Hell yes! Finally an alternative to my EAT that doesn't take a backpack slot.
I think it was a bit unfair to compare it to the spear. Its main competitor are the EATs as a short CD expendable anti tank option.
@@LrdBxRck That's fair! I felt it was best to compare it to the spear because it's my favorite weapon, so if it can beat that, then I am going to use it.
The Commando has its uses, It can one shot a lot of structures in the weak point (If they have one). The first thing I found was the mortars, AA, and the large turrets have been one shot with the commando once I got into first person and aimed for the big yellow grate. For the hulks on the other hand I had a bit of trouble as... Well in this extreme case there where 4 of them and I was raiding the heavy outpost. Being in such close range to so many enemies was a nightmare. I was doing this solo and I have to say I couldn't test how many hits I needed.
@@LrdBxRck Actually, it has one thing in common with a Spear. It can one shot bot bunkers from any direction. I'd say the Commando is to the Spear what the EAT is to the Recoiless. It's a disposable version of it that leaves your backpack slot free.
The commando is surprisingly a great sidegrade to the EAT!
You can carry four missiles that oneshot hulks to the head, and the cooldown is only 2 minutes. And it absolutely wrecks bot bases, so that’s a huge win! Definitely gonna be my go to anti tank option for the bots, we’ll see how it handles bugs after we crush this order! For democracy!

Also am not really sure but I think 2 shots for cannon turrets and tanks in their weak point and 3 shots in any other place
It's hard to test them when they are trying to obliterate you

@@isaacd.m5547 I've two-shot turrets from the side reliably. It can also rapid fire shots, so no need to wait until the first one lands. Very good for quickly knocking out specific targets.
christ the gunships are tanky. This is why I run laser cannon it shreads them like tissue paper

And the rocket sentry is pretty good at hitting gunships, its tracking is superb

@@Astreious yes, fragmentation mainly against aircraft but can be against infantry. This is an airburst, so it explodes downward, so not great against gunships but might be decent against shriekers
Actually if u shoot the dropship thruster, it only takes 2 hits and the hulk's eye is a single hit from my experience. To me it just feels like a somewhat better EAT from what I heard it seems the dmg is lower than the EAT but the demo force of it is higher as same like the spear which is pretty great.
Plus the rockets are laser guided so that's a decent plus
It does feel more like an upgrade to the EAT in that you get 4 weaker shots with a bit longer cooldown.
Backpack or not also depends on if there is something else you want to use.
@@znail4675That’ll depend if it’s able to break through charger armor, which EAT can easily do. It think it’s fine if it can’t. The EAT would be good against bugs and this will be good against bots. Like I personally don’t see anyone bringing EATs against bots, only against bugs
It is also laser guided you can lead the rocket anywhere as long as you have line of site it is just a bad planet to test on with all the damn trees. To me it is a cooler version of disposable anti tank
Last night I was watching Asir Pass and we were going to win, then like 40mins later suddenly more divers were on the planet but we had no chance of winning....feels bad when the devs decide you are going to lose.

I grew up on bots but once I got to 7 plus the bots shooting through walls and blasting me under the map became a bit much for me.

As someone with 80k bot kills I understand why people focus on bugs and not on toasters.
The problem is how the game is designed and how bots perform, not about people choosing not to play the unfunny part of the game I'm afraid

It being able to destroy fabricators from all sides makes it great, can just stay far away and shoot without needing to position yourself

If they ever release the illuminate, I want a war bond that allows us to use weapons made from the enemy like a biowarfare weapons from the terminates maybe a very small kind of rocket launcher primary from the automatons and something from the illuminate and the armor could just be scraped and taken parts from the enemies armor
Chief the dominator is a primary rocket launcher, thats what a gyrojet bullet is
There was already an acid thrower in HD1, so a weapon utilizing terminite bile is a very likely future weapon
Honestly I'd like to see terminids gas thrower. I thought at one moment we were going to see the toxic gas grenades. (if you recall the ministry of truth news)

You do realize all our laser weapons and shield bp are just ripped straight from the illuminate right? Hell even our FTL is ripped from their technology.

Commando serves as a Expendable Anti-Tank rocket launcher with four missiles and a slightly higher cooldown time. Spear, while good at locking on to larger targets, still has some issues with locking onto targets.
A glitch had happened a while back on the defense of gacrux when it first came out. We we’re doing a tower defense mission and my mate had called down a spear, instead a commando spawned. We’re able to use it early against the bugs and it is WAY better to use against them than the bots
I absolutely LOVE the Commando in my opinion I think it’s the best support weapon. The Commando is going to be in my load out against bots when it comes available to buy. Note it pretty freaking good on the Evacuate High Value Assets especially on harder difficulties.
So it's basically an upgrade to expendable rocket launcher as it has 4 shots instead of two 1 shot blast. You can use a backpack with it essentially like a river.
I had someone in my squad who didn’t speak English that well. He was not sure how the commando worked and didn’t understand the explanations we provided. So he just tried it and we settled on explaining it as “fancy EAT”
I REMEMBER THIS FROM THE FIRST GAME! Glad to see it show up again i like the fact we now have a multi shot rocket launcher without a backpack that way you can have a different backpack like a shield one.
You’re looking at it wrong. It’s an EAT X2. That’s why it’s 140 seconds, double the EAT’s.
Love that the weapon name is an easter egg. Referencing the Schwarzenegger film of the same name where this MLRS was featured

