    I loved the one you reviewed three years ago , with the huge glass roof and, hey 1.100 HP which I suppose its way enough. This one I like more with the covered wheels ( more sinister). Anyway , I think these Lucid cars are really something to consider in the EV world. far more refined than Tesla in every sense, particularly the build quality and probably the best looking in terms of design, far more than the new dull Mercedes Benz EVs or others and hugely practical with not only one but two big trunks. If you can not touch the engine like in the other counterparts, at least they should do like Lucid and allow you to use all space available. Fantastic cars and awsome vid Doug. By the way many congratulations for the improvements, The Porsche , the Lamborghini and the new members of the team. Alanis and Kennan are the perfect complement to the already great channel which I started to follow when a very young and shy Doug was shooting under the rain in Philly or another cloudy landscapes in the East coast. Much love from West Spain bud🙂

      @@thedumbconspirator4956any tesla interior is like this, and that's the reason I'll never buy one. Big part of comfort is the ability to sit in and immediately feel everything is in the right place, and even if I can get used to the weirdness they force you into, I'll never feel "good" about it because it's not better than the "old way", it's just different for the sake of it.

      @@thedumbconspirator4956 More like 95% of the performance and 2.25 times cheaper with track pack and tax not included which would increase this difference drastically. The handling is much worse in the lucid. It is a VERY heavy car. Plaid weighs 4766 pounds while this car weighs a whopping 5256 pounds! If you care about that .1 second 1/4 mile time then get two plaids and remove the interior of one plaid and get below 9 second quarter mile times.

    Interesting little journey I had trying to figure out why the range of this thing was so much better -- 20% more than the Model S Plaid. The answer is simple: the battery is a bit bigger (113 vs 100). Drag ratios are the same, but the improved powertrain presumably accounts for the rest.
    It's weird how these companies don't talk about the size of their battery packs anymore. I'm still not 100% sure how big my Tesla's battery pack is, though the internet seems relatively confident of it's size. But they treat the range as something mystical when it's mostly just a bigger battery. Props to Lucid on the motor improvements, though. From what I hear it's a pretty neat innovation.

      @Tike22 Před 7 měsíci +2

      No I remember way back when when Tesla stopped naming the models of their cars P85D 100D 75 etc. they just condensed everything into names, standard and long range.
      There were multiple reasons like the numbers are generally meaningless to the avg consumer (how much better is a 85kwh battery than a 75), another reason was it put a strain on the production for Tesla(especially back then-ramping up) since they were making so many models to order. And prolly the biggest reason was that they just didn’t want to show the battery numbers to ppl. Can’t recall if there was an official reason but ppl speculated back then that it was about not showing the buyer (or journalists) every piece of information-maybe to hide it from competitors as well. Doesn’t really make that much sense though when shops can deconstruct the car and just examine it.

      In 2015 I traded an Audi R8 V10 Spyder (with stick shift) for a Tesla Model S P90D. I now own a 2021 Model S Plaid and a 2022 Lucid Air Dream Performance. The powertrains of powerful EVs certainly convey a different vibe from an ICE vehicle, but they are anything but soulless. The speed and fluidity with which their power comes on is otherworldly. And the extremely low centers of gravity of these cars (due to the underfloor battery placement) give them handling that utterly belies their size and weight.

    Hey Doug, I have a question - I friend of mine just got back from test driving couple electric cars and he shared something I have never heard you mentioned in your reviews. What he told me was related to the feel how the car drives/ride - so you are driving the car and the batteries are under you and at some point you start feeling like a pendulum(between the front and the rear axel), because the heavy things are under you and everything above them its just... light and you feel like you are going back and fort, left and right freely like the ball at the end of the pendulum. Not sure if I explained it well.
