Watch Now on Digital: • Searching - Trailer
After David Kim (John Cho)’s 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a local investigation is opened and a detective is assigned to the case. But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter’s laptop. In a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology devices we use every day to communicate, David must trace his daughter’s digital footprints before she disappears forever.

The most underrated movie of 2018. It's actually my favorite movie of last year. I'm sad that this didn't get a single Oscar nomination. This movie deserves to win an Oscar for Best Film Editing instead of Bohemian Rhapsody.

This movie made me cry, especially towards the end. (*Possible SPOILERS AHEAD*) How is it that such a terrific kid didn't have one single highschool friend? Not one. Seeing her eating alone in the school cafeteria made my heart break. In highschool, everyone should have at least one great friend they can lean on.
@Giada Godina
Hey Giada, I'm truly sorry to hear that. The good news is that high school doesn't last forever. I know people who've gone on to make great friends after high school and throughout life. This may sound meaningless, but just hang in there. God bless you.

Race isn’t what you should focus on
Jackie chan is the main part in like 100 movies
A Hollywood movie starring an Asian male with no Kung Fu or karate, no asian accents, no asian jokes. Just pure entertainment. And a film that will scare the beejesus out of you.
Now THIS is a step forward.
He wasn't the lead.
In rural Switzerland, people eat cats. I wouldn't say Europeans eat cats or Europeans eat snails. There are many Asian races and many countries. Even among the Chinese, it depends on the country. The Chinese in Singapore don't eat dogs. Only 3 countries have dog as mainstream food, China, Korea, and Vietnam. In every other countries that you've heard of dogs being eaten, it's not mainstream, just rural where strange things happen. Thailand has illegal dog sellers to countries like Vietnam but Thais don't eat dogs.
I dare you to go to Singapore, Myanmar, Japan, and Malaysia and find dog food, and I'm sure there are many other Asian countries where you wouldn't find dog food.
So true! Only Asian stereotype is her playing the piano lol

This made my eyes water. The fact that parents are so unaware of their children’s true selves. We are taught to hide who we are because it is fact that adults can not tolerate anything foreign to their own beliefs and sense of self. Insanely clever when you think about how they managed to make a fully coherent movie purely through webcams, security cams, news footage and social media sites. The editing was nuts and must've taken forever. Very well done and fresh take on the now old hat, "sms messages on screen" technique, they just went all in.
Great performance from John Cho and the actors that played his bro and daughter. Debra's was a little lacking but was sufficient and believable.
The limited budget did show in some parts and put the film in indie movie territory but that's not altogether a bad thing as the premise of the movie didn't require big budget action sequences or expensive cgi.
Can recommend if you're looking for a well done, indie thriller with a techy and modern twist.

Not really...these kinds of movies aren’t produced as often as other super hero movies. The last movie to come out similar to this one WAS “unfriended”. Not surprised people are comparing the movie...
David Stoneback Silver surfer was tons better than Fan4stic.
The reason people hated the original fantastic Four movies was because after Spider-Man 1-3 people didn’t want cheesy superhero movies they wanted dark and edgy and PG13 like Nolan’s trilogy
weird, cuz i was gonna say this is exactly like fantastic four...
The director of this movie actually went to my high school! And we had the honor to hear him speak at my class’s graduation. His story is truly inspiring, and it’s one I wish everyone could hear.

