Legends say that the Armored Core Fanbase is still searching for something to fill the hole that was left in their hearts...
Yes I am and always will be
As voiced by Paul St. Peter...
One might say they're searching For Answers.
That's no legend. It's the truth.
@@Mobius_118 Better that than waking up on Verdant Day.
I'm suddenly insanely nostalgic for Armored Core.
I have been trying to find something to fill the void of armored core, i learned that Dark souls is why it died. Mass builder is pretty fun.
@@Hippo_Hegemony try checking deamon x machina
I recommend Garrison: Archangel on steam.
Like others have said Ive been trying to fill that void for years. Nothing really compares.
@@Hippo_Hegemony that switch game that got on pc is similar to the later games then there is project nimbus which is ace combat with mechs. Also there is another one called project six which is like armored core.
Front Mission! pure childhood memories
Hell yeah man, this really do give that front mission feel. Especially when they have to fire missile 1 by 1 even though in cinematic they show em spraying like their pumped from fire hydrant. At least this one looks likes it's possible to fire multiple.
This look a lot closer to what FM5 was going for yeah? Looks a lot cleaner in this one with the UI.
I never played it but I always wanted to
Front Mission with a side of Valkyria Chronicles? Cool.
i got same vibe from it
I was just thinking of the same thing: Valkyria Chronicles. It is either the inspiration for the gameplay mechanics or just a coincidence...
got the same Vibe and I love both, gettin it.
The big flaw with Valkyria Chronicles tho: super powered 'meido' carries army to victory while comrades sit in base playing with their dongs
Totally
> I played through the tutorial
Oh my god, the day has actually come. Rejoice, fellas
Although ... He states stuff like that in connection with "I think I've a fairly firm grasp of the game mechanics" relativly often ;P
@@DaroriDerEinzige Splat does a rather good job of giving games a chance and getting their mechanics before playing
@@duckdictator6531 Yeah, no doubt but it sometimes funny how it plays out though.
God I miss proper front mission, and armored core.
AC for answer was the last one I beat couldn't get into 5
@@Jarl_indie Verdict Day was my favorite. Firstly, nice that you could play the complete game co-op. Secondly, UNACS. Lastly, the multiplayer was lit. My best memory was defeating a team of 4 players solo because they didn't expect me to drag my AC underwater and put myself near death to evade their snipers. Usually play fast with dual machine guns. Once I got into range, they were on my playing field. It also helps that Verdict Day has elements of stealth meaning you can hunt down other players and turn AC into a horror game for them.
For Answer definitely did build up some skills for Verdict Day. But I think my favorite AC game not including Verdict Day would either have to be Nexus or Last Raven followed closely behind by For Answer.
M.A.S.S. Builder is getting pretty close to the amount of content needed for me to really recommend it. The foundations of the game were great almost from the moment they went into early access, the mech building, weapons, etc, but the actual content has been kind of a slow trickle.
Yeah, thank god for Thailand's game studio. About time right?
"I tried to dodge." Moves to trigger an attack. Stands stil so every attack can hit.
Yep between the room temp IQ and the Bro'ness I'd wager there are better people to let get their hands on your game.
@@machinech183 I was expecting the complete absence of RPG elements when I heard his voice
As a kid from FM2
-Malee is a tanker supposedly in front taking damage and drain AP of enemy, only retreat for repair.
-Quarter combat like MG/SG is either damage support to Malee unit or defend their back
-long range ML/Rifle suppose in back, they are the damage dealer or disabler by locking enemy leg
-support unit they just like MG/SG do repair and ammo restock or support some damage for frontliner.
Valkyria Chronicles, Front Mission, Armored Core. they wear their influences on their sleeve. Backed their indiegogo what seems like 5 years ago. Been fun watching it slowly come together. Glad you're taking a look at it.
I really want a full on mech sim. Like flight, driving and space sims. Where you have to control EVERYTHING. The start up sequence, system pressure, fuel ratios, battery meter, gyroscopic balance and all that jazz. I want it to have functional gauges that actual mean something and need you to pay attention that is compatible with simpit gear like gauges, indicators, toggles, switches, rockers, buttons, encoders, levers, screens and mdf's. Default controls being dual sticks / HOSOS setups with the option for pedals (personally I imaging driving pedals that control jumping, crouching and boost).
Front Mission 3.... I sank so many hours into that game. It was the best.
"Dongpiece" elicited the blowing of my drink out my nose. Thanks, Splat. (mopping up keyboard)
"Destroy all thin toys before shuttle arrived"....that's some SERIOUS Engrish there.
That aside, I would definitely drop some coin to play this one. Looks fun as hell.
You have mentioned Front Mission.
Memories come flooding in. Miss Front Mission 3,4, and 5
I'm glad that they're asking more personality to this game. I really like the mega mecha Valkyria Chronicles feel for the combat.
