@@eeereee241 underrated as in it failed at the box office and very few people know about it. Underrated means more than just unjustly bad reviews.
The writing is legendary. The direction is flawless. The cinematic crisp, the neon feel, the futuristic setting. Everything comes together in blinded twists and turns. Freaking genius of a film.

It is pretty good, but, there is a strange contradiction after the protaganist kills the first suspect in his house - Stem then tells him that he is being traced, that blondie whatsisface won't let him do it again and that if he tries going to the bar after the second suspect he'll shut down Stem remotely leaving him paralysed. He also has to keep Stem secret and therefore can't use anything he records for evidence.
...And yet, he sets straight off again to go after the second suspect, without resolving any of those issues, hangs around in the bar then tries to squeeze a confession out of the second suspect, which is no use to anyone for afore mentioned reasons.
Don't get me wrong, it's a cool plot overall and well played but that bit didn't make sense to me, the guy is also completely freaked out by the first killing yet launches straight into a gang fight afterwards... Aye, that section didn't flow at all for me and gave me the impression they may have deleted a scene there.

And about him being paralyzed, it's not a contradiction or a plot hole, it's just foreshadowing. Only contradiction in this movie is him being able to control his own body at the end, it's plain impossible.

The machine merely did what the hero asked for - he said that his life is meaningless without his wife. STEM did what he could - another reality, where he could be with her again. It's not noble, considering she died because of the project itself, but it's a benign attitude, or simply an effective algorithm performer as good as it was possible.
The only movie that I dont see a single complain when I scroll down in comment section.
It needs more lens flares and jump cuts, I enjoy action sequences where I have no idea what is happening!

The ending It’s unpredictable, what a twist. Worth my time, I don’t regret to watched this movie at all.
I watched the movie and i have to say WOW, it wasn't like a normal movie it comes out all the time... it was something new and different. The Story is 20/10 the sounds and the effects 20/10 and the ending 30/10. I can hardly prefer! Very good job guys, we need more movies like this is.

One of the underrated and exciting movies, the ending is jaw dropping and thrillling every second of the movie.
It's so frustrating that nobody understands what they're trying to explain to them, incredible.

There wont be a sequel ,the director himself said that,he was discouraged a lot for making low budget movies so he tried to make something different from the superhero movies doing rounds at the box office and that's why his decision on not working on a sequel.

this movie is the biggest mindfuck of all time. I've seen so many movies but this one really is something else. criminally underrated and should've been way bigger. rare I put a movie instantly in my top 5 from the first watch but this one is easily up there

They definitely dont make many sci-fi movies these days, specially good ones. Last good sci-fi movie i saw before this one was Snowpiercer. People rave about Blade Runner 20249. But i thought it was garbage compared to the original. This movie is a million times better than Blade Runner 2049.

My husband and I couldn’t stop watching this late at night- we were on the edge of our seat & thought we knew what would happen; boy were we wrong! Thrilling, jaw dropping, exciting, witty, epic, just amazing! I’m going to recommend this movie to family/friends - wow! Neither one of us heard of this movie before. So glad I caught part of it on FX

I really do not know why this movie is not so popular and not being spoken about. Honestly, this movie is so UNDERRATED. you need to watch it for your self and I'm not going to spoil anything in this review. your time is not gonna be wasted if you watched this movie. I never thought I would enjoy a Sci-fi type movie (apart from Interstellar).

This is an amazing film: well placed, nicely structured, just the right amount of CGI and propelled forward by a great script and superb acting.
Brilliant movie. On one hand you have this man who becomes dependent on a machine to regain his independence. On the other hand, you have this AI depending on this man to gain its own independence. Job well done 👍🏿
Best movie I've seen this year. This movie had everything, amazing action sequences, funny, good plot, fantastic performance by logan aka poor man's tom hardy, and a very well done ending without losing any of its originality. Walked into the theater not expecting much and came out very impressed. This movie certainly deserves more hype and viewership.

So here's what I don't understand. If STEM was in control and orchestrating everything the whole time, why did it allow itself to be implanted with the blocks in it's code preventing itself from taking control when ever it wanted. Why didn't it have the code changed prior to implanting itself in Grey since Eron was just a puppet? It could have just pretended to be obeying Grey.
STEM could have been killed numerous times before his code was changed. There was no guarantee he and Grey would have gotten to the hacker in time and rebooted in time to get away without being killed. Seems like a risk an AI wouldn't want to take.
Then in one of the last fight scenes STEM could have been killed by Fisk as he said he was out of tactical options and had to rely on Grey to bail him out.
Why did he allow Eron to have the ability to even shut him down? Eron came close to doing that. If Eron had succeeded, I'm assuming STEM has a copy of himself somewhere and would have retaliated against Eron. If STEM isn't also somewhere in the cloud living as a back up copy, then as soon as STEM was implanted in Grey he could have just shot Grey in the head and incinerated the body and that would be the end of STEM. Eron would have his company back and be free.
Major plot hole that nobody seems to be noticing.

He was created like this, and Eron didn't trust him to change that.

Eron was a puppet, but he had free will. I doubt STEM could do anything else besides talking. Also he was deceived by STEM, he didn't know STEM's plans. I think that ERON thought that STEM is like a child, just smarter, even in a movie he said to not confuse STEM with his detective game.
Movie was wery thougth out, I found only one dumb part in it, when Grey could move his limbs while fighting back control for his body. I think it is dumb because his spine is severed and any ideas of him moving his limbs must go through STEM.
Well maybe it was STEM pretending.

An example that you don't need billions to make an awesome movie that can end up boring. This movie had a budget of only $3 million but you could never tell because everything was perfect, the story is new and fresh unpredictable, the acting is perfect, the twist are perfect and the ending was unpredictable and it was perfect. Jesus the list goes on and on. Who ever wrote this movie is a genius. I'm giving it 50/10. Not alot of people know about this movie but bruh trust me it's the best. Can't wait for part 2 if there is any 😊

I’ve been trying to figure out the name of this movie for sooo long now 🤦🏻♀️ I was asking EVERYBODY if they knew only by me describing bits and pieces of what I remembered and FINALLY someone knew what it was called!! It was bittersweet bc he typed in what I remembered on google and it popped right up 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I was SO HAPPY yet SO MAD that I didn’t think of that 😩 either way I’m glad I can watch this INCREDIBLE movie over and over again that is SO UNDERRATED!!!
This is a seriously underrated film, and besides being smart, it’s outright sad too. Leigh Whannel really needs to make more movies like this.

To be honest, 10 minutes into this movie I thought it was going to be some lame low budget sci-fi movie... So glad I persisted with it because it certainly kicks up a gear and I thought it was really entertaining and the "non-Hollywood" ending was an unexpected surprise.