This is a good movie. It was sent to me a sentence “ Don’t ever hang out around with the people we’ve been knowing”. Even though, they're our best friends, they willing ready to help us. But sometimes, the situation is happening, it might be we don't know. Why would this happen or how could this be possible? Of course, that goes without saying. I think the best thing to do is no need to make a lot of friends. Something is going on in our life very opposite, we impossible to guess it an easy way. Also, I never got any friends to hang out go somewhere. I'm all alone, I know truly very sad. But it's the safest for me.
One of the greatest film i've ever watched. I honestly didn't expect searching to be this good since the director has only made his debut with this movie.
The best part of this film is that everything in the scene foreshadows the story. If you are that person that really pay attentions to details in movie & love foreshadowing, honestly this movie is your kind of tea.
The only flaws that this film has is that the father-daughter issue that was the major theme of the first act is resolved in a kind of easy way, kinda dismissing it in a lazy way honestly. But, aside from that, the storytelling, the movie details (can't stress this enough), and the plot is very f***ing good !! 9/10.
This movie was awesome. I cried like three times because although it takes place online & every single scene is on a screen (literally), it tugs at your emotions. The creators are extremely talented people
Thank you!
Rinah Rojo why you spoiled the most interesting part??
It's based on a book
I cried only at the end too, it was so unexpectable and I was so happy and surprised and o.o no!!?yes?Yesssss!!!
This movie looks like a wake up call to parents .. we think we know our kids because they are at home on the computer.. I’ve been a fan for Cho forever
the sad part is, 80% 'not just kids' are at home on the computer
I love that they used the 'movie through computer and phone cameras' trope for a completely different genre. I was genuinely surprised and pleased as to how well it worked out for this film. Well done!
And they used the names of the actual websites and search engines too
@@dinkyg1830 thats rare
Wow, this movie was amazing! I really liked the format. I felt more moved by this film than movies with a big dramatic production. This movie was like the perfect blend of a high-concept, thriller, atmosphere, and realism.
Plot Twist: He is the daughter
PsychoPapi *NANI?!*

The movie turns 5 today!
I remember seeing it at my old local mall
Aneesh Chaganty directs a found footage movie is truly gripping and suspenseful when it comes to the digital landscape
This is a found footage thriller that is really grounded in our digital age, it couldn't feel more timely
There's so many things that can be easily hidden or easily faked on the Internet never knowing what true intentions our loved ones have
John Cho and Debra Messing are excellent although the film could’ve gone further with a few things
Yes you're looking at a computer screen the whole time but it offers a look into the lives we live online as opposed to our real ones
The twist I definitely didn't see coming and I was rather surprised plus the emotional roller coaster succeeds because of David's desperation to put a puzzle together to find his daughter
Still a really good movie in this genre that can still be thrilling thanks to the writing without it being a gimmick
The world of social media can be cool but also terrifying in many respects
Another one of 2018's most impressive
Best movie I have ever seen. Hands down. Can usually guess movie endings but this one was insane and keeps you on your toes. Wasn’t expecting much and almost didn’t go, but I can’t stop talking about it now
Just saw it
Agree 100%

Fantastic movie! I'm so hooked from the moment father found out that his daughter is missing... One of the best movies I've watched so far... Highly recommended!
I'm from Indonesia. Just watched the movie last night. It was surprisingly really good, & not to mention really unique & fresh, original idea. the plot twists, suspense, thriller, acting, everything will keep you on the edge of seat from the beginning until the end! I can't recommend this movie enough (and mind you, I was skeptical at first, but this is one of those rare movies that surprisingly blow away all my initial skepticism)! I'm actually thinking of watching it again for the second time!
Whats the ending look like?
Bintang Anthasena It’s just a big plot twist. Like I was so confused and then everything made sense. Great movie

This is so racist
sri krishna chaitanya Nakka How?
this is one of my top 10 2018, everything the dad did with his knowledge without some bullshit plot device is great, it was a normal dude using his instincts to find the truth.
I remember when I watched this movie for the first time on limited release thinking "this would be so incredible and immersive watching it from my laptop" I'm SO happy that now I finally can!
Congrats
If you reading this.. and if you are not not satisfied with the format of the movie trailer..Then I must say, you are wrong. This movie is mesmerizing. It's one of the exquisite films I have seen in recent times. The story and filmmaking is brilliant. It shall be remembered for a long term. Don't watch the complete trailer. Instead, watch it in the theater.
R u the director? Who leaves a comment like urs lmao
Very unpredictable movie which made it good

LUCKILY, I FOUND THIS GEM TODAY! 😭
Missing follows in the footsteps of Searching by taking place on technological devices and giving me good messages, like how scary the internet can be and how much I appreciate my Mom. Both films were really good!
