I’ve been dealing with the VA unsuccessfully for 13 years. Went through every test filled out every piece of paperwork times and then multiple times again. Was always denied my PTSD claim even though all the doctors and my CMP exam clearly state that I have PTSD from my time in the service. I meet all the Nexxus all the stressors. Here’s the problem. Prior to 1985 the Coast Guard has standard operating procedure destroyed small boat station records. That is correct. They did not archive them in any way shape or form after many years 10 years to be exact finally was able to after enough of my own investigation and pressure from my senator and congressman Homeland security who overseas the Coast Guard finally admitted that there are no records to be found and that there are no records prior to 1985. I was in from 74 to 78 my records along with thousands of other Coast Guard men records were physically destroyed. We have DD 214s, but the day-to-day ships logs of the station we’re all physically destroyed. Here is the problem the VA they know this they admit this acknowledge that there are no records to be found that there will never be any records to be found but continually deny my PTSD claim for benefits because they can’t find the records. have done everything and I mean everything the VA I have gotten Buddy letters. I have written out my own story of my time just as the VA says, and they claim that by doing this that becomes the permanent record. Apparently not. Like I said, I have reached out to everyone and I know somebody will say well if you tried this person or that thing yes dozens of times. I’ve sent emails to the president vice president the governor of my state congressman senators. I worked with every VA organization on the planet. I even talked with the secretary of the VA face-to-face at his Townhall meeting at the Cleveland VA hospital you submit questions they review them before hand and then you get to talk to him. so we had a heads up of what I was going to put before him and I did. He said that he was totally unaware of this practice. It was not right and that it should be addressed and taken care of so that I could get my benefits. He told me that he or his staff would look into it and get back to me with, the answers. I told him that I’d been turned down every process every step of the way and that I’m now waiting to go before the judge for a face-to-face I’ve been told by people in the VA and other veterans. I’ll be lucky if I get that hearing in four years. i’m 68 years old. The problem with the VA has not the people it’s the system. The system is purposely designed to be as complicated as can be. It is set up so that it is very easy for the veteran not to get benefits and very hard to get benefits, the state VA doesn’t talk to the Fed VA and vice versa to entirely different groups. Why is that? Nobody and I mean absolutely nobody in the VA that has control over this. Do I trust that they’re doing their job the proofs in the pudding. No one will take responsibility for what’s going on in my case and others and nobody has the authority apparently not even the secretary of the VA to look into this issue and to get it resolved. Again, all the doctors all the tests all the exams all 100% say that I have PTSD because of my time in the service I meet all the Nexus all the stressors. There is absolutely no reason that it is taken 13 years to get this figured out. I’m sick and tired of hearing the thanks for your service. If someone were truly thankful they do something and be patient were working on it. I think 13 years is long enough. Here’s the real problem after this long explanation that will get seen by at least one person, absolutely positively nothing will get done. Nothing will get addressed nothing!

If you are medically retired from the military (Permanent disability) and couldn't use the High III Retirement plan (pension), does this still apply?

  • @edmundgonzalez8731

My Mom pasted last year and we are slowly going through her boxes and boxes of old paper work. My wife just handed me a bunch of letters I had written her when I was in the Army. A number of them are from when I did basic training there back in 81. I did a quick Google search for Ft McClellan just to see what it looks like now and this is what I'm finding?! Half way through 2024 and I'm just now hearing about this. Wow.

That's nothing my father was 82nd airborne walked with a limp his whole life and never received one penny of compensation. He had bad paper. No one told him how to make things right even though he was physically and mentally hurt from a bad jump where his main chut didn't deploy and is reserved wrapped around his leg and he landed on his back and was told he will never walk again. So he went AWOL after he began to walk. My father the most honorable man I have ever met in my life. He would never buy new shoes and only got them for the thrift store so his kids would have nicer things. He suffered his whole lifetime and the VA crapped all over him. Dad died the beginning of this year. Firefighter/ EMT ( Cal-Fire Retired) and Army Cav Scout Zabala

What if you have no in-servicedocumentation but have been struggling with back for 30 years after you were separated from service. This is my case and I only recently found out I could have claimed this. I have medical documentation with mri and ct scans showing my issues and a buddy statement from my wife stating the facts of my back issues over the years.

I’m currently rated 90 %. I recently had a physical with my VA doctor and he said I should see a VSO to get TDIU as he said I qualify for it. He even wrote a statement in my medical records stating this. My ratings are 50, 50, 50, 30, 10, 10, 10 I called our local VSO and explained what I wanted to do per my doctor and he discouraged me and said the VA could lower my ratings. Wondering any thoughts please? Thank you Desert Storm Vet

At my Army induction in 1967, i gave the doctor a letter from my doctor stating I had flat feet and should not serve, The army doctor said I was ok. Training ruined my feet and when I filed a claim it was rejected because they had my letter which said I had flat feet prior to serving. I appaled and later received a 10% disability rating. My feet are worst, hurts a lot and I'm more mad about what the army did to me.. What can I do to increase this rating to 40-50%. jb

We can all agree the VA does what they want. There is no repercussions when the VA blatantly screws up. No one is held accountable during the process.
