The wait is finally over! The next instalment of our highly anticipated tyre test is here and we're putting six fan favourite track day tyres against each other in the ultimate showdown! Watch it here - czcams.com/video/klSmFfLSReg/video.html
I'm running the NS-2R myself. Love them! They don't cost an arm and a leg, great in the twisties/track or just spirited driving, and like said in the video: you can use them all year round on the road. And that's where I do most of my driving anyway
Absolutely cracking video - Great comparison 👏🏻 This is going to get some high numbers, definitely something alot of us have wanted to see! 👌🏻
That's great to hear! Thank you!
Been waiting for someone who knows what they're talking about to make a video like this for years... finally!
Please test r888r and ad08rs with federal 595 next alao cup 2 and cup 2 r
+1 i'd love to see that as a part 2!!
+1
Would really love to see R888r vs Cup 2 vs Cup 2R as well 👌
Yep love this suggestion
Federals are crap I can tell you that lol
That’s the best tyre test I’ve watched and it’s great you took the price into effect to and it been very helpful , great work just a shame u didn’t get time with the yokos as I havnt heard anything good about them so it would have been interesting to hear your views 👍
The AD08RS is why im here, its one of the go to decent road based track tyre, shame you couldn't test it. The AD08RS vs the NS2R is what im desperate to see.
Just a shame we can get the original AD08R's anymore, the new RS compound detracted from the appeal of the original tire, still a good tire though. For the price the old ad08 was the perfect fast road and track day tire.
He could have mentioned that at the beginning. Could have saved the time. I was dissapointed!
They feel quite similar on the road but ultimately the ad08rs has a bit more grip in the dry and works better in the wet as well. The ns2r are incredibly value for money
I looked at the Ad08 but id read that the new compound wasn't as good and that the ns2r was better in damp conditions. It was important to me to have some kind of ability in the rain as I don't want to keep destroying my ps4's!
@@Itsallfun3000 im using the AD08RS now, not quite as good as the AD08R was on the street, but worked just as good when hot on track. If anything the RS lasted better too, seemed to stay on for a while longer than the R. Not a bad trade off for a little less cold grip.
Cracking test! Very informative. Would be good to see them all tested in the wet just to see if any can be used for both conditions.
Awesome test! Thank you... I also fell in love with the AR-1 :)
Great video 👍 thanks for the detailed test.
This is a great and informative video for someone who's looking for new tyres and doesn't quite know what to get. And I'd just like to add that the NS2R has phenomenal wet grip, I've been running those tyres for a season now on a Nissan Micra and they work fine on a dry track, decent enough in damp conditions and perfect in wet weather, at least on a car as light as a Micra.
Great video, it's useful to know what sort of difference I'd expect when I move from my NS-2R to something grippier!
Very nice selection 👌 looking forward to the results
Great review and thanks for doing it, It reinforces the old adage that you get what you pay for. Looking forward to future tests, although as they need to be back to back so the conditions are identical they won't be 100% comparable to this one. The car would have gone faster in the afternoon than it did in the morning too as the driver will have been 'in the groove' and track temps went up, but heck you can go on for ever with 'What ifs'. Another interesting one would be sending the driver out and not telling him what the tyres are. Can you test the Accelera 651 in the future? Maybe against the NS2R.....
Great video , didnt expect NS2Rs to be so close to Zestinos. Ive used zestinos on m3 and they did same as Cup2s .
Thank you for a much needed review. Helps us track guys. I’m on AR1s
Thanks for making the video. Everyone has other tyres they want thrown in the test but I think you did a good job of covering the main trackday brands. 👍
Thanks Steve! Unfortunately, we were limited on time, however with such a great response from yourself and others we hope to do more tests like this next year!
I was really looking forward to finally finding out the difference between the NS2R & AD08RS
Please do another video!
Stay tuned on the channel! We hope to do more tests next year!
@@tegiwa I'm subscribing now ready for that
I run the ADO8R on my Evo and it's a great tyre
@@evo5349 AD08R and AD08RS is very probably a difference ...sadly. tryed both but in different cars / sizes
@@moegigo I still have the last of the older ADO8R which people say are better than the RS.
Surprised you didn’t plan to test the Yoko A052s. Amazing track tyre that works well into the wet, and road usable. Interesting test though, would be interested to see a sequel!
This was the fastest auto-x tire this season.
