The "Story can't change midway through" line was gloriously meta as the trailer went from feeling like a period piece on porno to a horror flick right after that point.
When that many characters are shown to react to a line like that... its usually a sign that whatever was said was important. And thats dead on.. the first half is gonna be about this small group of wannabe filmmakers trying to get famous and filming their porno but then after that point in the movie its gonna become a slasher.. gotta love it.

can't say enough how good this film was. I loved it from start to end. The performances were immaculate, the cinematography was on point and the plot was perfect.

@@richardtomco.6657 From the credits list, it's based on an original story and other than that, I'll have to wait and see the movie but still A24 likes to bring something new to the table that not too many people can enjoy and that's what I liked about it. It's not based on a source material so that's cool to hear

A24 made tons of great movies, critics mostly praised their movies but very polarazing on the audience side especially Hereditary and Uncut Gems which for Uncut Gems, it's extremely bullshit that the movie got 52% on audience score at RT aswell a C+ on audience polling for CinemaScore

I've just watched it. I was avoiding every tweet, every article, anything related to this movie, including this trailer. I didn't want to have big expectations and get frustrated in the end. But then I hit the play button and in the first scene I was already hyped up. It's a Texas Chainsaw Massacre with the A24's tradicional fucketry twist, adding some Psycho and even The Shining spices. I love it. It really feels like it's from the 70s, the cast, the photography, everything. (off: the blond girl looks like Carmella Soprano)
The movie was amazing! I don't get the haters on this one this time! The acting was very decent, the soundtrack was very good, brutal and gory kills and unexpected! Hardly wait for *"Pearl"*

They’ve been on their game for years and have produced some of the best horror/indie movies, one of their best years being 2015*, a few flops but that’s to be expected as their popularity grew and their movies got even better. This is probably one of the funniest slasher film I've watched. I don't know if the director intentionally did it but some scene that are supposed to be scary cracked me up 😆. That shotgun scene at the end was so epic.

I love A24 for always supporting the the principle of trying new ideas. Their films always has at least one unique aspect to it. What makes films a beautiful art is the ability to experiment with new stuff and I appreciate A24 for keeping that tradition alive!
Edit: I never nearly said anything that comes across as saying slasher movies are a new thing. I know the genre and I love it. Secondly, I never claimed that A24 is the holy grail of the movie industry, I just said that they are trying some new things out that I have yet to see from big budget Hollywood Studios. I mean, at least the Marvel brand has some kind of identity and lineage to it, this is just worship of..a logo, a titlecard. It's not like there's a very strong identity to the films they make - and they vary in quality, most are forgettable, some are trash. Their flagship horror guys - Ari Aster and Robert Eggers, very overrated imo. They did make Under the Skin which is easily my favourite film of the last decade, and I liked Uncut Gems and the Green Knight, these were all made by very talented people but to gush over the distributor, a corporation who finances these projects that's interchangeable with any other? X is like a quiet homage to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and all the exploitation films of the era. And Pearl has superb Hitchcock vide to it, very reminiscent of Psycho in a lot of ways.

Very original 1974 Texas chainsaw massacre vibe. Which is probably what it was meant to. As it is set in Texas , group of friends piled in a van. Stopped at the only gas station. ❤ these style of movies . Must make more! I have to admit the original Texas chainsaw massacre 1974 opened the door to all types of slashers. The devils rejects , rob zombie Halloween and all the remakes.

I love the Grindhouse, 16mm look the movie seems to have. Even in the digital shots - it looks to be lit and filtered in a way that mimics that old style. But almost in a meta-sort-way. Like death proof and planet terror! I’m excited for this one.
finally a new Ti West film!! He's got the talent that his movies really look like from their era. Acting, scenery, film optics - love it!
For me personally, X is one of those films that in order to really appreciate you have to watch it in the cinema…and know nothing going in!

I haven’t seen this movie yet, planning to soon, but I love the way the trailer is edited.
I think A24 is a good fit for Ti West. I think part of A24's success might even be traced back to Ti West's THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL. The reliance on suspense, the slowburn, the harking back to traditional horror mixed with fresh nuances... It's very much Ti West's trademark in horror and people/studios followed suit -- and A24 is very successful with that "slow and weird" trademark.
Can't wait to see X as I think Ti West is such a strong but unfortunately underrated director. And I'm happy to see Mia Goth in this as well.

A24 is making pure art with these films. Especially the period pieces. They put so much care and detail into them that it just makes for an overall wonderful experience
They do put care into them as in what scripts to select, and what directors to support, but they aren't putting "detail" into them since that's the directors and below the line staff's job.

