    I have a 2016. Its brilliant for the money. I paid 25k with 30k on the odometer. I have put 14k trouble free miles on it. I would highly recommend getting a 30 amp 240 volt circuit. Level 2 charging is life changing. I can go months with using a drop of fuel.

      Ted, I agree...love the ELR! I have toyed with the idea of installing the 240v. I retired earlier this year, so now I have no commute. So far I haven't had to put gas in for quite a while even with the 110v charger.

      Ya it was great, but I highly recommend upgrading to a Model 3. I had an ELR prior. Only things I miss from my ELR is the black alcantara headliner and the heated steering wheel, but that is actually coming soon on the 3. I have Free Supercharging on my Tesla. Driving your car for free while burning zero gas is life changing! Gas is a thing of the past.

      @@InSaN3ViSioN Yep, I took a ride in a 3 and it was pretty sweet. Although, the interior in the 3 was kind of sterile feeling...but, it was fast!

      @@InSaN3ViSioN I would except for the range issue. In major markets it’s ok but I do a ton of driving as a field rep. Most of it is in the Midwest where supercharging is still really inconvenient. The ELR is a transition car for me as infrastructure becomes more plentiful. I would love to have a 3 or an S.

    I have a white 2016 with just a little over 25,000 miles. I average about 50 miles on a charge and have seen about 340 miles on the range extender this summer. I have own the car since February of this year and have to say overall I am happy.

      Cool! I think I've driven mine about 100 miles total in the last 8 months, a little under 23,000 miles on the car right now. It goes into "Maintenance Mode" occasionally and runs the engine for a few minutes. I try not to fill it up at once since I don't want the gas going bad over time.

    We love our ELR. We shipped a CPO red 2016 ELR from a Michigan Cadillac dealer to Los Angeles last year. It had about 25K miles on it. Ours came with adaptive cruise control. It joins our 2019 Jaguar I-PACE. So all our cars now are electrified.

      Cool! When I was shopping for mine I could find no 2016 models that had adaptive cruise control, I know there are a few out there like yours, but it must’ve been a little more common in the 2014 model.

    It's one of my favorite cars out there and so rare. The 2016 is extremely rare. My only wish is that the back seat didn't have that middle pillar that didn't go down. I currently drive a paid off 2010 Prius that I've Loved for 10 years and I'm looking for a possible Gap car between owning the Prius and having a future Cybertruck. 2016 ELR is typically go for around 33 k. If I end up getting an ELR it's going to be a very short term loan so I'm not looking to spend more than 18 or 19k. I'll probably end up with a 2014 if I can't find a 2016 close to that price. I remember sitting in one in a car show in DC years ago and loving it mainly because it looked so much like the concept car.

      I've never driven a 2014, so I can't speak to the differences personally. But, it does seem like you can get a considerable discount on a 2014 vs. a 2016.

    Very informative video.
    I’ve been wanting an ELR buy can’t seem to find one that comes with all the features. This video reassured me that I was right to go with the 2016 model rather than the 14.

      We bought a farm. I sold the ELR and bought a new tractor on the same day. With gas prices the way they are, I wish I had that fuel economy back!

    Liked your video....I’m a 2013 Volt owner and I love my car....I’m saving up to get a 2014 ELR version!!! The Volt is a fun car to drive and own....you’re electric bill will go up slightly, but it’s better than getting gas all the time!! The ELR was copied from the Volt....very quiet!! Thanks for your video and time

    There is a replacement rubber air dam for the Volt that is 1 inch shorter. $50 on ebay.

    Thanks for this great video. Are you concerned with the long term maintenance of a discontinued vehicle? I've heard stories about dealerships not wanting to touch this car. I'm a prospective buyer and this is a primary concern.

      I'm not too concerned about maintenance since it's so similar to a Chevy Volt from a drivetrain standpoint. I believe parts availability will be the biggest concern since it's such a low-volume vehicle. No doubt, Cadillac will start discontinuing production on the ELR-specific parts as soon as the warranty (and extended CPO warranties) expire. We will be in the same boat (on an even smaller scale) as the Cadillac XLR owners.

      That's awesome...I think my longest road trip in the ELR was 1250 miles. Like you say, problem-free and totally comfortable for all-day driving.

    My friend recently bought a 2016 ELR. The battery only gives 28 miles of range, not 39. Failing battery? 😢

      Could be, or could be cold, weather, or a pessimistic battery range indicator. It should really give around 35 miles typically. I think I have had a worst of 28 and the best of 50 when I had that car.

