MUCMI symptoms prior to MUCMI being a thing.... thats related to Gulf War. I went in at 17 y.o in 1985, yes parents had to sign. I had ALL sorts of health issues when I came home from BTX and it took 20 years to be diagnosed with SLE- its NOT an easy disease to diagnose. Conditions that were made worse by service exposure. I was told in 1990 that i could ONLY go to VA for my confirmed SC knee PT/OT, couldnt go for any other health care. FF to 2018, multiple cancers they ask why I didnt come sooner to have things connected. Gee, I dont know, cuz i was told there was nothing they could do for me. Trying to get anything connected now is a PITA. Positive toxic exposure and still getting push back. Now my son's out and filed intent to file, for his "stuff" and I'm concerned about what I could have passed to him through maternal-fetal blood barrier when I was pregnant with him.

Great information as always, thank you Hill & Ponton. Getting service connected for an undiagnosed illness when they want you to have a diagnosis is damn near impossible. I think we need better training in these issues.

In my experience u have to spell it out for the VA
For my IBS claim I wrote down
I’m claiming IBS under the gulf war presumptive. I served in the following countries ….
    Got service connection.

You should do a video on those VA claims for attempting suicide while in service. Family problems can cause this and lead to life long depression in service members.

It is an argument of convenience. It saves the VA a lot of money to deny us benefits. The employees pretend to be ignorant of the situation but they all know what is really going on.

When I was getting separated they told me to file and they said I had up to a year to file any conditions that come up. I told them I was having sharp lower back pain and they denied it and said there was no evidence for my claim, I get there was no evidence because this was my first time telling them, so what’s the point in saying you can file any conditions up to a year after being separated if it’s automatically denied

Great point, and what you're saying makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, the communication that you appear to have received was confusing. How long have you been out of the military?
What should have been better explained to you was that you have up to one year to submit claims for relevant medical stuff that you were previously diagnosed and/or treated for. In addition, you can submit for medical conditions that you are newly diagnosed and treated for up to one year after separating from military service. In short, you have up to a year to "create/build" relevant medical evidence that aligns with VA/VBA rules and procedures. If you are still within the one year time frame, go get diagnosed and teated at the VA, a civilian doctor, or sick call (if you're a drilling reservist), then "create/build" relevant medical evidence and submit the claims. I hope this helps, and good luck!