I loved this movie! Caught my attention because Jenna is one heck of a rising star, but also A24 makes movies I absolutely love! This was the first time I went to the movies since 2019 and it was fantastic! Absolutely worth it!
Damn, you're all exaggerating about how good this movie is. It had great potential and a nice buildup, but it was underwhelming. Alot of missed opportunities. I could predict most of everything that was going to happen (except for maybe the old couple's sex scene) The best thing about the movie is the soundtrack, Chelsea Wolfe's cover of "Oui oui Marie" is absolutely haunting.

such a goood fucking movie. didn’t get the chance to watch it in theaters but i bought it on Blu-ray and seen it twice already. the atmosphere of the movie, the acting, the soundtrack .. A24 never misses 😩😩❤️🔥

This was a good flick. The old couple took the creepiness to a whole new level. I thought the ending didn't live up to the journey, but hey, the journey sure was some ride!
I absolutely cannot wait to see this in theaters. It’s giving me some serious “greens room” vibes (another A24 classic) and that movie had me on the edge of my seat for 2hours straight. I have a feeling this movie will be just as (if not more) intense.

Everybody, this director is a master. The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers are two of the greatest horror movies ever made, The Sacrament was a pretty good found footage flick, Cabin Fever 2 is a hilarious gross-out high school horror, and In a Valley of Violence is a big departure from his work being a western set in the south that feels very mature and extraordinary. Ti West is a name everyone should know. He’s aces!

Cmon man...West broke ground with VHS which is genuinely a good flick. The rest is subjectively good to pretty bad.
With that said, the aesthetics of the 70s porn industry coupled with a serious TCM vibe is a fantastic premise. A24 just might deliver again.
I've only seen The House of the Devil, but yeah. It's easily one of the best little horror films this side of the 80s. I need to check out Ti West's other work.
The House of the Devil was very good... far from one of the greatest horrors... The Innkeepers was ok... I agree with one of the other commenters though, Ti West's style is a perfect fit for a horror movie that looks to be a mix of Boogie Nights and Texas Chainsaw Massacre... I'm excited for this!

This looks a little too polished and studio clean to feel gritty like a real 70s film but idk there’s way worse out there (James wan) so I will give it a thumbs up and pray to the devil it’s good. House of the devil was so so but haven’t seen his others. Didn’t Inspire me.
Binge watching Wednesday before watching this movie really messed with my view lmao. because the whole movie I keep saying "Wow, she looks like Jenna Ortega" and then I see the cast, I'm so dumb lol.
it is a great movie tho, I would never expect Mia Goth actually playing Pearl the old woman, Holy she's crazy talented. Can't wait to watch PEARL
I must have been living under a rock...or this movie got lost somewhere between Moncton & Halifax because the trailer for Pearl brought me here. both look so cool and deadly.
I love the how back in the 80’s film had the gritty look. I think it immerses you more, because it’s like a dream. Real, yet like a memory. Hope this turns out good.
And something about the music sent you even deeper into that atmosphere. The drawn out ethereal synths, really hypnotic

This movie is goated. I loved Texas Chainsaw as a young teenager and this has got to be within the same aspect of creepy, spine chilling. I literally got so much anxiety during the scene when she crawled into bed with Maxine. Can’t wait for the prequel!!
I love Ti West. He's very understated. I get a lot of 70s TCM vibes from this trailer. Could you imagine if he directed the new TCM.

I was sitting watching this movie and half way through I realised Jackson is Kid Cudi.. blew my mind.
The theater went insane during that third act. It was a very good movie & dare I say, a new classic!
It was a decent movie, just kinda funny how all the youngster reflexes were slower than the old folks.

This movie was better then I thought it was gonna be. Kinda reminds me of Texas chainsaw massacre and the cowboy reminds me of Matthew McConaughey. Good flick though, worth checking out!
Another absoloute masterpiece!!!! First I watched Infinity Pool, AMAZING, now X; and next Pearl. This Mia Goth truly is phenominal. She played two characters in this too!!!! Wow. Jenna is doing pretty damn good too, especially with the Wednesday thing.
Mia Goth tho. My god what an amazing actress. Woman, you can do any role cant you. But your skill really shines in the crazy insane roles.
If your considering whether or not you should watch this movie, you should. Then follow it up with Pearl. Then I would check out Infinity Pool. So far, amazing, all of them. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Also, good depth and concepts behind each one so far. 10/10.

one of the best films of the year so far and maybe one of the best slashers in a long time. it's an old school slasher that goes back to basics and does it very well. i'm excited for the prequel.
Crazy the lack of promotion this movie got or maybe because Batman is still out, but went and saw this last night. Only 3 other people in the theater.
Having said that, this one does NOT disappoint. I may go see it again tonight. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to any horror fan. Great movie
