Paired my 3000g in my office with an RX480 (Sapphire Nitro) I had lying around and it does well in the occasional CS:GO or DOTA2 game I play between 2 long work sessions. Getting about 170+ FPS. Everything running at stock speed on an A320 mobo. Just for the record before anybody says that I play at work, I am running my own business.

Why does this happen over and over again? People showcase the 200GE/3000G and show how competent it is regardless of price then conclude that it's really just for web browsing and text editors. That's what core 2 duos and Pentium 4s are for. Edit: also okay I'm not bellyaching anymore I'm pointing out actual misinformation. The 3000G is Zen, not Zen+. I don't know why that's such a common piece of misinformation but the 200GE, 220GE, 240GE, and 3000G are all the same chip on Zen 1 architecture.

It does pubg on the apu alone @ 30-40 , wich basicallly is pretty good as pubg is hell on even a 650. What you get is a complete new pc for 300 including case,psu,16 gig and a decent ssd and a 450 motherboard. You can easily find a used 1600 build for that , but thats not new and sometimes that matter. Since it is am4 you can change cpu later ..but you dont need to unless you game a lot and this is not possible on intel easily. Pubg may not seem graphic demanding but it is so bad done not one of ten people i know playing it has same issues, random fps drops is common no matter build.
No too bad.. and with a good platform (no low end motherboard) can upgrade from the 3000g to any ryzen/2/3 series in the future. The good part is that can play some games at 60+ fps, in a dual core.. not AAA but... there are many many games to play and disport with less requirements.
*So watching this in 2023 and guys listen this chip OC with a GTX 1070/GTX 1660 Super or GTX 1080Ti would be a VERY good way to move from an aging intel 2nd gen to 6th gen pc or AMD FX and first gen Ryzen, as this would give you decent performance at 900P while opening the avenue to the newer larger CPUs and if you upgrade from lets say the Athlon to a Ryzen 7 later on then wow you did well as the gpu might still hold out*
Here in 2021 where there are no available cpus so I have to go with this CPU because it is the only one left and is not inflated in price. I have an rx 590 sooo....

Yeah, but with no integrated graphics. The reason that the 3000g is popular for really low budget rigs, is because it is an affordable apu with a playable performance in some games.
The ryzen 1200 is a better choice for cost effectiveness if you’re to pair it with a gpu but u’ll have an easier way finding your dad who went missing after “buying some milk” than finding a ryzen 1200 at this point

@Deez Nutz an X58 platform will most likely play it without many issues (especially if overclocked correctly), unless of course there are some instructions missing from those CPUs that the game needs (haven't had the chance to test it out for myself yet). Most people apparently forget that there are resolutions below 1080p and that there are detail settings below Ultra or Very High.

What do you mean upgrade? If you want to use like rtx or the newer Rx amd series you have to upgrade your cpu first if not it'll be bottlenecked but if you don't want to buy those high end gpu just upgrade the gt 1030 with gtx 1080ti or gtx 1650 or amd equal
To get a ryzen anything for $45 you'd be getting a used ryzen 3 1200. Not that that's a bad deal, but many people will opt for the Athlon due to the onboard graphics.
But if you're tight in budget... I would pick something with integrated graphics. But that r3 1200 is not bad until today. Probably would buy r3 1200 with rx 560 for budget esports build.
