I found this information on "how to use four low off road" to be very helpful as a newbie off roader. The information shared in this video on the hill descent feature will be covered in more depth in a subsequent video.
This not only helped me with 4 Low, but also with the hill decent feature. Thank you.
Hey Les, Awesome. I’m glad it helped. Cheers.
This video solved my problem. Very very helpful, before I was confused with M+ & -. THANKS.
You are very welcome. Cheers
Great video, good things to know when you are out on the trail. Thank you for the mention at the end! I got to use my winch in my latest video to recover another jeep that got buried in some water/mud that was deeper than expceted.LOL
Right on!
Excellent video. Thank you. About to rent a Jeep and this was very helpful.
Hey Tuneutupful,
I’m glad you found the video helpful. Have fun.
Cheers
Very informative. I can't wait to get my JL off road! I'm only a few hundred kilometers and some recovery gear away:)
Hey Randy, Thanks for the feedback. COVID slowed down my introduction to off roading, but I'm keen to get out there more now. I'd recommend starting out on easier runs to get comfortable with what you'll be putting your new rig through.
Good vid.
Thanks.
Love it-)
Hey Arsim,
I was wondering if you were going to check this one out!!! I’m glad you liked it.
Cheers
Just wondering can I press the gas pedal or brake while doing downhill in 4 LOW?
Hey Sherry,
Yes you can, without issue.
Cheers
Just as stated, it is good to go with more than one when out on trails, etc.. We also go off-road with only one vehicle, at times. Our risk management was to purchase a Warn winch in a cradle that can go into out rear hitch, and for which we installed a hitch in front as well. Warn has cables to run from the battery to a location near the hitch, and caps to keep them clean. This way a person can pull themselves forward or backward, depending on the need. NOT A PERFECT SOLUTION, but it works for us. It is likely other winch makers have similar systems, I only know Warn’s system - this is not meant as advertising for them.
Hey Fred, Thanks for sharing. Sounds interesting. Cheers.
Hey cheaper jeeper do you know of any off road trails in Ontario like in and around the GTA??
Hey Aaron, There are a few relatively close to the GTA. I found that joining your local approved Ontario Federation Four Wheel Drive Club is a good place to get details on this. For example, you can join a local club for say around $10, then get a 50% discount to the OF4WD. Turns out costing you less than to just join the OF4WD. Then, the members of your club or the Trails page on the OF4WD site will give you details on the trails in your area of interest. Here is a link to OF4WD approved local clubs. I'm a member of the TriCity Jeep Club. Some clubs like the TCJC have weekly meetings(ZOOM for now) and workshops. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers.

Fantastic video, information like this is gold. Thanks for sharing.
I sent you a message on Facebook, hope to hear back from you.
Hey thanks. I’ll reach out to you on FB in around an hour as I’m out at the moment. Cheers.
Great video!! 2 questions:
1. Does your Jeep Sahara wander to the right or left when the steering wheel is dead center straight and driving?
2. Have you gotten the steering gear fix (TSB 08-074-20) yet?
Hey Deep C,
Thanks for the feedback about the video.
1) It wanders a little bit, but this is my first Jeep ever, so I'm not sure if it's bad or not.
2) I am over 100,000 kms on my Jeep already so I don't know if the TSB will be covered under warranty. I'm also afraid they might make it worse.lol
On my 2020 gladiator my 4wd stick selector is loose and I can’t engage into 4x4?
Definitely time to take it to the dealer. Cheers.
I went offroading for the 1st time on my 2021 rubicon wrangler.. and mine wont stay on 4 lo.. it keeps going back to Neutral.. had to use 4high
Hey iambryan, Did you take it to the dealer and find out what the issue is?
If i get stuck or struggling to climb a rock and already in 4L should i swap to manual and shift to 1st gear ? Can i give a lot of power in 1st gear?
Maybe it might be advisable to already be in first gear if you’re slowly climbing a rock.🤷🏻♂️
I was testing my out my 4H and 4L when I first got my Jeep. I have a 2019 Jeep Rubicon JLU When I shifted into 4L and going in a straight line my Jeep started bucking. I was in fact on dry pavement but is this normal when going in a straight line? I know gear bind and crow hopping happens when you turn in 4WD but I feel like it should not happen when going in a straight line.
Hey Ansh, Why don't you try putting it into 4L on gravel, and see if you still get hopping. I've never put. my Jeep into 4L on pavement, and don't know what if it would hop when in 4L.
@@CheaperJeeperTV I will try that and let you know what happens. Thanks!
Yeah, don’t put your Jeep into 4L on dry pavement
@@AustinH7 7 months and a few badge of honors later and I have fully figured out how to use my 4WD hahah
Ansh, That’s awesome!
Disfrutar.
Cool video. But why did Jeep reverse what used to be an industry standard. It used to be with automatics, pulling the lever did a downshift and pushing the lever did an upshift.
Hey Bill, Thanks for the feedback on the video. As for Jeep reversing the industry standard when shifting up or down the gears, I really couldn't tell you. Sorry. Cheers.
I have a manual transmission and not a expert on Offroading, little nervous about burning out my clutch
Hey Hardlife, There is an important piece of info for those with a manual transmission and going onto off road trails where there will be deep mud. I can’t explain in it all here but you should look for that info given you have a manual. I may end up doing a video in it at some point.
Test drive available
Hey Bond, Thanks for watching. Cheers.
Nice to your videos.......but really need test drive
