Well done Whacstar! I’ll have to get me one.
I got my RT95 11 days ago as a shack radio for the same reason as you. I was struggling to be heard on my HT and wanted something with more power without breaking the bank because I'm more of an HF person and didn't want to spend a lot on a VHF/UHF radio.
It's so easy to use that I put the manual away after two hours. I already knew the radio fairly well by then. It's so easy to program in CHIRP-NEXT and the included programming cable has never failed to work, unlike the one I got for my Yaesu FT-60r which is hit or miss. I'm so impressed that I'm considering buying other Retevis radios in future.
The RT95 is nothing fancy. There's no digital voice mode, SSB, APRS or GPS or any of that. It's just a basic FM dual-bander that does what it says on the tin and lets you communicate, with enough power to get the job done and for not a lot of money vs. Big Three radios. To me it's simply a joy to use.
awesome stuff
