    I watch and enjoy all your videos. I watched about this mitre gauge, and liked it. I went on banggood and put it in my basket yesterday . When I went to order last night it was out of stock. You have to pay £57 charges to come to England. I went back and saw you can order separate. The gauge is the only part in stock at the moment but when I ordered it there was no taxes. I'm thinking if you order both separate it negates the taxes. When the extension is restocked I will see if that's true. It might save your subscribers £50-60. Keep up the good reviews and you have an excellent workshop Dennis .

    Dennis, I have found your videos very informative and accurate, and indeed that is why I purchased this fence, but I think that you could improve this video by clearly mentioning that this fence is not for use on the right of a table saw. Other fences I have used could be set up for either side of the blade, and so it came as an unpleasant surprise to me that this one cannot. Banggood's information also fails to mention this limitation. While various comments have now raised the issue, it would still be possible for someone to watch the video and not read the comments, which is why I suggest that you highlight the issue either in the video itself or in your description.

    Dennis really knows how to pick winners.
    I have the red dial indicator, and I find it to be fine. Setup may be a little fiddley, but once it's set one shouldn't have to readjust it for the saw in the future.
    I also have the Hongdui miter gauge combined with the Enjoywood miter fence. Nice setup. The Hongdui fence looks excellent, but probably not worth upgrading in all practicality.
    I have the Wnew miter gauge and fence on my jobsite table saw, which I find to be more than adequate for that application.

    No matter how well you think you've aligned your miter slot to your blade, the best way to set the miter gauge fence is to square it to the miter gauge's miter bar. This is not only more accurate, it's far easier. Saw blade bodies may not be perfectly flat, and indexing off the teeth can damage your measuring instruments, not to mention compounding any error in blade to slot alignment into the miter gauge. If you think about using a miter gauge on a bandsaw or router table, you'll understand why squaring against a blade is not the best way.

My question is, if you have the miter gauge + fence, will this be equivalent or can be alternative for sled? I see a lot of videos people building sled with different sizes, each has it's own prons and cons. It seems to me they have the same purpose but it might be missing.

    Thank you for the great review on that miter gauge fence combination. Happy it arieved today but sadly i found one and really just one point what is not okey with it. It is the little screw on top of the micro adjuster it was broke off by delivery and was loose in the package and the broken thread in it quite hard to get. I don`t got the point why this single srew is made out of plastic in such a high quality product . Do you know is their a reason behind it? should i reclaim a new one by banggood or buy a new and better one somewere else becouse i'm not sure if it is a metric thread? Thank you for your help. I am currently building a MFT style worktable and I am still in the market for a fence. I was looking at the benchdog tool fences, but I am seriously impressed by this fence. Given that the price is comparable with the Benchdogs fence, I am wondering if this would be the better buy? The only downside to this Hongdui fence is that the benchdogs fence does come in longer lengths?

    • @fibbsjc
      @fibbsjc Před 7 měsíci

      Hey, I’m not sure I understand your comment here. This is a miter fence for use with a miter saw that runs on a table saw. Benchdogs (and I I own a LOT of their products) make truly fantastic fences, but they’re for use only with track/plunge saws. The fence shown in this video will not work on a MFT style bench top.

    • @wnxdarkraven
      @wnxdarkraven Před 7 měsíci

      @@fibbsjc I also own benchdog products and I was looking at the metric fence. I was just wondering if I could use this fence together with some quad dogs, since there is a groove in the back. Why would that not work?

    • @fibbsjc
      @fibbsjc Před 7 měsíci

      @@wnxdarkraven because the fence built for an MFT top takes into account the width of a track and whatever blade you happen to use since they cut on the right side of the track. IF the fence dogs are able to be mounted to this fence then I suppose in principle there’s nothing stopping you from using this fence to measure your material, but you’d always have to add the width of the track and blade to whatever the fence says your set at and that kinda kills any convenience and adds to much possible points of human error into the mix for my liking.

    • @fibbsjc
      @fibbsjc Před 7 měsíci

      @@wnxdarkraven btw, if you already own a fence from BDUK then you might not wish to pony up for cash for another, but I bought their metric/imperial fence precisely so that I could do both material measurements. That’s an option as well

  • @danielegger6460
    @danielegger6460 Před 7 měsíci

    I was waiting for this fence reviews for a few weeks already because the information on banggood was very lackluster. I think the price might be justified but it misses some tricks which make really unsuitable for me to buy yet another fence, especially at that price. My biggest gripe is that this (like other fences) is made to stop at or at least very close to the blade, seemingly assuming one might want to cut ridiculously short cuts as well (but then why offer a telescope function?) but short cuts are much safer and easier to execute with a sled. What I would rather like to see is a fence that has a scale which starts at a safe distance away from the blade so I can pull back the fence enough to not collide with safety features of the saw. I was checking whether it was possible to trim the included scale but it doesn't seem to be possible due to features depending to have metal bar with the scale in a defined length (also since it is reversible). Maybe Hongdui will listen and produce a version with a scale starting at 10cm (4" respectively) or offer a replancment scale with this offset so that I can actually use it properly.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 7 měsíci

