    Shock therapy made a great video on how to tie down your machine. The biggest take away is to tie it down closes to the knuckles since that doesn’t move. Anywhere that the machine moves it’s going to get loose. The only better option is the Erickson track system, which you tie the machine down from the tires.

    The best way to secure your quad is by the tires. RV haulers always do it by the tires and let the suspension move freely.

    Personally I prefer endless ratchet straps with no hooks. Strap runs around the anchor point on the machine, around the hook point to the trailer and back to the ratchet. No hooks to possibly come undone, no need for soft straps, and 2 runs of strap are handing the load.

    If you need to buy straps like this to prevent whatever you’re towing from getting loose, you probably shouldn’t be towing anything lol. Strap around the tires or as close as possible to the wheel and you’ll be good. Suspension can cycle all it wants and it won’t matter.

  • @boltactionshooter
    @boltactionshooter Před 5 lety +4

    MACs through wheel or over wheel is the best way BY FAR to tie down. Long travel suspensions do not take well to tying the suspension down and will still move and can load the straps and tear shit up on a big enough bump, the car still moves some too. Tie down by the wheels of tires and the straps never get loose and the machine never moves. I tow 10s of 1000s a year and I have to buy the best and am not given sponsors stuff to hype.

      @bigbluegpr Před 4 lety

      @@flynhi39 Until you get in a wreck while towing. Believe me, when your vehicle comes to a sudden stop at 60 mph and your quad is still moving at 60 mph inside the trailer (not tied down), it's going to blast through the side of your trailer like a cannonball. And your insurance won't do a damn thing when that flying quad hits someone or their vehicle, because you will be cited for failure to properly secure your load. An enclosed trailer has nothing to do with it. I have a buddy who got T-boned at an intersection, and the 3 quads in his trailer all became 800 lb missles. Better re-think your strategy!

      You are correct. Securing by ANYTHING that has the potential for travel is incorrect. Never tie down via chassis. Tie town by tires, hubs, or suspension location closest to the wheel hub. These straps are a band aid trying to compensate for what is an incorrect method to begin with.

      Danimal_C I was going to write a comment on this but was checking the other comments. I don’t know of any suspension company that would call theirs a giant no-no. My experience comes from the Jeep truck side but I do own a SXS and know of 2 people personally who have bent an A-arm and the other person did an equal goof up and attached to the sway bar out by the link. He broke it!
