One of those rare Ollie videos that brings in fresh ideas from a relatable perspective! Thanks!
Thank you! :D I'm glad you liked the video
@@SarahParkMatott yes
As someone who has been working on ollie for 6 months, this is the best advice out there. Take foot positioning for example. Aaron Kyro says, put feet closer together. Sure if you are a pro - this works great, cause you do ollies as easily as blinking your eye. But for a beginner - as the girl says - it is the worst you can do. Do the opposite, you will feel more stable, you will level the board much better ... you won't hear this often from any tutorials. GOOD JOB SARAH!
Thanks! I'm glad you appreciated the content. 😃 (I obviously agree that this is important lol) I think there is a little disconnect between some of the skaters making tutorials and the ones watching them. Like this foot positioning example, I think most of the teachers assume that skaters want to know how to ollie higher after they learn how to level out the ollie, when a lot of skaters are trying to learn how to "ollie higher" because they don't know how to level out the ollie. So the intended audience and the actual audience seem to be a bit different, without either side realizing it. And so, it seems to be a bit of a cycle.
very well done on this ollie tutorial! these are the information which every beginner needs to know. most especially, the front foot placement. majority of the tutorial demonstrated the front foot in the middle of the board to level it out! keep it up!
@@sugaranderson1 Thank you! I'm glad you think so 😃🙏 Yeah, I think increasing the distance between the nose and your front foot as a beginner is usually not a great idea. It's hard enough to push the nose forward as it is 😂
Like perfecting your ollies right? I’ve taught a couple of my friends to Ollie both stationary and moving in the matter of a few days. I couldn’t imagine you’re failing to actually ollie.
i feel it all depends on each person and what you feel comfortable with. for example. im learning how to ollie but its much easier for me to keep my feet closer together and when it comes to popping a different foot position feels more comfortable and better to pop with.
This is the magnum opus of ollie tutorials; this will help out many people out there struggling!
thank you! 🙏 I really hope so 😃
@@SarahParkMatott such amazing content! So glad I found your channel!
I've been making ollies for 5 monts. I watched a LOT of Ollie tutorials, asked my friends, but nothing that they said worked. I was just about to give up because I couldn't find no one out there who had the same problem as me, and then, in the last moment, this video appeared. You're a lifesaver, I will definitely try this tomorrow. Thank you so much, seriously
Seriously hope it helps! It easily takes months and months to get there, so don't feel discouraged. You'll get them 💪
You can do this! 👍🏼
The way you have broken the Ollie down into 5 easy steps will certainly help. This has been one of the best videos I have watched on learning this trick 👏
Thank you! 😃😃 I’m glad you liked the video and steps!
The point that real popping is without touching the ground, helped me a lot. Thx! Greeting from Tokyo. Your explanation is better than any other videos made by people here!
I'm so glad to hear that! My greetings to you in Tokyo! 🙋♀️
Finally second video I've seen where the slide is disproved. I'm pretty sure I don't even "slide". I don't know where that even came from. People overstate and over-emphasize the slide! Barely any slide. More like a scratch to me.
The heartbeat analogy really helps. Great video. Thank you
Starting sessions with ollies = already tired after 10 attempts = me 🤣🤣🤣
😂 That's been me a few times too 😂
As someone who decided to get back into skating in their 30's, this video is amazing help. I too followed the Aaron Kyro way and fell more or didn't level out my ollies. This video really helped make some things click.
Hey, that's awesome. Stoked to hear some things clicked 💪
I frickin love your channel.. I'm 41 and just starting to ride again, it's amazing how much I've forgotten.
Thank you! I'm glad you like the channel so much 😃 Welcome back to skating 💪
@@SarahParkMatott I love your channel too; I'm 45, and recently started teaching my young girls to skate. All the other trick breakdowns you have on your channel is giving me lots of help & ideas in teaching the girls. Keep it up!
The popping exercise is gold!! I was either pinching or ghost popping 50% of the times. Also this exercise develops some muscles you need to actually pop hard and solid. Thankyou!!
Exactly! 💪 It's not just about the skill, but the muscle. Gotta trick ourselves into developing both 😃 Glad you like that exercise!