Idk if this has been fixed but on a defend the 2 generator mission, a guy used a gatling sentry and it completely shot down every gunship that flew by. Was really blown away
The Commando originally had an ammo pack in HD1, it might or might not come back. Idk, but the Commando's current state could be explored. Maybe ring up the devs for a opt-in/out Commando Support Pack for reloads, or a faster stratagem cool down.
It would be awesome if it did. If not then that's not bad.
I was doing the rocket launch mission where you gotta close the doors, I was able to pick it back up off the floor after it was wasted and it didn’t automatically get discarded, I didn’t try to reload it however
You can take down gunships in 1 shot to the engines, 2 shots to the body. You can destroy a dropship in 2 shots to the engines. fabs get destroyed in 1 shot at any angle. You can kill a hulk in 1 shot to the eye, 2 shots to the front. 2 shots to kill a factory striders turret, 4 shots to the eye/belly to kill it. you can kill a tank and turret tower in 2 shots.
Its amazing.
For termanids, the commando 2 shots chargers and 4 well placed shots take out a titan. It's also great for the spore towers and shrieker nests. I was in a lobby last week and a random spawned them in (claimed they worked at arrowhead and were testing the weapon before launch but I'm pressing X to doubt on that one 😂)
We're all going to have a lot of fun with this new stratagem.
3:53 comando is homing (it homes at target you aim at ) and it 1 shots gunships . so it is good at taking out gunships . it can also 1 shot hulks if you hit them in the eye
I’m absolutely gonna run the commando once it’s in requisition. Been running a light, engineering kit loadout with scorcher and supply pack, and it feels great
It's a mix between the EAT and the Spear, it's so cool
I'm gonna be maining the Commando when they give it to us permanently. Truly has been the best thing I've ever used against bots. Feels like a 4 barreled EAT but the rockets have a guidance package on them.
The spartan, preatorian & wolf guard themed armors are really cool. I personally like that the special edition armor is linked to the lore and would like armors with distinctive design from past and storied campaigns “circle back to us”…

It may be a fire option for bile titans if they’re all headshots
I like the flare idea, could even give it a research upgrade. Have flares provide accuracy to some strats on weather cover planets or the effect modifiers. And maybe a fuse timer for grenades you change with the alternate functions when you hold reload.
We need to split 10k helldivers between vega and x45 each to secure both at the same time
I think the Commando is best compared to the Expendable Anti-Tank as it's a direct competitor as a secondary support weapon, and not the Spear which you would carry as a dedicated support weapon.
What I mean is, you come into a map with two support weapons; like a Grenade Launcher, Machine Gun, or Anti-material rifle. When you see a target of opportunity you call in an EAT, swap it out and expend both tubes, then grab your primary Support weapon and carry on. The Commando fulfills this role without the need to have to pick up two different EAT tubes to address threats before getting back your primary support in exchange for a bit longer of a cooldown. We'll have to see a more direct comparison to the damage to the EAT to see if it will outcompete the EAT in it's niche.

@@tstanemo8950 It competes with the Spear if that's the only thing you're looking for. It competes with the Spear in the same way it competes with any other support weapon, but it competes with the EAT over the Spear because it has more in common than it does apart.
As a dead space fan having maps with pure darkness and flares would make it so creepy and fun. I’m all for it
The commando reminds me of the disposable anti tank. This is an upgrade from the DAT for sure.
When you run a jump pack + secondary, this is a nice call down for a quick 4 shot, then back to normal secondary. You only get 2 pops with the DAT and must do a weapon swap between each shot.
I'm going to enjoy the commando.
Very fun to use, cant wait to see what it does to chargers too!
If it's amazing against chargers I might change my usual loadout. Instead of a Spear for chargers / bile titans, I'll use the good ole Commando.

@@LaserTractor I'm sure it'll be great overall for Terminids yet I was a bit disappointed that the shield devastators were unaffected by the rockets when a Hulk can be destroyed after laying down three shots.
@@GlitchUnlimitedunderstandable for the disappointment against the shield. Devastators, but I don't think you should use it against those. Anyway, you should save them for higher priority targets.
@@GlitchUnlimited Why would you waste 1/4 rockets on a devestator? thats what primary weapons are for. Use them for heavies like tanks or hulks.
Love the commando..1 shots everything crucial, fab from any side, easy to aim, no backpack, and if you leave 1 rocket you can reload it

The reason the commando doesnt deal with shield devastators easily is because they made the shield thicker than hulk armor, nothing can penetrate the shield
The Scorcher does a phenomenal job on devastators more than the Commando so I just swap back and forth now.
@@GlitchUnlimited that and the autocannon because the explosion radius can hit past the shield. Basically the shield blocks all damage except for explosives with a big enough radius
Can it drop a drop ship? I like to run eat with a AC or something else so it might turn into a random tool i call down for a sec then forget
I am absolutely loving the Commando. Fabs from any side, destroys Hulks, ships, and devs quickly. And it’s guided so moving targets are less of an issue.

