The VA has recognized the enormity of health risks involved with service in Southwest Asia and has identified a list of infectious diseases that are presumed to be service-connected for Gulf War veterans who served in those countries. They are as follows: brucellosis, Campylobacter jejuni, coxiella burnetti (Q fever), Malaria, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, nontyphoid salmonella, shigella, visceral leishmaniasis (black fever and dumdum fever), and West Nile virus.
It is important to note that these conditions do not limit service connection for other conditions. These are just the conditions that the VA presumes service connection for Gulf War veterans (meaning that the VA will not require a medical nexus between the condition and military service in order to award disability compensation). Veterans can pursue service connection for other conditions on a direct basis. This means that if you have a condition that you believe was caused by your military service, you can still obtain service connection for that condition, but you will need a medical nexus from a qualified medical professional. Veterans can also obtain service connection for undiagnosed illnesses and medically unexplained chronic multisymptom illness under the Gulf War presumption.

Hello I'm a Gulf War Veteran who came back with stomach issues, fatigue, headaches, joint pain and insomnia. My unit were stationed at one point across from them oil wells that Sadam blew up. We was breathing black smoke for weeks. I tried to get checked for these things but I registered with the Gulf War register. No one would try to make a claim for any of that.

Very interesting! I am an Iraq War Veteran, 2003. I receive disability percentages on rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and insomnia for the last 5 years. About a year ago I received a letter that stated they "upgraded" me to "Gulf War Syndrome". I didn't even request an upgrade but it came to me. This tells me that something bigger is occuring with the claims information being submitted and studied. Your videos are always informative! Good job 👍

I'm a military vet who has GWS but never deployed. I'm not the only one and there are statistics to prove this. I've been denied VA benefits. I can't even get anything for the raging tinnitus that's been a problem for over 30 years. I suffer with neurological problems, I've exhibited symptoms of so many different auto immune conditions yet testing shows NOTHING.
THe worst of everything began in 1990 with a "Typhoid shot". I had an extreme and severe reaction within 2minutes, spent over 4 hours in the base hospital, had to be driven home 50 miles and the nightmare did not stop there. My marriage fell aprt, I lost so much weight down to 92 lbs, severe headaches that make migraines look like nothing; fever, loss of appetite, heavy debilitating fatigue (makes CFS look like a cake walk), chest pains as if a metal band was being tightened every time I breathed out I lost the ability to take a breath. My cholesterol shot through the roof, I could not move, walk or sit up. Extreme vertigo, chronic fever
These extreme symptoms lasted about 5 months, but the nightmare continues. I have suffered numerous neurological anomalies, countless midnight trips to the ER. No amount of testing either of blood or diagnostics reveals anything.
Do you have any idea what it's like to have to get your young children out of bed at 3am and take them to the ER with you because there is no one to help you??? Can you even imagine how frightened they were and the damage done to them emotionally??
It wasn't until 2013 when I finally found out about Gulf War Syndrome and so many things came my way to confirm it. Not through any doctor mind you, oh no they were and ARE USELESS.
It took me a year to process the anger but it rears its ugly head every now and then like right now as I type this.
I've been cheated out of my retirment because after 17 years I had to quit. I was a MSGT in the AFRES but served 4 years active duty in the 80s. But the VA refused to look at anything that happened to me in the RESERVE and I was on duty at the time of the 1990 event.
I've been denied any VA benefits.
But the worst, worst, worst thing was I was robbed of a normal healthy life and my children have suffered emotionally.
This is not even the whole story.
I know I'm not the only one who did not deploy but either died or have been maimed for life.
I don't deny that vets who did deploy suffered from exposure to pathogens and chemicals over there. But there are countless others who did not who won't ever get benefits or even acknowledged for their suffering.
The 2013 eye opening information that came my way to confirm what was done to me, helped me to look back over my entire military career from Basic training onward and realized that EVERY SINGLE VACCINE, was followed by some illness or condition that I had never had before, ever. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
But the August 5th 1990 Typhoid shot event was the one that did me in. My life changed FOREVER after that. It affected my job performance, my ability to be a good mother to my sons and now here I am in my 60s, suffering yet ANOTHER new malady for which has been going on for 2 years now and NO HELP. NONE. Doctors are CLUELESS.
You got any answers for that?

Roger that. I was tucked away in the community of French Creek from 1985 - 1990, as part of 2d FSSG. The water was nasty. However, I do also notice almost all of the issues come from those that did not take proper care of themselves. I always had $ because my "hobby" involved a higher health set.