Thank you Sarah!!! You helped unlock my 30 year stuck ollie (w long breaks) just today, less than a year back on board. Many good instructors and instructions here on CZcams, nobody breaks it down step by step with quality visuals like you do. Mega thanks for your work!! The other dudes are like “look, like this, it’s easy!”. You are way ahead of the curve on all of this.
ahh thanks Jason! Stoked to hear that the tips helped unlock the ollie for you! That's amazing 😃 Keep shredding!
Some folks can do stuff but can’t teach others how to do them but you have the best teaching videos I have seen. Kudos
ah, thank you! Glad you've liked the tutorials :D
This video is a must watch for any beginners who are trying to learn Ollie.
This is the best ollie tutorial on CZcams without question.
🙏🙏🙇♀️
That heart beat analogy is really helpful, thanksss
this is the sweetest voice I've ever heard explaining an ollie 😍
Her voice almost put me to sleep. Relaxing af
😴💤
I love how thorough your videos are in comparison to other youtubers! You're really good at explaining things as if we've never heard them, while other sketeboarding youtubers have a tendency to explain things as if they're super basic, just because it's something they've been familiar with for so long. Thank you!
This really helped me pinpoint what I'm doing wrong. Ghost pop, not bringing both my knees up, and not leveling out my board
Without doubt some of the best beginner videos I've seen in my 41 years.
Thank you 😃
I just found your videos. This one was very helpful. I'm still not ollying after three years of returning to skating after 40 years of not so much skating. I'm going to keep trying ollies now, feet apart. Thank you.
I’m glad you found it helpful! Yeah, everyone has a pretty different path to the ollie, but you’ll definitely get there! Keep shredding👊
She's such a skate scientist and I loved it!
7:40 thanks for this. It seems no one really talks about this aspect of Ollies. When I started, my board would slip before I jump/pop and it had to do with my weight distribution/shoulders.
Yeah, the weight distribution and pop angle too (which is sometimes a result of the weight/shoulders), are less talked about, which is why I made sure to add it. I wanted to put in lesser known issues in this video! Glad you liked that part 😊🙏
i never thought of the back foot as not touching the floor to make the pop, that’s cool to know. I always try to emphasize the back foot my slamming it down but not really getting a good height. This video brings so many good ideas to making the ollie work
Yeah, it took a long time to figure that out haha which is why I like to emphasize it. Hope you have fun working through your ollie though! 💪
no offence braille (theyre great) but this girl really knows how to teach ollies, so well explained. super in depth, great editing to emphasize points. its gotta be the best ollie video ive seen yet.
I appreciate that! I'm really glad you liked the video so much :D
Some of the best ollie advice ive ever heard, visualising it has a heart beat helps with the timing a lot
ahh stoked to hear that 💪
This is way better than any other video I have watched or person that has tried to teach me to ollie. I couldn’t really figure out what I was doing wrong until I watched this video and now I know that I’m not centering myself completely and my back foot goes behind the board. I couldn’t figure out why it was behind but now I know so thank you for the help. It means a lot to me. Most of the other tutorials do not explain staying level with the board and I couldn’t really find any tutorial that was explaining why my foot doesn’t stay on, but you helped. Thank you.
thank you! I'm glad to hear it helped 😃
Amateurs teaching advanced tricks is what we all needed and didn't know it. Outstanding video
Great tips! Very helpful.
This video helped a lot…thank you!!
This video is incredible and the best video I've seen yet, thank you so much 😭😭
Thank you for the helpful video, Queen.
OMG the best ollie video I ever seen. thanks a lot !
Most helpful guide
lots of good info, well presented. Job well done Sarah.
By far one of the best tutorial video on the subject that I have seen so far
Wow, thanks!🙏
this is going to help SO much with my ollies!
Literally the best video I have ever seen, it’s helped me tremendously improve over the course of 20 minutes
thank you for this breakdown! this will def help me find my cues!
Your tutorials are so informative, easy to understand and calming at the same time.
Thanks for breaking these down you totally read my mind 🥺🥺🥺💕💕💕💕
Love this video. Thanks. Also you have a great voice.
