I just don’t understand why this masterpiece never makes any top 20 Python sketches. It doesn’t even make any underrated or ‘deep cuts’ list. It’s ridiculous. This has every element of what made Python so innovative and legendary. Yet for some reason this sketch seems forgotten or ignored by the masses.
Nessie beats them all. After 90 years it's still hiding! And the search is limited to one single lake!! Not too far away from that sweet shop in Kilmarnock by thew way. 🤣🤣🤣

One of my favourite sketches. I was going to comment on where the fortress was in the UK as I knew their budget wouldn't allow them actually flying to Sardinia. Jersey, even that was a bit expensive, but thank you for the information. Was the start in a studio or really in Trafalgar Square? 😂
I remember this at the time, watching the whole final with my family. The whole country thought Don had it in the bag until the last day! You just don't see good honest sports like this any more.

Not trying to ruin the humour or anything (I adore Python and this sketch) but I thought hide n' seek rules were you had to stop moving as soon as the seeker stopped counting and any attempt to move after that was cheating? Cheaters got a punch in the shoulder for that in my day!
I didn't play it like that, we called it manhunt but it was basically just it, but it started as hide and seek and to make someone else it you would say 1,2,3 manhunt caught, then you aren't it anymore and they are It was great fun

I absolutely lose it at 3:11 when he's looking in local shops and the magnitude of his "seek" challenge hits home.
Just think, if the can in the bin had been another popular fish snack he may have ended up in Sturgeon, Pennsylvania. Quite the red herring.
