It's safe to say Jenna Ortega is by far one of the best young actors out of Hollywood her range is really getting better and better

He is in a TV series in the UK where he had to adopt a very distinctive local accent. As you know, wherever you live in the world, actors may do a good enough effort at the accent but if you're from the area, you know. Try as they might they don't get it 'exactly right'. Well he did. No one would know he hadn't been born and bred in Liverpool. It was phenomenal.

I did NOT expect the plot to be this intense but it looks very intriguing. Not to mention the cast is incredible so this definitely looks like a movie worth watching. 👍

Are you talking about inappropriate teacher/student dynamics, age differences, or just movies featuring inappropriate relationships in general? To me, this seems like it’s borrowing a little from The Hunt (super good movie) in that the man is innocent. But these kinds of movies are definitely out there. Starling Girl is one that just came out this year. Then you’ve got movies like Stoker, Palm Trees and Powerlines, The Deep End, The Blue Car, Fish Tank, etc.. This isn’t a genre that’s necessarily gone away. But I guess the pulpy, A List Celeb type of movie hasn’t been made in a while. This looks like it could be this generations Crush.

Miller's Girl is a tense, thought-provoking thriller. The performances are incredible, and the blurring of lines between teacher and student will stick with you long after the credits roll. A must-see for fans of nuanced, character-driven dramas.
If i'm getting it right it's about a student-teacher relationship. I'm a teacher... No wonder people are losing trust and respect for us when they are producing films like this. Yes, there were some cases when teachers went too far even thou they were the adult in the situation but the rest of us have healthy boundaries and work hard in order to offer knoledge to our students, nothing else. I guess most people find these stories spicy and exiting but i think it builds a higher bridge between society and the teacher community, even if only subconciously

@@joyg95I’m gonna be 100% I watch most of Jenna’s films because either I didn’t even know she was in the film (since she’s usually the side character) or because let’s be honest she’s attractive. As an actress her best role was the fallout since she was actually the main focus. I’ve haven’t seen all her performances like American carnage or you but just from the trailers/by word of mouth she plays a bratty teenager. Most her performances don’t get to show her range at all it’s always the teenager or the mysterious girl. Which whoever her agent is needs to get her better roles. I think this movie will help show her range but we’ll have to wait to find out I still think she’s a good actress and studios will keep casting her since she’s very popular with audiences but she’s still no Natalie Portman or anything like that she’s still only 21 tho so she’ll be fine and keep growing

I attended the world premiere of this movie at the Palm Springs International Film Festival with Jenna and her family in attendance. It was a surreal moment. Jenna never fails to amaze me or the mass audience. Her aura on screen is truly incredible and impactful. How blessed am I to meet her and watch her movie with her. Truly ICONIC! She killed this role and all of the acting from the ensemble cast is phenomenal. My favorite takeaway from the movie: “If it’s not controversial, it’s not interesting.” My rating. 5 STARS. I highly recommend checking it out.

Yeah, I hope the movie is more than what the trailer is giving us. I think Jenna Ortega usually acts in pretty independent character roles, so hopefully it subverts our expectations.
didnt watch the movie but from the trailer it seems that she does try to seduce him and when he rejects her, she reports him and tries to ruin his life. And in movie we either follow from his perspective that he rejected her but turns out he took advantage of her and they did have an affair, or another possibility is that we see from her perspective that they did have an affair but turns out she made it up or is insane and imagined everything happening.

@@drwho9319 it's not a clear cut of someone being a villain per se, but the movie explores inappropriate relationship between teacher and student and acknowledges the power imbalance between them, and the repercussions it has on his life. Ortega is not a villain but she doesn't see herself as a victim either. It's not an evil teacher who takes advantage of a naive student not it's evil student who seduces a nice teacher, but it is pretty clear who is the adult that should have drawn the line.
Nothing wrong with teacher-student relationships if they are adults.

The point of the movie is an inappropriate teacher-student relationship that did or did not actually happen, and can ruin his life.
Martin Freeman is just incredible. He’s has played such an array of characters and this accent !! amazing.
This is Jenna's scariest role so far - for very different reasons.
Christian Bale did American Psycho, look how that turned out. Different story but a bold role to take on. Similar here, bold role to take and I’m all here for it.

Saw a screening of this.. shes a good actress but can't hold the accent consistently throughout the film. Got quite grinding hearing it go in nd out all the time. Very noticeable

The scripts been out there for awhile and its pretty spicy. Cairo is a villain and im here for it. Seeing Jenna being a real baddy is going to be awesone to watch.

This was a fantastic film, I’m glad I was born in the early 90’s because this film would make no sense to anyone born after 1995. Pure nostalgia for a time that did exist. All the characters played their roles almost too well it was haunting.