Yoko A052s very good
I run AO52 the grip is insane
How about Yoko A050s ?
@@jonjoni7939 I don’t think they are street legal
I would have loved to see the the RE71RS in this line up but here in Japan alot of the guys are running the AR1 and absolutely crushing it... Great Video all the same!
I agree used the ar-1 on my wrx at Suzuka and Wakayama circuits. for the money its simply the best performance,
Yes the Yokohamas are probably slightly better but not worth 2x times the price
Read the blog but I think a spec rundown of the FN2 track car would be popular. Great video
Such a valuable review
the video I’ve been waiting for
thanks for doing this. Much appreciated.
Awesome video guys, great to see most of the tyres out on the same day on the same car. Shame about the ad08rs's but we can't get everything can we 😅
Fantastic video! Really great comparison between the road legal and track only tyres. Sad to see that the AD08RS didn't make the cut. I'm really missing my old FN2 Type R, seeing and hearing that fantastic K20 engine screaming :-D I'm driving a family friendly Honda Jazz 1.5L now, but with AD08R, so I was hoping to see an actuel test of the RS replacement, but I will stay tuned for your next test!! :-D
the RS is said to be worse than the R.
Thank you for this test very interesting. And it was a very beautiful track. Kris
Stay tuned for the v2 tyre test releasing this month!
Great video guys 👌 AR1 is next on my list to try - currently on Cup2’s
@BMW1M you saved me so much time, bro! Thanks 👍.
Useful video :) For road I quite liked the NS2R's, but they did wear out a bit quicker than my AD08's. The AD08's seemed to have a relatively soft sidewall compared to the R1R's I ran before them. The AR1's I had on a 182 turbo, and they were very good.
The AD08's wore well as a road tyre, but I was always missing that instant response due to the soft sidewall. The old (now illegal) R888's were brilliant. Not tried the new version yet.
Would have loved to see the Federal 595 RS / RS-R / RS-Pro tires in the mix
Such a good video! Any chance you can do a slick tyres test
Be really interesting if you ran the same test on the exact same sets of tyres again next year to see which drop off through heat cycles and harden quickest. (as most people aren't using brand spankers every time).
Excellent point. Those of us that live in hotter climates see heat cycling faster than cording out.
Brilliant, ar1 on my clio sport lovely tyre choice
Awesome video!! I didn't see a graph displayed of which compound was selected for each tire? I assume then it was the medium compound for each tire?
Since filming the Yoko A052 has killed everything 😂
Great vid though 👍🏼👍🏼
You can read more about this test on our blog 👉 www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/?p=4965
Esto es oro puro saludos desde chile ❤🇨🇱🌟
Including Federal FZ201 Medium / Soft tire in this tire comparison would be great. Found it faster compared to AR1 in 225/45 17 dimension on my FN2 race car(similar spec to the one from the video). Great test, always the best content :)
which one do you think heats up faster
@@MrPeteRR299 ar1
I also really like the federal. If its a cool day its slow to warm up but great wear and performance once warm.
Great video guys 👌🏼 maybe I missed it but it would be interesting to know the specs of that Civic too. Thanks for uploading 🤙🏼
Thanks! You can find the spec of the civic on our blog which you can find the link in the description of this video
@@tegiwa thanks guys 👍🏼
Nice test!!!
Which are the lo load & speed codes of these? All the same? In road use it may limit the actual choices for each car
Many congratulations on tires works feels complete never thought I will be designing all this work. Work everyday yesterday today and tomorrow 🌎🤲🏻it had has been worldwide. Congratulations tegiwa for meeting me.
Subbed for this tyre review...
Hoping that ad08rs tyre can be tested and put for comparison
Stay tuned for future tyre tests!
@@tegiwa awesome...
As many other mentioned...throwing more trackday tyre in the mix will be an awesome review 😁
Such as Ad08rs, federal 595rsR, federal fz201, toyo r888r, hankook td and others 😁👏👏👏
Cheers 🍻
Since filming we've learnt that the Dunlop Direzza DZ03G are E marked but for competition use only.
Fantastic video and editing. Exactly what I was looking for. I’m a little sad that AD08RS wasn’t tracked in the end because I really wanted to get some unbiased info about their track performance 😖
@@Skubi1111 We wished we had the extra time to get a few runs on the AD08RS but it wasn't meant to be. However, keep an eye out on the channel for future tyre tests!