I'm actually working on leveling out my ollie's these past few days. Thank you for tips and new ideas ♥
Awesome video as always!
Thanks 😃 Glad you liked it!
This was really helpful, thanks!! 🌟
Glad it was helpful! Thank you! 😃
Thank you for your videos! They are always so helpful and uplifting ❤
How are your tutorials literally the best ones I’ve came across. How do you know all this
haha literally trial, error and analysis 😂
I think this is the best video out there on this topic
This is honestly one of the best skate tutorials I've seen. Sarah breaks it all down into pieces and describes every single possible mistake you can make. And all this being so humble! Great stuff Sarah, you're now my favourite skate teacher!!!
ah thanks Daniel! I'm really glad you liked the tutorial 😃🙌
A great video! Helped me a lot
Glad to hear it! :D
so glad I found this video and your channel. I still struggle with leveling out and your tips & tricks for this are so fresh and innovative, yet so easy to put in practice! thanks
Thank you! I’m glad you liked the video 😃 Leveling out is seriously so difficult. It took months for me to even start to actually do it semi-correctly. And it takes a lot more strength than I first thought😂 But! You can do it! Just keep shredding and it will come 💪
Great way to explain the steps of an Ollie. I will definitely refer to your directions.
Thank you sooo much for this tutorial !
🙏🙏
As an OG newbie, this is the best Ollie video I've watched. And I've watched them ALL, LOL. I can't seem to get my back foot up. I will practice your back foot exercise. Thanks!
wow, thank you! 😃 I can't remember if I mentioned them in this video, but if you're struggling to get that back foot up, another great exercise to practice is the knee tuck jump! They always help me remember to bring both my feet up. I just do one or two, then try the trick again :D
Dude, this is so good
Very helpful tutorial
amazing tutorial
This is a great Ollie tutorial. I’m very impressed with how well you are able to elucidate the movements of an Ollie and effectively combining them with other Ollie tutorials. This was exemplified by telling people to minimize the sliding moth on in the beginning to maximize stability…Great video!
This came at the right time as I just started going to a local skatepark. Cheers Sarah!
Yay for the good timing! 💪😃Thank you!
Great ollie tips thanks 😊👍
Thank you! 😃🙏
A lot of good tips in this video! Love the way you broke this down, I remember struggling for such a long time when I first learned my ollies a while back and wish I had more videos like this one. Keep shredding Sarah!! 🔥👊
Thanks Neil!🙏 I’m glad you liked how I broke this down😃 Ollies are such a difficult trick to really get down. You keep shredding too💪
Super underrated video! It really helped me a lot and I could really improve my Ollies. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! 😃 I'm stoked it helped!
this video addressed all of my ollie issues! it's amazing for beginners! thank you for making this!
I'm so glad I covered them all and that you liked the video😃
Awesome video. Really brought a new perspective. Can’t wait to get out and try these suggestions.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Hope some of the suggests prove useful for your ollie practice 💪
Sick🔥 This is awesome keep it up👌🏽 you’re killing it🤟🏽
Thank you 💪💪😄 Will definitely do my best!
Sarah, by far your video has been the best I have found on CZcams to learn Ollie. Thanks for going into all the details and educating us. I can't wait to go back tomorrow and improve my Ollie.
Thank you so much! Really happy to hear that. Hope the information helps. 💪
i just found your channel and you have great advice! will definitely be watching more of your vids
Glad you liked the video! Hope you keep enjoying them 😃
Thanks for the hard work on this and the unique approach. Your tutorials are on another level.
(Somehow I missed this! Sorry for seeing it now). Thank you so much 😃 I'm glad you like the tutorials!
Best breakdown for beginners. Experts forget all the little micro-skills that go into it. Just getting good at my ollies and agree with all your tips!
One of the best tutorials available, so detailed and insightful! Thanks so much Sarah.
Thank you Ryan! 😃 I'm glad you think so. Hope it helps 💪
The best Ollie tutorial video I have ever watched 💛 thanks a lot 💛
Thank you! 🙏
Wow that was insightful. You’re really good at teaching, keep this up!
