How to remove Toyota headliner, sun visor, grab handle, interior light. Dent Baron, Raleigh, NC - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Excellent video. Nice to see someone just being normal and authentic without all the theatrics.
This was a very helpful video. I was able to remove and reinstall my headliner without any problems. Thank you for taking the time to record this video.
Hey, I’m glad it helped.
Thank you so much for your great step-by-step explanation! I went today to the collision center to check out the price for the headliner replacement. The guys said that will cost me 2K (!) dollars. He said they need to take the windows out to replace the headliner. I understand they have to get paid, however, as a single mom, I can`t take out of my budget 2 thousand even though my old car is in excellent shape. Probably, I have to learn to do it myself))).
This guy is a great teacher!
Simple, clean, to the point. Needed this info to pull my liner on account of an uninvited tenant. Now I just need an afternoon to do the work
Great tutorial. He explained and showed how to do each step.
Thanks for this awesome video. I watched many videos, before actually trying to do this in my Auris Hybrid. This this was the one that helped me most. Although my roof lining had all the roof wiring attached directly on it.... And nobody is showing that part.
About to work on my Auris now. Wish me luck
Very helpful. Thank you!
Very helpful vid. Many thanks
Truly amazing video. Straight to the point. Love it
Thanks
Helpful vid thank you!!
Very nice, thanks for the detailed info.
I'll have to access the liner in my wife's 2014 priusC to run the wire for the backup camera and while I am in there I'll rig up 2 dome lights for both sides of the back seat as well.
Awesome man. Thanks
Gracias amigo un gran saludo desde Barcelona (Esp.) Me has ayudado mucho 👏👏👏👏👏
Great to see you back, now I know why I don't do head liners, if I can't glue pull it I pass on it. My 62 year old body is selective on what I do anymore. Did you go to some type of an R&I school?? You are the best at this trade. Thanks for sharing.
I’m with you man, my body tells me not to bend too far backwards. Thank you sir. I went to UNIVERSAL TECHNICAL INSTITUTE where I learned fundamentals for the trade collision repair and refinishing
Thanks for sharing all the R&I info Dennis! Very helpful bro!
Absolutely. You are welcome and glad to help
Tricky..I can see why it would be hard the first time r&I. A comment was made, why not glue pull instead of pushing..Ive heard from other techs they r&I because it looks like you've done more work and can charge more what is your opinion Dennis ?Glue pull,or push and please explain your choice.
@@victoragresti1777 generally speaking, pushing is easier and faster for hail damage. Also, you can't always glue pull. If the dent is too sharp or has paint damage on it or if the area has ever been repainted it will rip the paint off. Glue pulling is an add on tool more so than a full replacement for pushing. It can be easier to glue pull rather than R&I sometimes though.
I would rather push hail damage than glue. Because I can be more productive and cleaner with my repairs. And like Kevin said,
I've been applying sound-deadening butyl sheeting in the doors and trunk, but have been too nervous about addressing the roof. This video makes the process seem a lot more approachable, thank you! Now just to figure out how to safely work around the sunroof.
Best of luck! You got it.
How did you remove the doors? Did you watch a video on it? I also wanted to remove the doors and headliner to add sound dampening sheets
I have a video for a Toyota RAV4 a door, interior trim panel. Most Toyotas are very similar on how you remove the parts.
can you point me to your sound deadening butyl?
Awesome video. thank you!
Thanks,. Now I'm one of your subscribers. 😊
You’re welcome sir!
Brilliant video, I just need to run my rear cam wiring and auto hood wiring from the front to the back, do you think I still need to remove the headliner completely?
EXCELLENT! I have mice and my car STINKS to high heaven. Pulled the seatbelt covers off both sides and sure enough mouse nest, both sides. Still stinks, thinking they were in the headliner, with your help and those tools I hope to have it out soon, thank you sir
Try chlorine bomb to remove the odor. I used it in my car with dead mice smell and it worked for me.
Here is a site safrax.com/shop/
@@DentBaron thank you so much for this recommendation. Totally gonna try this!
damn rodents. We picked up a pristine '98 M3 in Phoenix. Only thing wrong was desert rats nests everywhere. Once those were gone, it made a perfect weekend race car. Every nook and cranny.BLAH!
good work video
Uploading more videos like this adds information
Thank you. Will keep them coming
Thanks mate amazing job
Glad you liked it
Thanks for the details on how it goes back together.
You’re welcome. Glad to help
Fanastic video. Thank you!
You are welcome 😀
Hey good video thanks
Thank you, man!
Just doing it,fantastic
Hey its been awhile Dennis! Bobby Zee here...Been super busy here as well... Great video buddy... Blessings to you and your family.
Been super busy. Glad to be posting again and happy to hear you’re busy as well!
@@DentBaron Thank you hopefully my videos will come out in a few weeks .
Video editing is very time consuming
Agreed!
When i saw this video instand subscribe right away😘👍 thanks for the video😍
Welcome!!
Great video :) I want to pass some wires through the ceiling and this is much better…
Also it would be better to epoxy-glue a screw on the metal ceiling for future mounting options :)
What are the tools needed? Names? Amazon link?
Thank you for video it was very informative, but I still messed up the adhesive above the dome light. Do you have any recommendations for fixing it so that the dome light is flush again? Thanks in advance.
Try Lord Fusor www.lord.com/products-and-solutions/brands/fusor-repair-adhesives. Find an adhesive recommended by Toyota for the application. Use a hood prop to apply pressure to the bracket and the center console while the adhesive cures.
@@DentBaron Thank you very much, will reach out to them.
good job..
Thank you so much 😀
Like a boss
That ks! Cheers 🥂
Nobody ever talks strip and fit. 👌
It is something that is imperative to most dent removals.
Very helpful video. Would dropping the headliner like this be sufficient to have a professional remove some hail dings in the roof? Or does it have to be taken out? Thanks.
Just dropping the headliner is sufficient
O.K. thanks.@@DentBaron
I have a 2011 Prius with a Sunroof / solar panel. How do I remove the part of the headliner that goes around the sunroof?
It can be removed by gently pulling down. The headliner is attached to the sunroof via Velcro type material or tabs that snap into place.
What is the tool called you were using to get the handles and headliner lights out. Plzzz respond