    Hello,
The real issue we need to investigate and solve is what is the real cause behind these mysterious illnesses which is among so many of our bravest and brightest people. As many returning US and coalition force veterans (UK, and others) are reporting the same types of illnesses among their nation's service members, which means this was widespread throughout the theater and not in isolated areas/cases.
So, let's take a look at two main culprits, "Burn Pits and Depleted Uranium". Although the burn pits were operational at various locations, throughout the theater, such as Balad AB Iraq, their ability to spread airborne contaminants would be limited to the local areas where they were operated, and even if the wind was factored in such as dust storms, the prevailing winds would dissipate the contaminates locally.
This is a known factor in chemical/biological warfare and is highly considered when strategizing the possible use of these weapons of mass destruction during war, and because of their limited use and effectiveness, these weapons are not really considered for fear of retaliation by opposing forces' nuclear weapons. So to say that chemicals and trash from the "Burn Pits" were responsible for theater-wide illnesses does not muster up to traditional wisdom.
This plus the fact's that the DOD has already admitted that some radiological materials were also burned up in the pits, gives us a glimpse of US responsibility, for radiological contaminates in theater, which leads to the second and more reasonable culprit which is spent "Depleted Uranium" munitions, keep in mind, that the burn pits in question, like Balad AB, were not operation until US/Coalition forces captured the base after the 2003 invasion.
And Depleted Uranium was used extensively throughout the theater in the first Gulf War back in 1991, which was 12 years prior to the 2003 invasion, where there were already numerous reports of Iraqi children born with multiple mysterious birth defects after the 1991 war. Then we used depleted uranium again in the second war of 2003, and considering uranium has an toxic lifespan of 4 billion years, I think it becomes quite obvious what is the real culprit causing so much illness and birth defects among both opposing forces.
And so, if we do not properly address the root causes of the illnesses, we will never be able to help those who have been injured, or made sick, as it is like putting on a band-aid on an injury when you require a tourniquet. And as reputable lawyers seeking justice for our veterans I challenge you to take up the cause and get us real help. Otherwise, this is all meaningless in the end.
    Respectfully,

Many Afghanistan vets traveled thru many of the countries listed as well as flew thru the airspace of these countries enroute to Afghanistan, therefore making them eligible for these presumptive conditions. A typical route into Afghanistan would take troops thru Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, gulf of Oman, etc. Troops would spend anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days in that country waiting on a flight that could ultimately get them into Afghanistan. The way VA law is written, all a troop would have to do is put boots on the ground or fly thru the airspace of any country listed to be eligible... FYI

As a veteran of the Ops Desert Shield/Storm - I can state the following: when my unit - Company D, 82nd Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany returned in April -May 1991, we had a mini-baby boom. From what I remember, there was roughly 100 births that followed which were difficult/had difficulties. (I.e. - Still births, birth defects). Bamberg at the time had roughly 67K - 78K citizens in it. There were 7,500 US Soldiers and family members in Bamberg. It's one thing to have 1 still birth every 175 births. But 100 at one location, shows that there was something definitely wrong. When I voiced my concerns to an Army MD, he looked at me, and said I didn't know what I was talking about.
Another Army unit from Warner Barracks - the 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division- had been in the Khamisiyah Ammo Storage Site Downwind hazard zone - when it was blown up by other US Army Engineer elements. Khamisiyah prior to its' destruction was found to have poison gas shells there. And US Army EOD said - don't even go near them. And those US Army Engineer units blew off the warnings and destroyed that site. Close to 100K US troops were in that downwind hazard area.

I went through my medical records from that time just before my initial VA interview and found that for the first 2 years there. I had all sorts of visits or medical help with gastric problems, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, etc. Yet when bringing this up with the VA they didn't even address it.

I believe there is a connection between inhalation of gulf oil fire smoke and a disease called cutaneous t-.cell lymphoma: a disease that damages the white cell enzyme responses. There are maybe twenty two or more enzymes involved here. The cross products might result in around 400 different symptoms. So, a study to establish if the normal base line response of these enzymes have been damaged may reveal the reason for so many different symptoms.

The VA and DOD have vastly different definition of "presumption," than the general public. They call them presumptive conditions, but still have to prove a service connection 🤔

These posts are old! I have some possible insight.
Some 20 years ago, I inhaled a bunch of wood chips while operating a circular saw. Lots of wood chips. The guys serving in desert territory might have inhaled sand instead.
The effects: inflammation throughout the resperatory system. Also phlem. The combination causes cognitive and emotional distress. Pressure on the brain, as the body tries to clear the obstruction.
Anti inflammatory meds (ibuprofen) and anti allergic meds (benadryl) treat the symptoms...but the particles work their way deeper into the body then.
As far as curing this goes... I'll tell you the truth, I changed my diet to mostly vodka. I thinned out, the vodka is antisceptic and handled the phlem a bit, and I coughed up the wood chips. Surgery for this sounds dicey, if possible at all. I wish I'd had gravity boots...hang upside down or something.

Good question, Nick. One thing we want to make clear with Gulf War-related claims is that there were a lot of toxic exposures that our troops were exposed to overseas. If you can provide enough evidence to support your MS diagnosis being related to your Gulf War service, then it could be worth considering for you.

What can I do about getting life insurance? I have applied for and been denied three times for life insurance. I am 100% p&c by the VA.

I am a Gulf War Veteran that served state side at Headquarters for the Gulf War but deployed to Bosnia. I have all these symptoms and was told I had mental health issues. How do we submit a claim for this? I am already a 100percent due to a military assault and PTSD but I feel I deserve backpay for all the years I suffered from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, and a host of other illnesses that they told me were all in my head.

Can you help? I have PTSD, IBS, Fiber, sleep apnea, my memory just keeps escaping more and more but I was blown up by a fellow marine before even going to Iraq so that really caused me to depend on nobody and trust nobody. I think I got a TBI during that explosion. Nobody ever tested if test is available. I tried Gulf War register and never received response after 2 tries.

@@HillAndPonton Here is a little bit of science in a nutshell. A common toxin[s] among the vets inflicted them. Why all the wide variety of diseases with one common toxin? It's because they cause mis-expressions in the genes, causing dozens of different types of autoimmune diseases. Ever hear of 'gene expression'? They can go off-skew and cause autoimmune diseases and many, many cancers. Just take your disease and put it into the web search with the word, 'epigenetics' behind it and take a look. You will see correlation. I don't even have a degree but a huge researcher of biology. Here is something that many PhD's do not know. It's pathetic.