Thanks Jancarlo! 😃
Super great tutorial!! Thank you Sarah, with your videos I improve day by day!
ah that's awesome! Stoked to hear it 😃
This video is extremely rare and useful, THANK YOU
Haha thank you! Really happy to hear that😃🙏
Outstanding video, you really break it down well. Very inspiring for a new skater
Thank you 😃 I'm glad you liked the break down!
The way your broke everything down is seriously impressive. Love all the research and editing that went into this! Seriously, never stop making videos!! The quality of your content is fantastic.
I’ve only been seriously skating on and off for a few months and have been a little upset at my progress so far. I went out for a few hours today keeping all the tips from this video in mind and I seriously had the best time. It was fun and refreshing which I haven’t felt in awhile. My ollies still look like a beginner’s, and I still have so much work to do to get a strong foundation in skating in general, but I’m excited to just keep skating and progressing!
Thank you so much! That’s so cool to hear. Glad the video was so helpful 😃 hope you keep shredding and having fun 💪💪 I’ll keep doing my best to make videos!
Such good energy, I appreciate you and your videos, really puts me in a good mental space. Thanks stay rad
thanks Riley! You stay rad too 💪
I really like your dissection of the ollie moves and your attitude to be patient and make steady progress!
Thank you! 😃 Being patient is probably the hardest and most important part 🤦♀️
This is really great, thank you for dividing your video into easy to find sections. I came here for advice on levelling out my board and found what I was looking for easily. It remains to be seen if application is as easy, but your advice is very clear.
Ay happy to hear that 😃 application is typically not easy haha but, really hope it helps 💪
Great advice, explained well.
Glad you think so! :D Thank you!
Your content has been so refreshing compared to a lot of videos I've watched to learn the ollie! I really like the breakdown of each mistake. I swear I've had each and every one of these problems learning the ollie.
Thank you! I'm glad you've been enjoying the content 😃 I've had most of these mistakes too, so I feel you there 😂
Thanks for your videos, Sarah. You're so systematic and logical.
Thanks Tuan Do! Happy to hear that 😃
Thanks a lot.. I wish I watched your videos sooner. it really helps a lot.
Thank you very, very, very much!
Helpful advises
You're producing, constantly, some of the best content on learning to skating. I appreciate how you approach and dissect the mechanics of these tricks. Thanks for the content.
Ah, I appreciate that! Thank you🙏 will keep doing my best
Excellent video! I'm not a beginner, but I still appreciated your perspectives. At a certain point, it seems like one kinda hits a limit with ollie height. I've been skating for years and it seems I have a max height that I can only hit on a good day. I think genetics or body type might have something to do with it. I've made my peace with it, but I still love to watch a good ollie tutorial now and then to see if I can improve. :)
ohh I'd agree. I think we have physical advantages and disadvantages when it comes to ollies and other tricks--some that we can work through, perhaps some we can't. I also think that's fine 😃 Glad you still enjoyed the video!
wow this was really helpful i appreciate it a lot!
Thank you! Glad to hear that 😃
I really love your video.. it's come with beautiful message and advices.. thank you very much.. really appreaciate it.. 🥰
i watched tons of videos about ollie and they say the same thing. its refreshing to hear some new tips from u:)
Thank you! 🙏😃
Ive watched like 50 different videos this is the best one and taught me so much thanks!
Wow, thank you so much 😃 I'm really glad to hear that!
Thank you so much! minutes after this video my ollie felt so much better!
💪That's awesome to hear!
I'm glad that I found your channel! :'D Wish you all the best for your skate progression:)
Welcome to the channel, and thank you so much! :D
I love your style, it’s so clean and it’s like your arms are one with the board
wow, thank you 😃
Literally the best ollie video ever made. So refreshing and in depth and looks at every aspect. I’ve always felt like I had problems with my back foot when I ollie and this video showed me what was up even after skating for over 3 years.
ah thanks Aaron! I'm really glad you were able to get something out of this even after skating for so long 😃
Recently, I got a little little level up for my Ollie a bit, so much fun and joy. I will try your 5 steps. Thanks for sharing!
Have fun with it! :D
I am so glad I came across this vid!
Thank you! 😃 Hope it helps!💪
THANK YOU