I have the headliner almost out of my 2011 Prius,..Is there a connector for all the wiring that is glued to the headboard, Having a rough time figuring out how to remove the front windshield trim post.
Yes. You do not need to remove the windshield trim piece all the way. Just roll the headliner out of the way from the trim piece
@@DentBaron what about the wiring … is there a wiring connector in the trim area on drivers side?
Yes
I have a 2015 Toyota priuz .. and sometime when its quiet snd the car is parked, rngine tirned off .. i hear something rolling or crawing or crackling around through out the ceiling,, ,, i incluned to remove it all to investigate ,, but in wondering is it some normal wiring operating in thete ; or sctually some small insect live crawling ( but most insects dont make thst much noise like chewing crackling , rolling ,,,, anyone experience this ?
No experience there.
how exit it to car??!
I'm new to pdr and never actually seen someone do the liner without pulling out the pillars, at least at the top. Would y'all recommend doing that for most vehicles? I've been pulling the pillars this whole time lol
Yea, we do it on most vehicles bc insurance doesn’t pay to do the entire drop for hail claims. We have had 100% success rate with doing it. There is an occasion where we will drop the front pillar trim if needed.
Hell yea that worked lol!! Just did the RNI in a rav4 that way, saved me 30 mins not having to mess with the pillars and swear at the clips in them lol!! Thankyou good sir !!
How long does this take? And can you post a link to a similar tool kit for what you used to get into those small crevices?

Length of time depends on skill set and experience.
Nosal spray from rear windshield stopped working. Engine is working but its not spraying...even worse it throws out liquid at headliner 😤
So when i pull my hand under the headliner i can feel that nosals had splited..but it is hard to reach with 2 hands should i need to dissamble all headliner or (somehow) remove just three screws that you showed in video ? My aim is to partialy remove hedliner...is it possible?
Hello, you should be able to remove the 3 clips in the back and be able to bend the headliner down slightly enough to reach in there and reattach the hose
@@DentBaron i tried and i have removed those 3 and didnt work out, to tied space 😞 how to get more space..to remove back handles?
Is there a light in the rear as well? If so it needs to be removed,
The hose should be on the right side of the headliner
@@DentBaron light is at middle..
Excellent demo, if a person didn't want to tackle, what do you think a body shop would charge? A mouse has deposited dog food up above the headliner. Thanks.
Anywhere from $200-$320 maybe more depending on how they write the estimate. Wouldn’t be surprised if some charged $800-$900
Does this removal work for a 2015 Sienna?
It has similar features
Can you wash the headliner? If so, whats the best way?
They have chemicals you can clean headliners with you’d have to do some research on those. Try looking into a company called majestic solutions. I believe they have the detailing equipment for headliners. I use a product called workhorse. It’s an aerosol can
Thanks for the video. Have a 2016 Highlander that's leaking from the roof rails because the nuts came dislodged that hold the bolts. Have to take the headliner out to access them and get them back in place. Now I have a plan and a little confidence watching you.
i have a 2016 highlander too, there’s water leaking from around the 3rd row headliner light/vent. Isn’t the headliner glued? Where u able to put it back in?
@soma My headliner is not glued. There are clips that pull loose. There are some small electrical cords for lights taped to the headliner on the hidden side, so pull it down slowly so as not to rip out the wires. Just search CZcams for how people take it out and where the clips are.
@remcentre if you are replacing the headliner you will need to disconnect the wiring. The connectors are usually near the dash under the trim pillars. If you’re just dropping the headliner, then no need to worry about wires pulling out. There will be plenty of slack in the rear of the headliner. Lowering the seats will allow the headliner to drop lower
I'm a bit concerned when you kinked the passenger side liner lifting it up and over the A and B pillars. No consequence whatsoever?
Zero issues with it.
Bro I was scared when he pushed the grab handles the first time
🤷♂️
Isn’t the headliner also glued to keep it flush?
No it’s not glued to the roof panel. I believe that is common for older vehicles. I haven’t seen any headliners glued to the roof in the past 14 years
@@DentBaron I appreciate your fast response I have a 2016 Highlander with a mysterious leak from the 3rd row vent/light (headliner).
Sunroof drains could be clogged. Use air compressor to blow the drain tubes clear of debris. You can access the drain holes by opening the sunroof. There are four total one in each corner.
If not the case, drop the rear of the headliner only. Not the entire headliner
@@DentBaronthanks!!!
hi dennis how are

The hardest part wasn't shown. How to get it OUT of the car.
My apologies, we don’t remove them from the vehcile for hail damage. But you’re right. If it’s a sedan go through rear door or have to remove back glass or windshield. If it’s an suv go through the liftgate area. ***If that’s the “hardest” part, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone to attempt this.
I just did this to my corolla and slid it out the front passenger side door, you should be able to bend it just enough to pull it out
@Chronodronix yes sir
Great video.
But can you put in the title the year and model on the Toyota that you are working on.
I would but most Toyotas are the same when it comes to headliners.
