This products is incredible! In reference to the latest update (v.1.3) I'd like to submit feedback and suggest the ability to switch between kits while looping. I understand the A/B function of each pad but sometimes it's cool to utilize that function melodically and assign 2 octaves to a pad. I'd then like to be able to switch to a new kit while the looping is playing, as opposed to having to assign the saved loop to a pad in a new kit and no be able to build it any more. And also fix on the audio tail in looper mode. Sound clips when looper stops, and FX like reverb and delay clip at the end of loop. Hope these suggestions make some difference! Thanks for all the helpful videos so far, and again, a great product.
I have the Alesis sample pad pro😕,, Really want to get this new one because it can do what I thought the sample pad could do, and would be so much fun for me and my son to play on.
Please please please make kit changes easier! Roland has their sounds and loops playing even after changing the kit, and they have instant changes! If you can make kit changes instant without loading time, I would be so happy.
I just purchased this multipad, instead of Roland, because of the hihat controller input (Roland doesn't have it), assuming that hihat controller input means that I can have a single pad assigned to hihat and vary the closed-to-open sound with the hihat pedal (that's what everyone assumes). So far so good, right, because that is what is shown here for this feature update. BUT YOU JUST USED UP FIVE PADS TO DO IT? How am I supposed to build the rest of my kit of drums and cymbals if there are only four pads left? ALESIS! PLEASE! Release a firmware for us to control the hihat with a single pad without having to use up more than one pad to configure it! And don't make the user have to do so much programming to get it to work! We really need a tutorial video on just configuring hihat. (Also need a tutorial on wave a/b. Also need a better manual that teaches all this stuff so we don't have to get it from videos.)

The Roland KT-8 Kick pedal works with it as does the FD-8 Hat controller. However, the open/close are backwards on the hat controller and I don’t know how to reverse them. Perhaps a different cable would do the trick.
HI-HAT OPTION: Instead of giving up multiple playing surfaces for your Hi-hat; Set your 'CLOSED' to the pad you want to play on. Move your bass input to the 4/5 trigger and assign your 'OPEN' here. Group, and put your bass pedal back. (Assumes you are not using all the trigger inputs.) I recommend building your hi-hat with pads and getting them dialed in first, then copying the OPEN pad(s) to the trigger(s). (Single hi-hat pad, should be a feature) It would also be great if we could scroll to select the trigger and switches with the interface instead having to plug something in to do so.
So what you are saying is to sacrifice some trigger input(s) for your hihat group instead of using up more than one of the built in pads? It's a good idea, but unfortunately I'm using up all the external trigger inputs too. Alesis didn't do the hihat control right at all on this gear! At any rate, thanks for the suggestion, and I'll give this a shot (sacrifice one of the trigger ins).
Another tip: lets say you have bass pedal on trigger input 1 and a couple dual-zone pads on 2/3 and 4/5. You could sacrifice the second zone of each of those pads by assigning trigger inputs 3 and 5 to another two hihat sounds (half open and full open). Just be careful to not hit the rims of your dual zones since those are now hihat sounds.
One more tip: there are four foot-pedal switch inputs that can also be assigned sounds! Try assigning your second and third hihat sounds to an unused foot-pedal input 3/4 and add those to your hihat group! (Gonna go see if this works, wish me luck)