@@tegiwa will do 👍 Loved this video 👌
So they are e marked but still not road legal? Or legal but not advised?
would have loved it if you could have done a test with the A050s, Z221, RE71RS, AR-1, DZ03G, Cup 2s and Trefeo R that would have been realy good
changed my tires from zestino gredge to ar1s. for a daily/trackday car its a bit too loud for daily use. sold that and now trying potenza re004. so far so good, havent tried it yet on the track though.
How do you record yourself from onboard? The voice audio quality is really good!
We simply used an audio recorder and put the wireless mic on the collar of the race suit.
Great video by people who know what they re talking about. Surprised you didn’t try the Michelin SC2 though
Good video!
Great video thanks, I brought R888R for my first track day tyre and just did not rate them, for the money I'm going to try AR1 which are almost the same price.
I love the video but I've got a question that's remarkably difficult to find an answer to! How much faster are a new vs worn set of the same tyres?
Nice video. I only wish you had a tire temperature sensor so we could understand what's really going on there.
So proud of India for developing a tire thats being mentioned with the heavy hitters in the world .. now for us to perfect that tire and improve times.
Was really looking forward to seeing the AD08R review 😞
We hope to touch on the AD08RS on future testing videos, so stay tuned next year!
That thing revs for days
Please add Michelin PSC2 Federal 595RS-R/pro, Toyo R888R or Yoko a052 in next tests.
Will you guys be doing another video for the AD08RS’s? Yoko don’t do the AD08R for UK market anymore but I can’t seem to find any reviews of the RS’s anywhere so was really hoping to see how they performed in this vid😌
Stay tuned!! We have plans for more!
11:25 reminds me the great sound of need for speed underground 2 ... What a great sound effects from those days
Great comparison cheers :-)
Wish you guys also tested RS4’s in this comparison… they are very cheap and decent tires that compare very well to lots of these options.
Rs4 are fast, and.. they last longer than most other tires of same tw
What about the yokos? How are they compated to the zestinos and the ns2r?
Great video! Why did you get ted flagged? 😕 Exhaust noise?
What were the rough starting cold pressures on the ar1 and Dunlops
Came to see the performance of the Yokohamas AD08Rs, couldn't find them on the video. Nor the time.
What am I missing?
please test Bridgestone Potenza RE71RS and Advan Yokohama A050 for the next part.
bought NANKANG AR1 based on this review. I keep them at 30PSI when running on track Honda K24 EP3 car is getting faster as I get use to the grip levels, never seem to hit ABS
Great video to prove the differences.for the debate between AR1 and MRF you say AR1 is cheaper, but people say MRF lasts longer, in 15 min sessions you can’t really test this, but since this has been uploaded can you comment on longevity from your perspective please?
Big fan of the NS-2R. Run them on my Evo 6. Pretty much the perfect tyre for what I use the car for. Fast road, very occasional track day. Yes not the fastest but when out on the NC500 in the middle of Scotland, 4 degrees outside with hail coming down, they still grip. I run a slightly larger aftermarket wheel so tyre is 225/18. At (time of buying ) under £90 a tyre (unfitted) that price point wallops everything else here. Bargain. Much more direct and precise than the previous Pilot Sport 4 (a very good performance road tyre).
Great video. More please......
How have you found the noise. The ones on my car make it sound like it's got a wheel bearing out
@@andrewlangford88 HI. It's Fine. They aint a quiet tyre but then I guess no track tyre is. In all honesty, an Evo with a decat exhaust aint quiet, so tyre noise is not really an issue. What car you running these tyres on?
N15 Nissan Pulsar SSS with an SR20DET swap and a whole heap of other work.
Could actually have a wheel bearing out though lol
@@andrewlangford88 Sounds like a giggle. Respect to that build.
I ve just put a set NS 2R on my BM I find them so noisy on the road I’m thinking of taking them off. Did you find them noisy 🍻?
VTEC Baby!!! 💯
I'm sad theYoko wasn't tested. I know it's not as good as the AD08R but still interested in it.
Same for me ☹️
Forget about the tyres, love how the Honda engine sound lol .
What are the treadwear ratings for these tyre. For example ns2r has 180tw and 120tw which is a big difference
5:46 YO!!!!!! You still had the sticker on tyre!!!!!!
Why did you not test hankook rs4? Falken rt660? Bf rival s? Yokohama advan a052??
