and may I take this opportunity of emphasizing that there is no cannibalism in the British Navy. Absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount"
"This expedition is primary to investigate reports of cannibalism and necrophilia in... This expedition is primary to investigate reports of unusual marine life in the as yet uncharted Lake Pahoe." (22A Runcorn Ave)
"For starters, why do the senior personel all bare the names of Hollywood film stars of the 40's and female ones at that. Shiver me timbers, 'tis the black spot!"
Two of my fellow MP-loving friends worked at a department store. One day, they found a red mannequin's leg. They waited for their supervisor to walk by, then one of them pretended to gnaw on the leg while the other said, "There is no cannibalism at Sanger-Harris... McGee! Put that leg down!" Their supervisor just rolled his eyes and walked on. He was used to that kind of thing. We all spent the 80's endlessly reenacting Monty Python sketches.
100 Rads on the 100 Point Radical Rating System! Perfect! -This is wonderful! This is one of my favorite Monty Pythons. It's SO SILLY! -This video is something other than else! -What's really great is all the Pythons get into it. GIlliam does the Can Ya Dig It cartoon. Cleese turning into a pirate, Palin and Idle as Hippie Dudes, Jones as the straight interviewer, and Chapman as the modern improved Nay-Vee Captain. -Also, behind them, they're packing the goofiest stuff into the van.
This has to be the funniest most ridiculous sketch I ever saw Python do. The parrot suddenly appearing on John's shoulder looking over at him had me in stitches and it just gets stupider and stupider with the Naval hippies, cannibalism/necrophilia cover up and residents living in a lake all executed within the space of just 7 minutes. Only the man hearing songs in his head who gets cut open by the doctor to reveal hippies squatting in his stomach rivals this for farcical hilarity.
OMGosh rotfl. *I love the hippie navymen. graham chapman is so genius. and eric idles smile when he says"Are we on the telly* is so beautiful lol. i love it when graham goes. "Jenkins, noo,*hand in front of camera* lmFo smile.God loves you
Of cannibalism, in the Royal Navy. But necrophilia is right out, whoever does that in the headquarters of the Navy will get reprimanded in the harshest military voice imaginable!
Graham Chapman was such a handsome intelligent sweet man one of my faves on here my heart goes out to him miss and love you always Graham May you RIP 💗🙏🙏😘
Watch closely at 1:53. Heh. We can dig it, man. I'm thoroughly guilty of using the phrase "It really is something other than else" in casual conversation.
Stupid and funny....and still is... I was at school when these came out... Each week we would await new laughs. Love the ending...up yours...so British.😊😊😊😊
"...and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount."
Graham had the greatest comedic delivery ever.
“I dig it, man.”
I've said that line to people in ordinary conversation, and they look at me funny if they catch the joke.
"they are to tell me immediately, so I can immediately take every measure to hush the whole thing up." Yeah, he works for the government.
And the Royal Nayvee abolished the rum ration for THIS?
After being alive for 50 years I have come to the conclusion that the Monty Python team might be slightly mad.
gee ya think
The Pythons are proof that one can be crazy and brilliant at the same time.
I've came to the same conclusion after being dead for 49 years
Slightly mad...? 🧐
Nah, they're just silly.
This sketch really is something other than else.
Right on, man!
" . . . and may I take this opportunity of emphasizing that there is no cannibalism in the British Navy. Absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount"
"more than I'd like to admit" XD
@ least it's better than 'the crunchy frog''
And when I say a certain amount, I mean a lot.
The classic Giuliani defense.
I love the way the journalist slowly turns into Long John Silver. Shiver me timbers!!
Even better when the next one notices the parrot on his shoulder and freaks out.
It is amazing how each "Python" can inhabit his different characters. Such credible and believable talent.
I love the line "There's no doubt about it, this expedition does have some rather unusual aspects Jim Lad."
...it's bleeding damp!
"I was talking metaphorically, ya fool!"
"Of course it's not an ordinary street, it's got a lake in it! Look, how many streets do you know that have got lakes in them?!"
and may I take this opportunity of emphasizing that there is no cannibalism in the British Navy. Absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount"

