It is mind boggling that this can actually be a live performance. No earpiece, no auto-tune, just raw talent. This band is so awesome, every member is so talented. Thank you for your reaction. About the mic stand...one time during a show, the mic stand came loose from the base. Being the professional that Freddie was, he just continued on and actually loved the freedom that he had to move around without the base. This became Freddie's signature and even when cordless mics became a thing. he still used them on the stand. He even said that he really missed not having the cord when that went away. The mic stand became a prop for Freddie, he would use it to play air guitar and even use it in what appeared to be sexual ways while he was performing. Freddie had a bizarre sense of humor sometimes, but he is said to be the best front man of all time. In real life, Freddie was very shy but onstage, he was a powerhouse. Queen is a British band that was formed in 1970 and performed and recorded until 1991 when Freddie passed away. Yes, they were huge and have a catalog of over 200 songs.

There are no bad Queen songs. Over 50 years of genius.
And Freddie had many, many styles of presenting their songs, nothing was set in stone except professionalism and great fun,
except for the very sad music just before he died.

A few fun facts about Queen:
    * Guitarist Sir Brian May has a Ph.D. in Astrophysics and built his electric guitar (Red Special) when he was 17 (with his dad).
    * Bassist John Deacon has a degree in electronics. He designed and built the amp that Brian sometimes uses to create unique sounds on Red Special. John was also involved in the band’s financial management.
    * Drummer Roger Taylor has a degree in biology (pre-med). His vocal range is better than most lead singers of other groups.
    * Lead singer Freddie Mercury has a degree in graphic design. It goes without saying that his vocal range was amazing and he was the best front man of any band.
    * All four have written #1 hits, and all are members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

One of the best video of theirs! The band is named Queen, the lead singer is Freddie Mercury. I would recommend watching Queen-Live Aid 1985! Each artist was limited to 20 minutes. That video was the biggest satellite hookup of the time. 1.9 Billion people watched this show live across the world! No act wanted to go on after Queen. Their set would be hard to beat! The Live Aid set is their best performance. They had a ton of hit records!!! I have a lot of their vinyl. Freddie died of AIDS at 45 y/o. The president wouldn't even speak that word until 1986 when people other than gay men were dying of the disease. Freddie had an awesome way of including the audience. Watch live aid and you will understand more about the band.

That's not the reason he used half the mic stand. Although he did have more freedom to move, it started in one of their earliest live shows int he early 70s when he tried to take the mic off the stand and the middle joint disconnected, leaving him with just the upper part. He decided on the spot that he liked it and it would be his trademark.

Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970 by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), later joined by John Deacon (bass). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock, and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock.
The singer Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in April 1987. He kept it secret from the public. Only his family and band mates knew. On November 23, 1991, he gave a press release to publicly announce he had AIDS. He was too weak to leave his bed so someone read it for him. He passed away the next day, November 24, 1991. Most imagine he knew the end was near because the press release came the day before he died.
In 1992, a concert in tribute to him was held at Wembley Stadium, in benefit of AIDS awareness. His career with Queen was dramatised in the 2018 biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
He is very dearly missed. He was the best front man to ever grace the stage and this earth.

  • @mmaloneym
    @mmaloneym Před měsícem +29

Queen is the name of the band. The lead singer and front man is Freddie Mercury. All four members have written number 1 songs. They got huge after Freddie wrote Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975 and stayed that way until Freddie died in 1991. Three of the four members had excellent voices and their ability harmonize was amazing. By the way, Michael Jackson was a huge fan of Queen and attended many of their concerts. Freddie and Michael did a couple songs together.
Queen is in a league of their own. This band actually sounds better live vs studio recordings. This was a time with NO Auto tune, no ear pieces etc. just pure raw talent. They were all self taught. Freddie never had a voice lesson or a voice coach and is still regarded as one of the best voices past and present.

Oh my dear young man! Never let anyone get you down on your journey into the great music of the past. To be fair, while some people are simply haters and negative, more often those who say "You know ____!" mean that you very likely HAVE heard the classic songs without realizing it. These timeless tunes have been in numerous movies, commercials, and so on. In fact, when it comes to Queen, if you watch sports of any kind, I can guarantee you have heard "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions".
Of all the hundreds of terrific artists from the past, Queen ranks in the top ten on ANY list. The talent in this group is top tier. Their song "Bohemian Rhapsody" is considered one of the greatest songs ever written. Tragically, the lead singer Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991, leaving an unfillable hole in the world of music. He is truly one of the greatest talents to ever grace a stage.
Carry on in your quest! Ignore the negative comments, enjoy the ride, and keep your heart and mind open. God bless.

