    My watermelon peperomia started getting root rot. I reported it and moved it to a brighter location and it is doing fantastic.

    Yes, please keep us updated on progress. I chopped off the nearly-dead strand and popped the cutting in water. Hoping it will rehydrate and send out new roots from the aerial root nodes!

    I’ve never been able to recover a plant with far gone root rot - once the leaves are all shriveled, it’s probably over. Agree totally on not letting a Hoya, or most plants, sit dry for too long. Just as bad as overwatering. I water when dry, which means I have to check them often because I don’t want the dry period to last too long. I also have my Hoyas in plastic orchid pots. They grow in trees in their native environment, with lots of air circulation to the roots. They get rained on a few times a day and then dry out quickly. So a fast draining soil, like one made for aroids, and orchid pots, are great for them. I have to water more often, because they dry out quicker, but I don’t mind, I enjoy plant chores.
    Just got a beautiful Krohniana silver today, which is why I’m here.

      I totally agree with you, it’s very unlikely to recover and probably better to compost but always interesting to me to try everything cause you might learn something 😅 This is honestly the most difficult hoya I’ve cared for, and the rest in my collection seem to do well, so I think it just wasn’t meant to be! Best of luck with your new plant ✨

      @@amyadwan oh rats, I was worried that this might be one of the fussy ones. I had a curtisii years ago, (Krohniana is a curtisii hybrid) it didn’t make it, but came from a big box store and was overwatered when I bought it. This plant is smaller, I have a really awesome plant boutique in my town, everything fresh from grower and so healthy. Hoping this one does good.

    Loved this style of video, with the update over time! And your Hoya is definitely a lacunosa, and lacunosa is known for flowering all the time! Such a great Hoya. I have the same plant and mine rotted as well, I chopped it up and it’s currently growing roots in water😅

      Ah thank you so much 🥰 Ohh really - my mistake! Thanks for the correction - do you mind me asking why that is? Seems to be a lot of confusion over the two so it would be great to set the record straight 😂 one strand has more heart shaped leaves along the vine and others don’t so I’m not sure. I hope you get the plant back to its former glory! 🤞🏼🌸

    Had same problem with my Wayetii. Wish I had viewed your video before I unpoted it. Washed all roots off and cut off dead ones. Seemed as if only one of the 5 plants in the pot was very rotted. Put all of the plants in pearlite in same pot and put it in a large prop box. Wish me luck

      It happens to us all! I wouldn’t stress too much about it if you can. Lots of different methods can work so I hope this works out for you and the plant survives! 🤞🏼✨🌸 Sending anti-rot vibes 😂

      @michelejones4282 What would the peroxide do? Never used it on plants.

    • @geslinam9703
      @geslinam9703 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Usually with Hoyas, I only water when dry. Not meaning let it sit dry for a week - I check often, every couple of days. When I feel no moisture at all 2-3 deep down in the soil, and when the pot feels light weight, that is when I water. You can certainly do the leaf test, but with Hoyas, when the leaves start feeling softer, it’s REALLY dry. Now you have very dry desiccated roots that are damaged - you throw some water on there, and they rot. Just like if you keep the plant way too wet. So, at least with Hoyas, I don’t think the leaf test is good to do. You might get away with it a few times, but it stresses the plant and that is never good.