The Strike Multipad has been unavailable for months in Europe. I ordered and paid upfront but the store had to cancel and refund my order because their supplier (Alesis?) cannot deliver this product. Please get your product to Europe so I can buy it! You are really missing out on a lot of revenue from potential customers.
I'm impressed with this and I'm in the market for a new multipad unit... But... that's kind of a weird way to handle the hi-hat. This thing can't stack MIDI notes? So a decent hi-hat means chaining together a group of pads? Instead of assigning a group of sounds to a single pad? That's weird. Any chance of stacking MIDI notes in a future upgrade?
I’m confused about the hihat mode. Are you saying that you cannot get the open-closed hihat sounds from just one pad and a hihat pedal as you could with a normal electronic drum kit? Second question, is there likely to be a quantise function for loops in any future update? Third question, when will these be available in the UK?!
I can't seem to hear a sound from the hi hat pedal after I assign the closed hi hat chick sound to it. I'm using an older Roland pedal FD-6, which works great as a controller to the grouped hi hat pads, but do I need an Alesis or a newer pedal to get it to make a sound?
These are nice features WOW ! . Maybe with setting multiple slices in the waveform ( each slice mark would belong to a pad) you could really play the loop in pieces.. Would be also a nice and fast feature ( for a future release maybe). This is the best Multipad i' ve seen yet and it keept me away from buying the Roland one yesterday as was almost buying it and lucky me that I found some video on youtube about this new Alesis here. Oh I cant wait to buy this beast. Sadly its sold out everywhere. Huge waiting times in the shops here.. If i could buy one now i would directly. At amazon i saw some but they are tripple priced from Japan even... Its a pitty . Only a miracle could help it :D
@@La_sagne [ I believe this is a reference to switching between preset kits. This is one challenge with the Alesis unit. When you select a new kit, it stops the currently playing sounds and takes about four seconds to load the new kit. Competitors allow you to - for instance - let a cymbal crash ring out at the end of a song WHILE switching to a new kit for the next song. This is a feature - along with layered hi-hat sounds on a single pad controlled by the HH pedal - that Alesis should DEFINITELY add.
WTF? So if I want to have a variable HH I have to lose 4 pads and render them useless? Why not just make the HH controller capable of variable control without having to lose half the functionality of the unit like every other product on the market? FAIL.
I have a question? I am a new user and was wondering if you reset the multipad back to factory settings. Do you lose your firmware updates. I currently have 1.2 and l haven't updated to 1.3. l am thinking of updating to 1.3, but I have heard there could be a problem with that update. I am not experienced enough with this unit, and I am afraid l will screw up. I bought a brand new unit that was used a couple of times and stored away, so it had a few changes to the original kits. I want to start fresh with the unit..

is there a way to save "set lists"? The roland spd-sc can save up to 8 set list with 20 entries each...i'd buy this MultiPad if it has a that feature. Obviously the set list is for performances.

Hi Roberto. With v1.1, the hi-hat groups functions at the PAD level, so you can't use different wave layers in the way you're describing. You don't need to use 5 pads to get a good dynamic hi-hat sound either though - even 3 pads in the group should give you a solid variation in your hat sound. Your idea will make a great feature request though. I'll submit it to our product team! :-)

I am sorry but this guide is not enough for me. Did everything right but it cannot find update file on the flashdrive. Did FAT formatting too. How to save this file to the flashdrive? Any advice?

What a crap Firmware Update, it has BLOCKED and DISABLED the Multipad. After almost a year using it with the firmware version that comes from the factory, 1.0.0, if I know I don't update it. Following all the steps prior to updating the Firmware as indicated by its instructions, which I have translated into Spanish, I have formatted a new and empty USB Flash drive to FAT32, although it already comes by default in FAT32, but to prevent anything; Then I copied the LDST_UPD.DAT file, which is the Firmware that comes in the download folder, on that USB Flash drive, the one I took with the Windows External Drives disconnector to remove it correctly from the USB port of my computer and that there are no errors the flash drive. Next, I have inserted the USB memory with the device turned off, as the video and PDF instructions of the Firmware download say, I have simultaneously pressed the BPM and Metronome (Click) buttons, and later, I have turned on the device, A White screen has appeared and the Multipad has stayed there, blocked and unusable, in fact I don't know why they call it a blue screen if in videos like this one from the manufacturer itself as from other people on CZcams updating the device, it is a white screen not blue, but hey, that's what they call it, blue screen... they will know, or should know.... Following the manufacturer's instructions to the letter, and step by step, after having seen and been afraid to update the hardware, already with the prior notice of the firmware update instructions themselves, that it can be blocked if you do not follow the steps correctly, still following the steps has been blocked. Be careful when updating that it crashes or causes problems, I have requested a return to the store where I bought it, and if the new one that I buy again gives me problems, I will publish again and warn everyone to be careful when buying this product from Alesis and to buy better from the competition. Roland, for example, which is surely more reliable and gives fewer problems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ESPAÑOL---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vaya mierda de Actualización de Firmware, me ha BLOQUEADO e INUTILIZADO el Multipad. despues de casi un año utilizandolo con la version de firmware que viene de fabrica, la 1.0.0, si lo se no lo actualizo. Siguiendo las Instrucciones del fabricante al pie de la letra, y paso por paso, después de haber visto y tenido miedo de actualilzar el hardware, ya con el aviso previo de las propias instrucciones de actualizacion del firmware, de que se puede bloquear si no sigues los pasos correctamente, aún siguiendo los pasos se ha bloqueado. Cuidado al actualizar que se bloquea u da problemas, he solicitado una devolución a la tienda donde lo compre, y si el nuevo que vuelva a comprar me da problemas, volvere a publicar y avisar a todo el mundo que tenga cuidado de comprar este prodcuto de Alesis y que compre mejor a la competencia. Roland, por ejemplo, que seguro es mas fiable y da menos problemas.

