  • In this video, we cover Norfolk Southern rail traffic on the Atlanta North District between Mableton, GA and Braswell, GA. This section of the district is particularly scenic in the region of Braswell Mountain. We watch grain train 51A go through Mableton and four different BNSF engines pulling intermodal 264 at the same place. Then, following the line northbound, we catch 282 with an NS SD70ACe leader and 371 struggling in Hiram, GA. In Dallas, the very long 223 goes south. This train exhibits a weird composition of multiple intermodal and mixed freight sections. Here we also see 51A again. In the mountains, we eventually find manifest 330 and BNSF Powder River Basin coal train 732 roaring up the hills. Enjoy!

      Occasionally one still gets to see the C&NW cars. I usually make sure I keep them in the videos when editing the footage. Thanks very much for your nice comment. I really appreciate it :)

    It's good you can find new locations for us. The new spots are all great. I really like the curve in Hiram and the elevated viewpoint in Braswell. The NS and BNSF locomotives are all huge, there are true heavy duty engines. Thanks a lot for this excellent video. Keep up the fantastic job, your uploads are always much appreciated. :)

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, it was the first time I was in this area, but I was out with friends who knew good spots. Most through trains have 4,400hp 6-axle power nowadays, but it was good to see some variation of power. Particularly interesting was the BNSF intermodal 264 with four generations of GE power on it. Great you like the video!

      Yes, I thought you meant this one. The ACe was a big smoker and apparently incapable of providing enough juice to help pull the train up the hill.
