- While staying at an isolated island resort, James (Alexander Skarsgård) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying a perfect vacation of pristine beaches, exceptional staff, and soaking up the sun. But guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero tolerance policy for crime: either you’ll be executed, or, if you’re rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead.

The intensity of actors like Skarsgard and Goth along with a madman director like Brandon Cronenberg, this movie will surely be a thrill ride. I loved Possessor !

MIA Goth is the definition of scream Queen
Her performance in Pearl is legendary
That monologue she delivered in Pearl was brilliant.
I was shocked, she's a new Scream Queen
She needs an oscar for her performance in Pearl.

Looks very intriguing. I’m starting to become a Mia Goth fan. Her role as Pearl was one of the most craziest performances I’ve seen these past few years. She’s not afraid to go all out and be unhinged.

Infinity Pool looks intriguing. Seems like Mia Goth has been involved in more horror projects these past few years. Good for her. She really suits any type of role she portrays onscreen.

Mia goth is absolutely terrifyingly good in every film she touches & Alexander is always a pleasure to look at I'll definitely watch this movie for both of them.
a littler reversal there lmao nice lmfao!
Wasn't that great
🤖
If this is HALF as good as Posessor, I’m in! Brandon Cronenburg has taken the torch masterfully
its probably about half as good. Where Possessor is a 5/5 star, I gave this 2.75/5. Its got a lot to say but I dont think its nearly as intriguing (and just straight up incredible) Possessor was.
One of those films that had me keep checking the progress bar to see how far i was into it and then it was over and i was left wanting more. It had great effects, lovely atmosphere, and wonderful actors, but at the end i felt like there was so much more meat on the bone. While undoubtedly impressive in its individual elements, it struggled to seamlessly unite its various components into a cohesive whole, ultimately leaving me with a sense of missed opportunities and untapped potential. I feel like Brandons best work is still ahead of him.
yes! this is exactly how I felt, had a great time
This looks scary and disturbing but because Mia Goth is in it, I am here for the movie! She is definitely one of the contenders for the title of Scream Queen!

This movie was so weird but I love movies that mess with my mind like this. It felt like a long black mirror episode. And Mia Goth’s performance in this movie is a 10/10 talented masterpiece, she can ACT wow she is so so talented. I loved her in X, in Pearl (Pearl especially, it’s my favourite movie that she’s in, it’s so good) and now Infinity Pool. She’s such a good actress and she’ll go far
It was just ok
I'd describe it as so-so
I too thought it was ok. Mia was great but the plot of the story was lame. nothing to brag about. (beside Mia's performance)
You probably won’t see this but I’m confused how they made doubles of them?
Yesss 100 percent, its such a pure artform, kind of addictive, I want to watch it again, the opposite of mind numbing hollywood cheese
Brandon Cronenberg is a really good director, eventhough he hasn't reach the heights of his father's skills, I think he has a unique bloody vision that would've made his father proud. This is the type of horror movie that Mia Goth is perfect at. At this point, she should just star in every horror movie that's coming

Alexander skarsgård on a leash makes this a must see for me
Mia Goth is quickly becoming one of the most promising and talented new stars of this era. She's like what Florence Pugh was when Lady Macbeth and Midsommar came out.
Florence Pugh, terrible actress.
She's better, but Pugh was riveting.

As soon as it said Brandon Cronenberg film, I was like "oh yes, this makes sense now". Can't wait, love Brandon's movies.
Damn, Brandon has touch of his father in his work yet it make it his own. I freaking love it
If you want to get a sense of what this movie might be like, go watch Brandon Cronenberg’s last film Possessor. It’s a terrifying sci-fi body horror with some beautiful and haunting cinematography. The story and themes aren’t completely fleshed out or brought to the most satisfying conclusions, but the visual experience and horror of it all are enticing enough on their own
Cleopatra and Alexander in a movie together, I'm definitely in.
If Thomas Kretschmann plays in it, you already know in advance that he will play the Fegelein SS man.

my hunch is that they killed the real James and that they're trying to get his "clone" to fit in somehow, would make sense if at the end of the trailer the guy asks "Do you worry they got the wrong man?" in such a calm demeanor like how he did.
Skarsgard is a savage. Hold the Dark is one of my favorites. Can't wait for this.