This thing is amazing. It's like having 2 EATS in one launcher, that you can guide the rockets!!
4 of them, and each do more damage than eats, that you can hold at all times and not leave 1 behind if you didnt end up using them, with an very reasonable cooldown.

The if we cant is not naccessary. We have more than 70% of active players dedicated to this MO. There is virtually no way we fail.
The Roman/gladiator/Bronze Age looking concept armor is dope aesthetically. Just need solid armor passives so I’m not adding more useless costumes that I scroll past every time just to swap between my 2 go to armors that actually compliment gameplay

Sounds like it needs some buffs. As is, it seems like either the Expendable or the Spear are better options depending on what your focus is.
Its really convenient, the fact you have one extra stratagem because you don't need to get a support weapon is so fucking great.

The commando will be a great secondary support weapon to bring along, EAT's/commando, spear/commando, HMG/commando, etc.

Apparently 1 shot if u hit the eye. If not u can just quickly add a 2nd to the face.
Being able to bend a shot by painting the target after firing is an interesting feature. Not sure if its... useful yet. But possibilities.

As someone who used the EAT, it’s an upgrade
I think its comparable to the EaT moreso than the Spear. Comparing it to the EaT, it can benefit more from the reduced cooldowns ship modules due to percentages and it has a higher cooldown. It should also be very effective in bugs because I am sure it shouldn't take more than 2 shots to the head on a bile titan, which would mean you could take out 2 at a time, at worst it will take out 1. Chargers will be super effective as it probably will 1 shot normals and definitely will 2 shot behemoths, which means that unlike EaT you can take out multiple chargers at a time, and you don't even have to stun them like you often do with the flamethrower. Against bugs, probably a good combo with Breaker Incendiary or Dominator. Bots I found Scorcher to be effective, but have not tried others.
Given i have seen people pull EAT as backup weapons to med2pen weapons the commando will make for a far more effective backup item. 4 shots in the tube and able to take out factories is a pretty nice option to have even versus the precision strike and 500kg.
Curio this how it handles turrets tho.
x45 was not taken over, it was activley being invaded and we needed to defend it
Bro I was fighting on Aesir Pass almost the whole day, answering all sorts of SOS from Hard to Helldive, saved many Helldivers but also saw many perish… long story short we should’ve had more troops on Aesir rather than on Meissa
That wolf guard concept armor looks sick i wish that the helldiver devs add that armour in maybe a warbond called the hunters but it should be white and black not black and yellow
I like the commando. Not sure if it will be a regular, since one use launchers still hit harder and can oneshot a hulk, but the commando is a nice tool.

I like the commando rocket launcher. I feel like the cool down is a little too long because I need it sometimes and don't have it. I wish they would let you get rockets from ammo packs. The positive it doesn't take up a backpack slot.

I just tried it out and it’s pretty good. For fabricators was great and if you compliment it with the right weapons and stratagems. Not sure how good the Spear is on a jungle planet with so many trees
Plasma punisher stuns shielded devastates and they drop it, fire 1 commando rocket and it’s gone
So its like getting 4 EATs in on pod... I kinda like that.
Once again, x45 has never been lost. It's under attack. If we lost the defence it ends up at 50% hp (or 0%?) Either way, it's still currently ours until we fail the defence
The Commander for now can one-shot Fabs, as it are free strat => not cost Strat slot, use it with jetpack was a jam as it not consume backpack-slot
I think the Commando needs buff with dmg becuase it takes 3 rockets to shoot the engines of dropships and 2 for gunships good on hulks if headshots , but the EAT does way better compared with the Commando plus the laser tracking with the rocket is lacking , i would like to see in the future the laser tracker turn the rockets around after it rears off course like a boomarang and back pack reload for it just like from the orginal helldivers.
So basically inferior to the spear until they give us a backpack

The great thing about the new rpg you don’t need a bag pack so you can equip a shield weather its ballistic, jump pack or even shield generator which the spear cant so its great
Absolutely right! I tend to use 2 eagle stratagems, 1 Support (spear which will now be the commando) and shield backpack for those tough situations.

People can’t seem to stop missunderstanding the galactic map at all. We’ve never lost X-45, it’s just under attack. And we’d prevent this if people actually helped the planets that are in the path to X.
If you can call this in every 90 seconds your team will love it. Throw them around.

I find it hard to give up the sniper rifle vs bots. It's just too good vs hulks and devastators
Does anyone use the team reload mechanics or the other cooperative mechanics. I feel like Arrowhead should try and balance them because I think they aren't viable right now
i use them quite often on missions like the rocket defense mission, makes it a breeze to down all of the drop ships in a wave with RR
The spear and the commando ammo wise is the same shit u have a backpack with 3 rockets and 1 inside the launcher making it 4 and the commando just has them all in giving it a faster firing rate. Of course the spear does way more damage tho. Also if u accurately hit the drop ships engines, u can 2 shot them.

It feels great. You can shoot 1 at a time or rock and roll the full 4 to obliterate a small crowd on 9 bots jungle >:)
