    with me it was just swollen lymph nodes, nothing else.. went to the Doc, had blood samples and they came back clean, so nothing to worry about, right? Well, about a week later I saw my dentist for a regular check up, she noticed my lymph nodes, as they were still swollen, and referred me to the ENT specialist, and he was very alarmed, and here we are now, waiting for my 1st PET CT scan ready for radiation/chemotherapy.. So don't take these things for granted, it doesn't hurt anyone to get it checked

I have no trouble swallowing, but the the area under my jaw is a little sore.

    Thanks for your video. My daughter was diagnosed a month ago and is waiting for surgery. She has a tumor in the back lower jaw. Its spread to the back of her throat and another tumor is now in the lymph node under her jaw. They will be removing the entire left lower jaw followed by 37 radiation treatments and possibly chemo. She thought she had a wisdom tooth coming in. Would have never expected throst cancer. We are terrified. Good luck to you. I wish you all the best.

I know it is a very frightening experience to hear the news, then hear the treatment plan. I can not imagine what you all are going through. Please pass on my best wishes to your daughter for a quick recovery and relatively easy surgery. Feel free to email us if we can do anything, and please keep us updated.

      @@theregularguy141 Thank you so much. I got sidetracked in my post because everything is so front and center right now. What I meant to convey to people is that oral/throat cancer is VERY un-talked about, but very real. Alot of people think oh, I don't smoke so I'm safe, but that isn't true. 50% of throat and oral cancers happen to non-smokers. Cripes, I am almost 70 years old and not one time in my life has a dentist ever mentioned oral/throat cancer to me. It's never been mentioned to self check like for breast or prostate cancer. My own family doctor has never brought it up. 12,000 people die yearly from this. If your youtube channel brings awareness to even just a few people who tell more people, then this is a good thing.

    I just went into my Dr, I've had a sore throat for about a month now, redness in my throat and nasal passage. I was prescribed medicine for allergies and GERD even though I don't have GERD. Was told to take some medicine for GERD, for a week, and Claritin for the other if that doesn't work. I'm going to have my throat imaged.
    I'm nervous as hell, I'm only 20, and I'm scared. I do have some swollen lymph nodes, and I don't know. I just want reassurance, I don't think I can wait another two weeks for a diagnosis and the another to be imaged. my previous doctor dismissed my swollen lymph node and the redness in my throat on Feb 6. I don't want to die young. I had all these plans, and I guess this long comment is to vent because I don't want to tell anyone else and have them worry for me.
    I wish you sincere luck on your battle. Sorry for the long comment on your video.

      Hi Supreme,
      I get being nervous. Who wouldn't be? From what i have read, while not impossible, it is rare for someone who is in their 20's to get throat cancer. My diagnosis period lasted almost 4 months, with all of the doctor visits, scans, tests etc. Your condition sounds very much like my own daughter who has a lingering sinus and inner ear infection. (About a month as of today). Trust your doctor and keep going with the meds. If you seriously feel that something else is going on, ask to be referred to a ENT specialists and they can take a deeper look into your throat.

    • @theregularguy141
      @theregularguy141  Před rokem +1

      Well, mine presented itself as a red bump on my tonsil. If you have a white polyp, I wouldn't waste any time. My advice would be to see your family doctor and get a referral (if necessary) to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. Although we can see or feel things that are suspicious to us, it will take a specialist and some testing to identify what your polyp could be.

      Hi University,
      I agree that having a sore throat for so long does sound a bit suspicious, however that does not necessarily mean that you have throat cancer. If you have doubts about the doctor's assessment, then I would recommend getting a second opinion and discuss the chance of having throat cancer with the doctor.

      Not necessarily. There are several reasons. It could be a antibiotic resistant infection, swollen glands or throat. It could be saliva stones etc. Follow your doctors advice and completely go through the antibiotic course. Then, if you are still having trouble, get a referral to an ENT specialist.

      Hi Brent,
      In FEB of 2021, I originally went in to see the family doc about a sore throat, ear ache, and swelling in my neck. When the swelling was still there after about 2 weeks, I went to the ENT. I had 2 ultra sounds and then a biopsy of a lymph node. This was about April. That result was the initial cancer diagnosis. In May I had a CT and CT with dye (to determine the primary tumor). In June I was in the Oncologist's office for the PET/CT and then scheduling for Chemo/Radiation. That started in early July. I would say it was the fine needle biopsy in April was the first diagnosis that got the "cancer" treatment train started.