Possessor was my favorite film of the last decade. I know this will be a must see.
Only thing it’s missing is Risenborough again. Her and Cronenberg really knocked it out of the park!
Agreed, its in my top favs of the decade alongside It Follows, Brooklyn and Parasite.
@@tinkerella - I still gotta see Brooklyn. It’s been on my list for awhile. Parasite was outstanding, a real masterpiece of a movie.
It Follows was something else. My wife and I fell in love with that movie from the instant we started it. That opening scene draws you right in along with the Disasterpiece Score. We watch it at lease twice a year, always during October.

this looks insane i’m so excited
Saw this last night - 10/10 recommend
Did not expected this to be this good. I think i'm in love.
(SPOILER ALERT) I just saw it, and since I can't find my interpretation anywhere, here it is. This movie is NOT a commentary on the rich being able to do whatever they want without consequences, quite the opposite. If you look at the movie that way, you will, and should, be disappointed. It's plain and simple: it's a story about growing up and being a different person in the process, and having to kill your old self in the process, every time. (So people finding it strange that clones retain all the memory of the original in the process, of course they do.) And you don't really grow mentally on your own, it's the confrontation with the world that makes you grow. It can be seen as brutal (as it often is), but also as an act of kindness when the world takes you somewhere where you go beyond your limits and comfort zone (limits of the « resort »), and you become a different person in the process. So, of course, every time a person is cloned in the film, it is the "old" person who dies, NOT the clone, hence the cuts on his face at the end. In order to become someone radically different, he had to kill himself (instead of being the spectator of his own murder, which can be identified as the personality change that occurs in oneself when the world and circumstances make you change but you refuse to change at the same time). The last time, he was killed by himself, like when we decide to change (even if it is under tremendous pressure, we act to change). Mia Goth says that he is a baby, then breastfeed him, because he is a « newborn » individual. We have also to consider the disappearance of the clone metaphorically: when you are reborn / when your become different / when you grow up, what happens to your old self? You merge with it. The old personality and the new personality. It's all you. So in the end, he kills himself and his old personality merges with the new one, leaving some scars from the old personality that he crushed, and the scars heal pretty quickly, as you can see. At the end, he talks to Em, an element of his old life, but he's a new person, so he can't go back to his old environment, and that has to be seen metaphorically too, so, not as a place, or specific person. But the things that surround us when we change. For example, we don't see most of the people we knew as children, because... we've changed, and have nothing in common with them anymore. So, he stays in his new environment, which for us means new friends, a new job, a new house, a new place too, etc. but in the beginning you don’t have many new friends in this environnement, so in the movie he is alone (but he will meet new people soon in this new environnement). I bet the (bad) writer now has something to say, aka in your life you are more mature. This ending falls flat and is really disappointing when you see it otherwise, but it's so great when you see it that way. So, in my opinion, this movie says: sometimes people push you to change, and you have your comfort zone and your limits, and you refuse to change, and it hurts (sometimes a lot) when you change, and it hurts even more when not only the circumstances make you change (someone killing your double), but when you decide to change (killing yourself), and you have traces of your old selves (cremation urns) in your luggage (memory). AND, there is this other dimension: if the movie moves you enough, as a great work of art should, you don't go through it without changing. So, during the movie, during the very act of watching it, you have effectively killed yourself and are now another person. The traces of your old self are in your luggage. How many cremation urns are there already? You tell me.
tl;dr
It's about rich people doing whatever they want.
Mayn only few people understood what is really going on in this movie, truely a masterpiece it is❤
You hit the nail on the head, it also greatly resonates with the psychedelic experience of ego death, I found this film to be an artistic masterpiece, totally surreal and instilled a creeping sense of dread and uneasiness in a raw unfettered way, seems to have gone over the head over many double digit IQ people in the comments here, but we should expect dumb people to fear what they dont understand by now in society.
Ironically, these people who are rejecting the film because they are disturbed are mirroring the theme of ego death in the film, having a painfuk experience because they refused to relinquish their narrow grasp of life while it was battered with thought provocation.
No it’s about what Hollywood actually does. Throwing the cloning right in our faces too.

I knew Mia Goth had horror / psycho queen written on her when I saw her in Nymphomaniac I and II, and A Cure for Wellness. Now in X, Pearl, and Infinity Pool. For those who havent watched it yet it is important knowing what the story is about before watching. It's important to help you understand what is happening, it will enrich the movie tenfold. Here it is-
It's about what happens when someone is so rich that they can buy everything and are becoming numb to life because if it. This is the roller coaster ride of when someone numb finds their way out of that endless spiral... Or, doesn't. The movie is a masterpiece. I love Brandon's work. Possessor Uncut was my favorite film of the latter 2010s. Mia Goth is overexposed to me. I've seen her too much and its time she ranks up to something like a big tentpole because her days as an indie actress are coming to an end.
I will definitely see this, even if the actors involved aren't my favorite.

Yeah, people here talking like she's just started out, *everyone* calling her the new scream queen just cause they've recently seen X and Pearl. She played the same "weird/crazy girl" role since Nymphomaniac ten years ago, cause of her looks.
The Survivalist and Cure for Wellness, any main part has basically been the same character, and if you don't just watch stuff that's "trending" you're completely right, I'm kinda tired of her by now.