Front Mission 3 still holds up today imo
Front Mission SUCKS the entire game comes down to skate left & fire on the target if your cheep like me get a Pile bunker skate into the target wack'em skate away behind cover come around from the back again. I've played 3 Evolved & that one on XBOX 360 they all sucked for this looping boring gameplay.
@@Torkkar He is talking about Front Mission 3 the tactics mecha game on ps1
@@roslolian11 & the only Front Mission 3 I KNOW of is Pioting 1 mech & doing a bullet ballet & needing to do the mission under a certain time limit or you fail so yeah unfun game play & time limits = Fuck this boring ass game.
@@Torkkar Thats not front mission 3 thats front mission evolved or whatever. FM3 was made in 1999 obv the graphics technology back then isnt good enough to have you pilot a mech doing pirouttes wtf. You should check the title of games before you comment smh
@@Torkkar I'm sorry you played the shittiest front mission game, evolved is not 3.
Customizable mechs is all I need! Thanks for the video Splat!
Quality "dongpiece" content. That's what we love about Splatty. EL. Oh. El.
I really miss Front Mission. I haven't played one of those in years.
Front Mission is a series I miss desperately, I had a lot of trouble getting the english patch of the last one that was JP only released to work right. Visually this gives off FM vibes for me so far at the start of the video.
Alma also looks bit like FM3's Emma... Definite FM vibes from the mech designs too.
And they tried to go full mech warrior with the front mission for the Xbox. Which completely loses what made front mission so great.
Front mission 5 scars of the war has an english patch out. I got it running on my steam deck
Oh, so the combat system is from valkyria chronicles. Cool
Let's hope the rating system is actually sensible.....
"Thin Toys"? I actually love that name for Drone systems.
Bro armoured core was the best mech game by far, customisation was amazing in some of the games
As a Titanfall fan I always happy to see mech game present.nice video like usual.
Need Titanfall 3 ;-;
Damn Mate .. thats why i love your channel... you are straigt at the core of goodness when it comes to games you know from old times... Petty that front mission got hit too hard by their attempt to got tps :-) hopefully they bring something along the way
I love how the Votoms whirring noise used in this game when the mechs are rollerskating around
Kenji: "Don't bring missile launchers and machine guns to a Know-ife fight"
There are the vintage MissionForce: CyberStorm and CyverStorm 2: Corporate Wars games for mech strategy maniacs. They were among the first games I ever bought.
This looks brilliant, great potential, if fulfilled it's going to be an absolute beast of a game.
Very Nice! We love this channel so much ☑
Zone of Enders 2 is the perfect Mech Game. Front mission 3's rng based system was the most fun I'd ever had with rng in my life.
Saw the trailer for this game and first thing that came to mind was Front Mission 3 for the good 'ol PSX. Glad to see you playing this.
Armored Core, Front Mission 3 and Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere, those were the days, 15 yo and not a single worry on my mind, those were the days...
Dong-Bot best thing I'll hear all day
Man that's just cold blooded leaving us wondering what happened after the EMP.
Mech warrior and armoured core will always be my fav mech games.
Ooooh i love this type of system its the same as one of my favorite jrpgs
these ambitious mecha projects never seem to come out
I've been waiting on this forever!
he mentioned all the games that i love. SUBS
The background voice seems to be the on board assistance telling you how much energy the controlled unit has and also when the the unit runs out of action points. At least from what I can make out, it is very soft compared to the other in-game sounds.
i actually love the originality of this game, excited to see where it goes
Its actually a combination of Front Mission and Valkyria Chronicles and the result is pretty good :D
HUGE Front Mission nostalgia attack in 3 2 1 aaaand BOOOM
Man I literally just bought front mission 3 on psn for the vita i gotta play this too thanks splat
This looks great! Front Mission story with Valkyria Gameplay! Looks good.
SC Earned my sub when i heard front mission :)
This game looks awesome! Good valkyria chronicles vibes
Pretty awesome. Cinematic.
Awesome Ozzi acent on "big knife".👍
Front mission is my jam, especially with emulation and translations allowing us to play Japanese only entries now. Switch is also giving front mission some love over this next year.
This game looks pretty cool. Definitely keeping my eye on it.
0:48 Yeah, front mission was the shit back in the day, specially Front Mission 3 for the PSX!! Good old days~
And here I am, hoping for a good mech game like the old days...
So mech based Valkyrie Chronicles kool
A fellow lurmboat, I wonder if we ever fought? My go to credit grinder was an LRM 45 pretty baby. If it wasn’t that it was either a LRM 60 mauler, supernova, or the mighty Annihilator. I’m still salty about the nerfs to PPCs and the AC 40 build. Pissing off friend and foe alike with giant assault missile boats will always be my favorite thing about MWO. Always satisfying to have thousands more damage than the ally who tells you at the beginning of a match “GG we have an assault lurmer”.
