    Some clarification for Loro Piana. The company was founded by the Loro Piana family in the 1920s as a textile company and morphed into the largest manufacturer of cashmere and fine wools in the world. At some point in the 1990s, if not the 1980s in Italy, the company began to produce clothing (jackets, coats) for both men and women, as well as shawls, etc. Shortly after that they began to manufacturer handbags, gloves, mittens, wallets, belts, etc. I purchased these items at their New York, Palm Beach and Aspen retail boutiques in the late 1990s, aughts and onward. This began long before Mr. Arnault became involved and the family was already very wealthy.
    Public information states that LVMH purchased 80% of the company in July of 2013 and the remaining 20% is still owned by the family. I believe the sale was prompted by the forthcoming death of Sergio Loro Piana in late 2013. Yes, the group has more access to capital, but I suspect the family is still very much in charge of the creative direction. I think they did not need to source more talent. Everything they manufacturer is perfection, particularly clothing, shawls, etc. The garments are timeless, elegant, intellectual and sophisticated. They produce nothing over designed, over-wrought or vulgar.Lastly, the Loro Piana family basically has a monopoly on the Vicuna raw material market. Vicuna is perhaps the most luxurious natural material in the world and is only found in the Andes mountains. Loro Piana is in partnership with the Chilean government to protect the species and reinvest proceeds into the local community while harvesting the "wool."
    Finally, IMHO, while I find the Sesia bag beautiful in many ways, I also find it cumbersome in its thickness. This is a similar thought I have regarding the Brilliant by Delvaux. Bags that are too thick on the bottom, even though they may taper towards the top, look a bit clumsy. I am not referring to tote bags. This is a thought regarding top handled structured bags. My preference is the Asprey 167, as it is mindful of elegance regardless of the angle of view.

      @SoAnesu  Před 2 lety

      Thank you.
      That’s exactly what I like about the Sesia the thickness! I like most Asprey’s bags I spoke about a few in my hierarchy but not 167 if i remember correctly but the brand as a whole is amazing.

    Would also be interested to hear your takes on Cuyana as entry level/mid tier luxury (and their System tote) as well as Jenni Kayne. I feel of two minds about JK- I have two of the cashmere cardigans and absolutely love them. But some of the other items - it just feels like everything is entry-level priced at $350+, but I don’t necessarily feel like each item commands or deserves such a price. Would love another perspective. ❤️

      Unfortunately I’m not US based so it’s a little tricky for me to talk about US brands without seeing and touching the products. I do mention Cuyana briefly in my cashmere video but I’ll try and explore both brands next time I’m in the US.

    I’ve randomly been targeted by Métier for a while now (mostly paper mail, catalogs etc) and that bag is so gorgeous. I also like the unique look of the Market bag. But my style and life (36, living in nyc solo) feel more compatible with a slightly more edgy/graphic look. Example, I also love the brand Roucha for clothes and just got my first Saint Laurent (the Niki in medium) that can feel more laid back casual, but still refined. Love to see this brand getting recognized..!

    • @SoAnesu
      @SoAnesu  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! I’m also wary of suede but the Mètier suede is thick and sumptuous, it needs to be squished to be believed! I’m dreaming of it as a weekend bag so I would typically use it once a month and it’s not getting checked it! My thinking is it won’t get battered and I won’t be over using it! Win, win right?

    Thank you, Anesu! I just discovered your channel today and you are absolutely spot on! I have been enjoying Loro Piana for several years as I am definitely in the low key luxury style. I love quality but, frankly, I would rather not show off. My first LP was the Milky Way, which I bought in 2015 and It still looks brand new. The leather is amazing. I purchased since other two bags and I have been so pleased that I finally purchased a medium Sesia. Stunning. The craftmanship is superb.The size is perfect although a bit uncomfortable wearing as a crossbody bag so I enjoy it as a handle bag. I will definitely check the Metier brand as well.

      @@SoAnesu First time I ever dropped money on bags was 20 years ago. I used to buy Kipling. Then I went for Chloe and Mulberry. And then up to Gucci and Bottega Venetta/ Now I buy dupes, bevies they are as good as the real thing. I’m bored by luxury brands now. Chanel cheats customers with their inflated proses and poor workshops. Dior is boring again. And Fendi, which used to sell my unicorn bag raised the baguette prices by one and two thousand pounds more. Then I discovered‘stealth wealth’. Those gorgeous bags and accessories you can’t put a name to and the quality knocks you out. Like Metier. And DeMellier. Classy looking bags. With a little Je Ne sais pas!

      Yes I’ve heard of the brand it’s amazing! When Ramesh left Moynat I kept wondering where he would surface and then low and behold. Ramesh is someone I would say I would confidently buy anything he is involved with without knowing anything about the brand because he personifies excellence in the brands he works with and his creative ability. He is an under the radar connoisseur.
      I’m trying to put together a long overdue Parisian trip and Joseph Duclos will be one of my stops. Please stay tuned.

    Hello, I am in total agreement with you regarding quality vs recognizeble brands. I was aware of loro sesia and would love to purchase one day. I subscribed based on this post as you have introduced me to Metier!!! ….The bags are gorgeous however as I am approaching retirement I already treated myself to Givenchy Soft Antigona but hesitant as I don’t fancy any of the their wallets ….So back to Metier
    How would you rate their SLG
    I like the A6 envelope as well as Small wallet and the medium currency wallet. I would be ordering from US and wonder about customer service if any issues come up after purchase.