Actually filmed in Churchfield Road, West Ealing, London W13. I'd guess (things have changed!) from Google Maps Street View, that it's number 25.
"Of course it's not an ordinary street! It's got a lake in it!" OMG :D
Definitely one of my favourite ever Python sketches.
its so stupid its brilliant
THE NAVY'S OUT OF SIGHT! COME TOGETHER WITH THE R.N.! IT'S REALLY SOMETHING OTHER THAN ELSE!
I lived in CA in the 80s where there is a lake Tahoe. I always called it lake Pahoe.
Lake Tahoe is in NEVADA
Part of Lake Tahoe is in California, and part of Lake Tahoe is in Nevada. You’re both right!
"For starters, why do the senior personel all bare the names of Hollywood film stars of the 40's and female ones at that. Shiver me timbers, 'tis the black spot!"
This was truly one of the great expeditions under the auspices of the British Empire. Often overlooked in the History books.
Up there with the expedition to scale both peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro.
"...and finally, necrophilia is right out!"
I love that animated navy advertisement. It's "right on".
Imagine naval battle essentially reduced to a Bataille des Fleurs....
"Can You Dig It, Man?" 🥴
Live the way the naval expedition is called off after a mere hand gesture!😂
Spain: "if only we'd known it was that easy to make the RN go away!"
@@JamaicanCastle England: "if only we'd known it was that easy to make every Spanish fleet for centuries go away! Oh wait, it was"
This episode of "The Terror" is a lot funnier than usual
The moment at 6:03 with the basement turned into a lake made me absolutely cry with laughter the first time I saw it.
Can you dig it, man?
Sir Jane Russell, Commodore Betty Grable and Lieutenant Commander Dorothy Lamour.
“Really something other than else”
I love how he keeps trying to pass John Cleese that joint.
"bloody sharks" that was so cute
I miss getting stoned off my arse and watching Monty Python on the telly.
Wanna get stoned? Just say "Jehova"
The funniest thing about this skit is John Cleese's slow transformation into a pirate. XD
Aka Long John Silver. XD
My reaction to your ten-year old comment was rather slow, his transformation is anything but.
Come over to the R.N.! It's really something other than else!
Much silliness is afoot

I joined the RN when they were having a love-in at my psychedelic space station chateau. They really are out of sight and something other than else.
SPOT ON, AS USUAL! LIKE THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS - WAAAAYYY AHEAD OF THEIR TIME!!!! THANK YOU, MAN, I NEEDED A GIGGLE😘!
“I dig it, man.”
one of my favorite lines in the series.
Perfect description of the military. This is not a comic video... it is a documentary.
Mind-blowing comedy.

This is the most amazing sketch everrr!!!
i am TOTALLY going to join the RN!!! :)
After being alive for 67 years I’ve come to realise they are only ones who are normal
There's no doubt about it: this expedition does have some rather unusual aspects, Jim lad.
Never twist your ankle.
Christmas Crustacean It was a bear trap, not him twisting his ankle.
Flipping the bird with class.
Wow I have never seen this sketch before!
it's like they all had ideas about the skit and decided to use all of them.
"The whole gig's been a real gas man!"
verry inconspicuously XD
Can ya dig it man?

Eric looks so cool here :)
I know this sounds jolly, but laughter is eternal 🎉& healthy.

Perfectly Mad.
...but they are from broken homes, circus families and so on...
Graham Chapman was such a handsome intelligent sweet man one of my faves on here my heart goes out to him miss and love you always Graham May you RIP 💗🙏🙏😘
So wonderfully surreal 😁
Yes, best way to stave off the Pirate virus.
What a splendid adventure.
One of their most bizarre-rambling "pointless" sketches
"Pieces of eight!" "Augh!"
Watch closely at 1:53. Heh. We can dig it, man.
I'm thoroughly guilty of using the phrase "It really is something other than else" in casual conversation.
This skit still a hoot, some MP hasn't aged well.
Groovy man, real far out! Very copacetic. I dig it.
.... can you dig it, man?
Also love how the joint appears again at 1:52
I thought I'd seen them all!
..just a yellow submarine is missing
2:47-the two dead ones, together.
ROYAL NAY-VEE! Can you dig it, man?
Can ya dig it man!!!!!!!!
05:56 - XD
I love that parrot!
Admiral Jenkins of the royal navy!
It really is something other than else!
"It really is something other than else!"
1:51 John Wayne would have been pissed off over that "recruitment ad". ☮️
Stupid and funny....and still is...
I was at school when these came out...
Each week we would await new laughs.
Love the ending...up yours...so British.😊😊😊😊
It's funny because most of those people were supposed to be high on something. THIS SKETCH OWNS!!
This skit can't decide what surreal nonsense it wants to be interrupted by first. xD
There is actually a Lake Paho just north of Kansas City, Missouri. It’s at 75 Maple Avenue
So thats where armstrong and miller got the airmen idea !
Sailors never met one who didn't want to eat me.
'the whole scene's wide open for a scientific exploration' . My favorite python sketch esp the Royal 'Nay Vee' cartoon i love it ........
Just imagine naval combat being reduced to a Battaille des Fleurs ...
This episode caused the BBC to start being more cautious in checking just the BLEEP the Pythons were doing.
"Yes, yes, John, the dailies look good, but we were wondering if you could explain this line item for scuba gear?"
This was very silly.
There’s a Mr Padget.
"... and when I say 'none', I mean there IS a certain amount..."
"Can you dig it, man?"
Sir Michael Palin....congratulations.
bloody sharks
1:00 eric idle sounds like lennon hahah
Pole shifts are completely harmless.
The parrot said "Swing to the right", Right ???
and now for something completely different..
"can you dig it, man?"
shiver me timbers!!! tis the black spot
