joy of being reunited with Howard.
Best movie I’ve seen this year, insane level of acting and directing!
Great to hear this as good or better than X. I just watched X last week. I'm sure the Oscars will miss nominating this movie, but I have hope the Golden Globes or SAG will.
I loved 'X' (and Ti West's previous movie) and I am super pleased that the follow on from 'X' is already here. Awesome. I think they filmed them back-to-back...?
Mia Goth is a very, very good actress, she really is. And I do believe she is from my home country, the UK - I mean, of course she is...! 😉😉🙂👍❤️
This move was fantastic. It was so unique and the movie knew exactly what it was, it was executed it perfect. I could not give this movie higher praise.
So I’m not trying to ruin the parade but I have a genuine question for someone who saw both movies.
Has anyone seen both that hated X but loved Pearl?
I thought X was a terrible movie through and through but I’ll watch this if it’s good.
I’d love thoughts and opinions.
When I finished seeing X, I wasn’t blown away. I left seeing it as more of a comedic horror because most of the characters deaths were actually funny, and there were bits of comedic aspects outside of the characters deaths. I wasn’t upset because I didn’t go into X with high expectations and I enjoyed the film for what it was worth. Because of that, I went into Pearl with the expectations that it would also be just enjoyable with comedic character deaths, but it was quite the opposite. It was far darker, with a horrific tone, far more character depth, and the killing scenes were eerie. Pearl is probably the best horror movie I’ve seen in my opinion, probably because the murderer is the Protagonist and it’s centered around getting to know the murderer rather than just killing a group of victims.
Yep. Didn’t get the craze about X, but really enjoyed Pearl.
I'm the other way around. Gave X a B+ but Pearl only a C-.
I thought x was garbage. I thought this movie was slightly better because all the characters made sense. My girlfriend loved x and hated this movie.
@@burgercris X was a bad movie. I do not understand how it was being heralded as one of the best horror movies ever made. Literally one hundred percent of the kills I saw coming from a mile away and not only saw it but exactly HOW it would happen. The story was bad. It looked good I guess. But fuck that movie was boring and not entertaining at, all.
"We need a weird chick for our movie!"
"Like a goth chick?"
"YEAH! Get Mia Goth!"
nice review, now im gnna watch it for sure, Thanks Chris
I just saw this movie and you touched on everything I was feeling or thinking once I finished the film. This review was so spot on that I watched it twice, that’s how good the review and the movie were.
Just watched Pearl. I didn’t see X so the ending was pretty unpredictable, AND even better, I’m even more excited to watch X now. Mia‘s performance in this was incredible. Possibly my favorite this year.
I was eagerly waiting for this.
Mia Goth is just, ❤️
Pretty cool we get to see this so fast after X so we still remember the story to it
Great review man!!! I am glad it is good.I had a feeling it would be.I will definitely check it out!!!
I loved the film X. Excited for this one and will watch it soon.