    If I could’ve found one of these, I would’ve bought it in a heartbeat. I bought a 2018 ATS 3.6 Premium Performance coupe , which is probably a better car, but not as dramatically styled. But it does come with magnetic ride control the upgraded differential all the electronic driver assist stuff, and a sunroof, even though it’s tiny. I’ve owned a lot of different cars in my lifetime from BMWs to Mercedes to even vintage muscle cars and the CTS by far is my favorite and I think if I had bought an ELR it probably would’ve been my favorite too because I would’ve had to turn around and look at it every time I parked it because I think it is that beautiful. It is such a pity that Cadillac didn’t develop this further.. I need to base it. Sales failure on such a small numbers in production anyways crazy. Even with the ATS , that deserved a second generation instead of the CT4 which replaces it, which I think is actually a step backwards. It certainly is a step backwards on the interior.

      I agree, the exterior stying is beautiful and they spent a lot of money on making the interior nice. I think i averaged almost 100 mpg on fuel expense during my ownership.

    When Do u have to replace batteries? How is maitence on it ?

      Well, I’ve had two of these but never for a long time so not sure how long the batteries really last. I’m sure it varies. Check out early Volt owners and their battery experiences have been great for the most part. Again, maintenance has been minimal but I’m sure these cars age they will need maintenance just like every other car. Just less on the engine part.

      One Volt went 477,000 before it died due to hitting a semi tire tread.

    Saw several reviews, but non of them address my need, maybe you can help me: I drive about 30K per year on Hwy, I finally got a hybrid MKZ but not happy with power (love everything else). Would the ELR serve my needs. I want to get to 50/60 mpg with power, luxury and comfort. Thank you

      I also had an MKZ hybrid in between the two Cadillac ELRs I’ve owned. If you go for the ELR, that needs to be a 2016 model which has better acceleration than the 2015. My ELR got around 31 miles to the gallon on the highway once I ran out of battery power. I drove it straight through from Washington DC to Dallas and got about 31 mpg the whole way. To me the Cadillac was a dramatically nicer car than the NKZ.

      @@pinkcaddygarage267 appreciate the reply! So the gas engine does not charge the electric one, unlike hybrid. But it can independently get 30+ that’s acceptable. And I agree ELR is much more superior, I’ve just had great luck with Lincoln’s, drove 276K on previous MKZ w no problems, I’m not confident Cardi can be as reliable, but certainly would be an upgrade.     My line voltage is 117/120 volts AC. That is the U.S. standard home line voltage. 110 AC voltage, who uses that?

    All leather in the car, no vinyl as far as I know. Good video though!

      I just went out to try to see what the material is...the large swath of material on the bottom portion doesn't wrinkle like leather when I push it, pretty sure that's part is vinyl. I probably assumed the upper portions were the same, probably shouldn't assume!
      Whichever, it's nicely done!

    Yep, too high price. IT's the same as a VOLT which is $35k My Dialed in 97 TDI Passat has tons more room, gets 52mpg CONSISTANTLY at 75mph in ANY Reasonable Weather, and 900 miles to a tank that takes me 5 minutes to fill. Oh yea, I'm coming up on 377,000 miles on the original drive train, including the clutch.

      @@pinkcaddygarage267 Also... I didn't mention this... If you've never ridden in an OLD Passat, they RIDE Like a Cadillac! No kidding, and I've had MANY Cadillacs and Lincolns. Might not have all the new BELLS and Whistles as far as TECHNOLOGY, but it comes down to Ride and Economy. AND I've got 4 Adult boys who each have a TDI. We LOVE'em. IT's going to be hard to jam FULLY EV's down our throats.

I Picked up a 61 Coupe DeVille Last year that runs and drives (Didn't stop till i put in Disc brakes) off C/L from a guy who had it stored since 1980 when it broke down in at the parade and the guy just wanted it gone, so posted it for $1,500. No kidding (Don't know WHAT he was thinking, as he said he had 40 calls before mine! No one told him "Yes I have cash and I'll Take it!" ). Just got done painting it Satin Black along with a Black Leather Bucket interior, and my Kids and Grandkids call it the BatMobile with the badging I put on it, along with the Big Black 17" Shelby Torque Thrusters I put on it.

      Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I prefer the ELR roofline/rear end vs. the CTS Coupe.