You don't need to use 5 pads to get a good dynamic hi-hat sound either though - even 3 pads in the group should give you a solid variation in your hat sound. Your idea will make a great feature request though. I'll submit it to our product team! :-)

I am sorry but this guide is not enough for me. Did everything right but it cannot find update file on the flashdrive. Did FAT formatting too. How to save this file to the flashdrive? Any advice?

I think the easiest way would be to sample them directly into the SMP via the Record In

What a crap Firmware Update, it has BLOCKED and DISABLED the Multipad. After almost a year using it with the firmware version that comes from the factory, 1.0.0, if I know I don't update it.
Following all the steps prior to updating the Firmware as indicated by its instructions, which I have translated into Spanish, I have formatted a new and empty USB Flash drive to FAT32, although it already comes by default in FAT32, but to prevent anything;
Then I copied the LDST_UPD.DAT file, which is the Firmware that comes in the download folder, on that USB Flash drive, the one I took with the Windows External Drives disconnector to remove it correctly from the USB port of my computer and that there are no errors the flash drive.
Next, I have inserted the USB memory with the device turned off, as the video and PDF instructions of the Firmware download say, I have simultaneously pressed the BPM and Metronome (Click) buttons, and later, I have turned on the device, A White screen has appeared and the Multipad has stayed there, blocked and unusable, in fact I don't know why they call it a blue screen if in videos like this one from the manufacturer itself as from other people on CZcams updating the device, it is a white screen not blue, but hey, that's what they call it, blue screen... they will know, or should know....
Following the manufacturer's instructions to the letter, and step by step, after having seen and been afraid to update the hardware, already with the prior notice of the firmware update instructions themselves, that it can be blocked if you do not follow the steps correctly, still following the steps has been blocked.
Be careful when updating that it crashes or causes problems, I have requested a return to the store where I bought it, and if the new one that I buy again gives me problems, I will publish again and warn everyone to be careful when buying this product from Alesis and to buy better from the competition. Roland, for example, which is surely more reliable and gives fewer problems.

Vaya mierda de Actualización de Firmware, me ha BLOQUEADO e INUTILIZADO el Multipad. despues de casi un año utilizandolo con la version de firmware que viene de fabrica, la 1.0.0, si lo se no lo actualizo.
Siguiendo todos los pasos previos a la actualización del Firmware tal y como indican sus instrucciones, que he traducido al Español, he formateado una unidad Flash USB Nueva y vacía a FAT32, aunque ya viene por defecto en FAT32, pero por prevenir antes de nada;
después he copiado el archivo LDST_UPD.DAT que es el Firmware que viene en la carpeta de descarga en esa unidad Flash USB, la de sacado con el desconector de Unidades Externas de Windows para quitarlo correctamente del puerto USB de mi ordenador y que no de errores la unidad Flash.
A continuación, he introducido la memoria USB con el dispositivo apagado, tal y como dice el video y las instrucciones en PDF de la descarga del Firmware, he pulsado simultaneamente los botones BPM y Metronomo (Click), y posteriormente, he encendido el dispositivo, me ha aparecido una pantalla Blanca y ahi se ha quedado, bloqueado e inutilizable el Multipad, de echo no se porque lo llaman pantalla azul si en los videos como este del propio fabircante como de otras personas que hay en youtube actualizando el dispositivo, es una pantalla blanca no azul, pero bueno, asi lo denominan, pantalla azul... ellos sabrán, o deberían saberlo....
Siguiendo las Instrucciones del fabricante al pie de la letra, y paso por paso, después de haber visto y tenido miedo de actualilzar el hardware, ya con el aviso previo de las propias instrucciones de actualizacion del firmware, de que se puede bloquear si no sigues los pasos correctamente, aún siguiendo los pasos se ha bloqueado.
Cuidado al actualizar que se bloquea u da problemas, he solicitado una devolución a la tienda donde lo compre, y si el nuevo que vuelva a comprar me da problemas, volvere a publicar y avisar a todo el mundo que tenga cuidado de comprar este prodcuto de Alesis y que compre mejor a la competencia. Roland, por ejemplo, que seguro es mas fiable y da menos problemas.