      You can use the pin. That would give you 3a4 cm extra. But a sled is even closer. So why does that feel safe and this not?. You can place it +_ 3cm from the fence

    • @danielegger6460
      @danielegger6460 Před 7 měsíci

      @@HookedonWood A sled gives you a variety of options to fixate the workpiece, includes the "sacrificial fence" and prevents (typically also small cutoffs) from being accelerated back to the user. That makes it a primary choice for small pieces. Typically, that requires removing the protective hood and replacing it with a riving knife. However for all other usecases you definititely want to use the (mandatory as product feature in some markets!) blade guard hood, which clashes easily with a fence, especially this one since it is quite a a high one...
      A fence with flag stops is for me a feature to make repetitive cuts on medium to larger size work pieces where a sled or a miter saw quite literally doesn't cut it (or lacks precision). For small pieces those are much better tools...

    I bought this fence as soon as it was out, as I already own the Hongdui miter gauge. It’s worth mentioning that, unlike the one from Incra, the telescopic fence only extends to the left, making it unusable on the right side of the blade. And I hope they would ship the fence with the 2 screws to mount on the gauge, as mine are already lost😢

    • @warped_woodwerks
      @warped_woodwerks Před 6 měsíci

      How is the accuracy\precision?
      Also, that is crazy that this fence only extends to the left side of the table saw blade. To me that is a major flaw.
      If you take a closer look at how the fence is designed, you will see that the left side of the fence is the only side that has the angle cut, not the right side too, like the Harvey. Harvey has the angles on both sides of the fence, and you can move the fence extension to either side, Also, with the Harvey, if you have a left tilt or right tilt table saw blade, their fence makes more sense.
      Have angled cuts on both sides of their fence, as well as the ability to move the fence extension to either side, and they'll have a winner, imo.
      Overall, from looking at the pictures and videos, the Hongdui setup is nice, but I think they need to make a version 2.0 with the necessary updates.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 6 měsíci

      @warped_woodwerks you are indeed right about the side. I think 95% use it at the left from the saw blade. So it is a choice. Compared to the Harvey, they have even forgot to add a scale and a whole lot more. So, when you use it at the left. It is the most complete fence available at this moment

    • @warped_woodwerks
      @warped_woodwerks Před 6 měsíci

      @@HookedonWood Thank you for your response.
      I will agree, for most of your comment. The major gripe I have is that if you have a left tilt table saw blade, the Hongdui doesn't have a left tilt miter cut in their fence, like the Harvey. I think if their fence had that ability, I would purchase their miter gauge without hesitation.

    Hi Dennis, there are multiple options of this miter gauge on Banggood. Which one fits for the DeWalt 7942? The sellers answers are not very helpful..
    And you as an absolute hongdui specialist can maybe help me? Thanks so much and keep up the great work

    ATTENTION: Dennis - HOOKED ON WOOD
    I think Hongdui missed the boat here, just a little.
    Unlike the Harvey, for example, there isn't a mitered cut in the fence on the right side, so if someone has a left tilt table saw blade, you will have to move the fence further away from the blade and then there will be a large gap.
    Since one can't remove the fence extension, of the Hongdui, I am not sure why they even designed their miter fence to have a mitered\angled cut in it.
    Also, you can't remove the fence extension and move it to the right side of the fence, like the Harvey. I wonder why this is?
    If Hongdui made a few changes\updates to their fence (ability to move the fence extension to both sides as well as having angled\mites cuts on both sides, like the Harvey), I think they would have an even better miter gauge. Then again, wouldn't one just ultimately buy the Harvey, since they already have all of these options with their miter gauge?

    I think I will stick with my Incra fence which was also cheaper than this Chinese one.

      Nothing wrong with the INCRA of course. That this Fence cost more money, is obvious. Although I like INCRA, the quality of the fence is very basic, the ruler insert very simple, no sophisticated micro adjuster and you need tools to extend it or use the micro adjuster. So, it is very basic. This is of better quality, thicker aluminum, and everything can be done without tools.

    I got this back in Nov 2023. Was damaged upon arrival and still waiting for the replacement part. In my opinion, I will never order from Bangood again since the customer service in these types of circumstance is non existent. They have your money and you get damaged goods. Stick to the US or CDN made products where you will get treated much better.