How hard is it to pull off the labels on the tires before sending the car out?
track day tyre test when it is the end of Oct. Just put my winter tires on.
No time set for the A052?
To give you some idea,i race an mgzr 170 in mgoc on toyo 888r tyres pole time 2.20.2 the mgcc same spec car as ours use Dunlop Direza and lap at 2.17.00 that shows just how good the Dunlops really are!
The dirrezza is fast, but a little to soft side walls to be top 3 tire… but that just Imo
Shame you didn't manage to use the AD08RS, I ended up getting NS2R to replace the old AD08R I had. From all reports everyone was saying the RS version was way worse. I could've went with A052s for my setup but I felt like it probably wouldn't be worth it for myself also I didn't really want to pay over a grand for a set of tyres.
Maybe once these NS-2Rs are done I'll step up to some AR-1s and then if I have to do a wet day I'll use my road wheels with PS4's on them.
Which compound of the MRF ZTR did you use ?
Are the tire pressures indicated hot or cold?
What TW of the Nankanng ns2-r? And MRF was hard, or soft?
What is the wide of the wheels you used for this test? :)
Aw man i have the ad08rs on my car and id love to be able to compare them to these top tires. Because I've read people hating on the rs because they are much worse than the old ad08r for sake of daily use.
will be there a new ep for this? :) new lineup (seems to be one of the most watched vid on the channel)
Hi, yes there most definatly will be another tyre test! We're still waiting on some tyres to be delivered for us to conduct the tests.
So what is now with the AD08 RS, didnt find a Test?
Did you guys do a report on the hot temps anywhere ? wondering what the ideal starting cold temps are on these
Hi, @ 1:49 you will see the manufacturer recommended hot tyre pressures.
Hope you don't mind my asking but what do you mean by ABS ? Anti Lock Brakes !!!
Can confirm Trofeo R findings, flugplatz this Sunday after 1 rather slow warming up lap with megane 3rs🙈
Great tyre when warm tho, but balloony on front And definitely fatter, maybe better lower profile...
Great comparison, shame you weren't able to test the AD08RS as that's the one I'd probably go for having had the AD08R in the past.
Impressive how there can be a 3 second difference between the tyres with them all being made with a similar purpose in mind - I thought it'd be a lot closer.
I heard a lot of AD08R users were very disappointed with the newer AD08RS tyres. From cost-cutting measures and also due to new euro legislations that require them to use harder compound, the way the cars lose grip on AD08RSs tend to be a lot more unpredictable and less progressive than the AD08R tyres
What were the cold pressures ?
no hankook rs4's ?
what about A052 ????
How are the ns2r from cold?
Does anybody know which wheels do they use??
Does anybody know which wheels do the use??
Great review, pity you did not include the Cup 2?
Despite what people may say, they aren't really a track tyre
@@s4ms0n1t3 They very much are and I use them a lot, what an odd reply
@@FuglyPaul well, in my opinion this line up are all more track focused than the the cup2. Whilst a great tyre its more a dry weather focused road tyre and argue it would go off quicker than most of these on track. Michelin released the cupR which is properly track focused for that reason
@@FuglyPaul also, tegiwa don't sell cup2s 😂
@@s4ms0n1t3 the Cup 2 is a 5.5mm semi slick road legal track tyre, and generally wins most of these tyre comparison reviews, I'm really not sure where you are getting your information from?
which of them comes in 185 55 r15 sizing?
What's about af08rs with background?
No surprises there, the majority of the fastest guys at the local hillclimbs here are on DZ03’s. Still great even now for an ‘old’ tyre.
Great work to see how they all compare. One video I (and I'm sure others) would be really interested in (although harder to test due to weather) would be wet tyre choices as plenty of track days, even in the "summer" can end up wet.
Sticking more to the road based/easy to get hold of tyres like the Rainsports and Pilot Sport 4 (rather than the S as it's not available on the sizes I use!) NS2R, AD08RS etc and not so much on competition wets.
It would be interesting. I have found a quality road based tyre to be better that a semi slick in the wet. Vastly more so if it is cold.
@@philipjamesparsons agreed. I'm thinking along the lines of back to backing stuff like the PS4 (not the S as it's not available in the sizes I run) and the new updated Rainsport 5 with the XL carcass that aren't as floppy and useless in changeable conditions as the old 3
Yokohama AD08RS... why wasn't it tested and didn't have any kind of evaluation?