Omg he said the thing. Front Mission was my favourite!
front mission 3 was my favorite playstation 1 game, have had this game in my wishlist to keep an eye on it.
I used the Front Mission 3 art as my steam profile picture for a long time. It was one of my favorite games and this might scratch that itch.
ill be looking forward to this game great graphics, Front mission style combined with Valkyria mechanics ughhh awesomeness overload!
I don't know if you noticed Splat but there are subtitles for the in-combat dialogue at the top of the screen.
Front mission 3 was one of my top 10 favorite games lol
There have been quite a lot of mech games lately.
My favourite so far is still the mech repair one though.
What that exists? What is it called?
Mech Mechanic Simulator. Sadly, I can't play it because moving from station to station is first person perspective, which gives me simulation sickness
"destroy all thin toys"
roger that
getting mad EDF vibes from the UI, overall nice game!
Like the presentation. Yes the Valkyrie analogy is correct... Lol Real time with pause might be better? Still a solid 👍
make me miss a game like this from around 2000. its a mech fighting in any arena or something.
I like the skid mode. It reminds me of RWBY. You've got to love a big ol' mecha on roller skates.
This game looks pretty good, design wise.
That enemy is raw AF! EMP'd your whole squad at the end lol.
Phantom Brigade is looking like a really interesting strategy mech game
I think the Evasion in this game is equal to hide yourself in order to block the range attack between you and the enemy.
If your lookin for mech games may I recommend HAWKEN its a tad old and entirely dead but it was a solid first person mech shooter
the servers are shut down now iirc, no way to play anymore
According to google switch port is in the works. Given how tactical action are on portable platforms that is probably a good choice
Some one should make a mech game with FF7 Remake combat. Have full on action moving around blocking firing normal weapons to build up a ATB bar like FF7 to be able to use your special weapon attacks as the game slows down while you cycle through lots of different abilities on your mech and then after your big attack you go back to dodging blocking moving around attacking with normal weapons.
FF7 Remakes combat is honestly a really good combat system that could work extremely well with alot of different games. I hope more game devs pick it up and use it for all different future games.
Makes me think of Ring of Red. I played it on the ps2 ages ago.
Good game, very underrated, still have it in my collection
25:58 nice impression, I wouldn't blink hearing that on DBZ or something as a kid.
27:13 "I'm gonna punch this dude, dude. Let's punch him."
Fav mech game is probably, a gundam game back from the age of the dream cast cant remember the name
Its no Armored Core, but Daemon x Machina is a good recent mech game.
I checked it out its pricey
with how the enemies shoot at you while you are moving its kinda like front mission meets valkyria chronicles
This reminds me so much of Front Mission 4
Some crocodile dundee coming out! Must have more!
Into the Breach is an exellent macha-banger you forgot to mention!
and its as indy as it gets )
I believe the creator's of Demon Ex-machina made this game. I own it, and the sound effects are basically the same files. Specifically body movements, weapons firing, and item pickup ect... I see alot of design similarities. I'll still give this game a try looks cool, and I'm a fan of "Demon".
"Accuracy by volume. I respect it." Lol.
man i remember playing robo tech back in the day. but i also played steel battalion cousin i just remember that being something crazy like 200 dollars plus for it.
Everything you talked about wanting to see is in Battle tech and it's DLCS.
This game looks fucking cool, thanks bro
Would absolutely watch a series of this. 50% for the game 50% for Spats paraphrasing of bad translations
i'm glad he didn't mention Left Alive as a Front Mission side game
Front Mission 3 is my favorite game of all time. A close second is Tactics Ogre...
Front Mission series meets Valkyria Chronicles series. Any who had played Valkyria Chronicles the battle system game play should be somewhat familiar.
This is literally mech Valkyria Chronicles. Looks decent. Imma buy it
remind me of the Front Mission series, but now mix with realtime action, i'm very impressive :">
actualy front mission failed with "evolve" but dual gear is actualy frontmission :) love it :)
The gameplay seems inspired by Resonance of Fate
Anyone remember exteel? Man that game was so much fun.
Wish-listed. With some polish, I will definitely buy this.
Me like "Front Mission" this definetly front mission gameplay n design art Zenislev
On the topic of .. mech endowments.. physically speaking that shape serves a very important purpose. The size of the "part" would move the mech's center of gravity closer to the ground making it less likely that a biped would fall over during its walk cycle, and second the phallic nature would also shift that center of gravity further forward so it A: requires less energy to ambulate and B: counteracts the recoil from shoulder mounted weapons so the mech isn't toppled by its own weapons.
I'ma stop being wired now.. sorry.

Have you tried Phantom Brigade? I've been really enjoying it in early access :)
My favourite mechs game still is Heavy Gear, both tabletop and computer
Armored Core and FRONT MISSION 100%!!!