Love your reaction to hearing Queen and Freddie ‘The Legend’ Mercury for the first time! He NEVER took voice lessons. On the piano, he couldn’t read music well, but early on in his lessons could hear a song once, then play it perfectly. (Told by members of the first band, The Hectics) they formed while in a British Christian boys boarding school in Panchgani, India.
You’ve just entered the Queen catalog. Listen to Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions and We Will Rock You, and you may realize that you’ve heard them before. Hopefully you’ll discover how great they really were. My all time favorite band👑💛

First, don't let anyone ruin your pleasure at learning about new bands. You can surely find things in their lives that seem so obvious to you that they would be clueless about. You never have to apologize for learning. We Queenies adore you for learning about Queen! The really good news is: You react to Queen, the viewers will come! We're a loyal bunch. Freddie is so missed.... he died in 1991 from complications of AIDS. But the band as a unit (Queen is the whole band, Freddie is lead singer) is amazing and you will learn! One more thing, almost every song Queen does will sound different. They covered all genres. Oh! And something you might know but didn't know! "Ice, Ice, Baby" by Vanilla Ice stole Queen's opening riff from "Under Pressure." They went to court and Vanilla Ice now credits Queen and David Bowie and they get royalties from his song. Anyway, others have shared fantastic info with you. Great reaction. I will be back!

These 4 guys became legends of the 70´s and 80´s and Freddie will always be one of the best singers, performers and icons in music. No one else ha this mix of a diva and same time interacting with the crowd like being just one of them as he did. I still feel grateful i´m old enough to know him before he passed away and i still got music of Queen in my car and turn on the volume when i hear them. 🙌

There are some great Queen documentaries you can watch on CZcams that will answer many of your questions. The microphone stand situation was a Freddie Mercury original. His use of it as you see it in this video was the way Freddie used it and wanted it. Also Freddie used all kinds of vocal affectations during his live performances which were always different. Never the same. He lived in the moment, as did the whole band, and never tried to make a live concert sound like the studio album. Queen wanted to give their audience an experience every time they performed. Energy is the key word with respect to Queen concerts! And they sound just as good and even better live on stage as they did on their albums. There are so many incredible Queen songs for you to experience. This is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. 😁

Experiencing old music for the first time . . . no explanation is needed! Some of us are experiencing current artists for the first time. I don't know who started the Reaction Video craze, but I am thankful they did. Before I started watching various reactions, I gravitated to the music of my young adult era (70's & 80's) Now, my taste in music has expanded. I have a much broader interest & appreciation of music now, HipHop included. You mentioned ELVIS. I first "saw" ELVIS perform via Satellite in 1973 when I was just 16 years old. It was the Aloha from Hawaii special. Something about him & that performance sealed the deal. Todate, he is still my favorite entertainer. Always his loyal fan; then, now & forever!

Freddie Mercury had an incredible voice! On stage he was just amazing (especially at the Live AID concert-QUEEN were of all other performer the best!!)! Even in his last years, when he was very sick and had problems with his voice and recorded the song "The Show Must Go On", he sang it with an tremendous power!

Props to you for taking the time and the interest to dig into the music. Keep on doing what you're doing! There is so much great music out there. You're gonna be so rewarded by what you hear and what you learn. 👍👍👍 It probably won't surprise you to hear that Freddie wrote this song as a tribute to Aretha Franklin. He was a huge fan of hers. (You can really hear the gospel influence in the so-called official video of this, which was done in the studio. And yes, in the late 70s and early 80s Queen was probably the biggest rock band in the world. Take a deep breath and dive into the Queen rabbit hole, you won't regret it.

Some of their hits you may know are Another One Bites The Dust, We Will Rock You...We Are The Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody. At their peak Queen ruled the planet and were untouchable. The mic stand is Freddies signature. His very first performance back in 1971 he couldn't get the mic off the stand and it broke off. He used it like that ever since. In over fifty years Queen has never officially split up. Drummer Roger Taylor and Lead guitarist Brian May are going strong well into their seventies touring as Queen with Adam Lambert. Brian was named last year by Guitar World as the greatest guitarist still living. Freddie has been ranked as the best male vocalist in musical history. ♥️👑🎸🎤🥁🎹
