    I just started riding also. I got a Begode T4 Pro +. It took me about 20 Min to ride it with handrail next to me. Then I took it to a big parking lot and rode it around big sweeping turns. Turning right is harder for me as well. I have about 6 miles so far on it. My legs are sore hopefully my legs will acclimate to it.
    Great video It's nice to see someone learning like me.

    If your V8S is tilting forwards in turns, stop and set the V8S on the front "bumper" on level pavement, then do a "calibration" from the app, which is a turn calibration to stop the tilt during a turn. If riding in a straight line, at around 8 mph, the V8S will become stable, and you can essentially stand still without having to make any balance corrections. Riding in a straight line is mostly about trust and going fast enough, not balance. To turn, the EUC needs to be tilted to steer, and you have to lean for balance. It will take a while to learn how much to tilt and how much to lean depending on turning radius and speed. A good way to learn this is while riding in a straight line, lean left, then tilt the V8S left enough to straighten you back up, then the same for the right, weaving left and right. The point of this is to tilt into direction of lean to recover from an imbalance, such as getting hit by a crosswind. Once you are comfortable doing this, after leaning left or right, tilt only enough to hold the lean angle for a bit before titling more to straighten up. It may take a while to be able to hold a stead lean angle. Do this over a range of speeds. This is part of counter-steering, tilt the V8S more to lean less, tilt the V8S less to lean more. It would help to find another location, like an outdoor parking lot, where you can ride in a straight line for a longer distance. Tight turns require riding slow, so you need to learn to ride slow, which will require balance corrections. You can tilt and|or twist the V8S to steer at slow speed for balance and direction control. You can arm flail to twist the V8S: with extended arms, flail arms left to twist V8S right and vice versa. For the dismounts, try staying on a bit longer while slowing down for each dismount until you can slow to a near stop when dismounting. I wouldn't recommend using power pads on a V8S. I ride a V8F, and can easily overpower it riding pedals only (I weigh about 200 lbs with gear). I'm using an app that I've set to let me know if I've just exceeded 25 amps (fuse is 30 amps), so that I don't overpower it.

    Turn your head all the way and dip the wheel down. You gotta commit. Put some cones or a rock and use that as your turning radius. Or use chalk and draw a circle about 10-12 ft in diameter. Ride in that circle. Slowly make that circle smaller. Playgrounds are the best because they already have circles for basketball or something already painted. You keep worrying about dropping the wheel. That's playing a game in your head. If it drops, it drops.

  • @GreggsonWong
    @GreggsonWong Před 3 měsíci +1

    You're going slow and that's cool. But, as you start to pick soeed. The one thing you should work on when riding EUC is a slight weight transfer from side to side, 60/40 or 70/30 at times. This will become more apparent the faster you go, especially when going really fast. This is how people control speed wobbles. Think of it as keeping the wobble in check Good luck and enjoy the ride brother.🤙

  • @oldretireddude

    Start gently carving back and forth a couple of feet, instead of riding in a straight line. It will loosen your stance up a little and get you legs ready for other maneuvers. Smaller carving is a good way to drop speed and kill time as you approach another moving object, either sentient or automotive.

    • @therealbergexperience5640
      @therealbergexperience5640  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I did carve I tiny bit and it felt great. I was so focused on turning around that I didn’t give carving much attention as I should. But next time. It’s good to just get out there cause it lets me know what I need to work on each time. Thank you for the tips for sure!!

    @spikebbc Před 3 měsíci

    Great progress! Just keep at it every day. Start doing more figure 8's to be confortable turning in either direction. Get a lot more miles on the V8 before you move to the Lynx. There will be a big weight and power difference that you need to be prepared for.

  • @Stefonewheel
    @Stefonewheel Před 3 měsíci +2

    My dude!! You got it. I’m so happy for your progress. That’s the perfect place to be to learn turns and to pick up your speed. When I have time, I like to go to Central Park and do laps that helps my speed and definitely my turning. Also, there or in a parking lot do figure 8s. The smaller your figure 8 gets the better your turns will be. Keep it up my brother. I wish we were in the same city so we could ride together. And as far as riding more often once you completely get it, you will want to ride every day all day. Trust me. Your problem will be how far am I going and will the wife mind that I’m riding for so long. I went out on a group ride the other day and was out for 4 hours. The wife was like are you going to do this all the time? 😊 😬
    Question did you get a different wheel? I thought you had the veteran links or Abrams?

      My guy 🙌🏾 yup. I ended up grabbing a V8s to learn on. It was cheap and I don’t mind banging it up. Still got the Lynx though. It ain’t going nowhere. Thing is beautiful. Even it is only sitting in my kitchen 😂 I love it. Next time I come home I’ll try to figure a way to bring my wheel with me. Then we can get up for a ride. I’m from Parkchester Castle Hill neighborhood. My cousin Papi just got out. Need to go see him. He’s with Papoose everyday.

    Enjoying your journey. I wonder if it is harder to learn transitioning from one-wheel to EUC since you already have a "set" physical conformance to onewheel that would need to be "adjusted" to the EUC vs someone like me who has no experience with either? I really want to buy one and give it a try. Keep up the good work!

    {tl;dr. …I was kidding myself thinking I only wanted to share one idea. Feel free to ignore.}
    What I have come to understand about my own learning process is that learning occurs under novel conditions. Every experience, nuance, situation, transition, disruption, struggle, recovery, performance envelope expansion, mastery, and rejoicing is a humbling spiritual experience for many riders. There’s literally 100s of suggestions that might be helpful but I’ll limit it to one.
    Slow your roll.
    It’s counterintuitive but the slower you go, the faster you’ll learn. There’s an artificial sense of security once we’re ‘up to speed’ and the momentum of the wheel assists rider stabilization. Sure, enjoy that zone for about half your practice time; this time should be spent focusing mainly on feeling body sensation (No thinking, no distractions, no worrying about the EUC). It’s simply about observing your body, resistance, twitches, tension, stress, heat, chill and meditate. All while riding well within whatever speed you consider your comfort zone.
    The other 50% of practice time should be devoted (religiously) to the challenges of riding at speeds slower than your comfort zone. Unlike the comfort zone, this is where it’s all about struggle. You actively need to think: think about what speed you go from your comfort zone to slowly lose stability under similar conditions or repeated actions. Ride as close to your comfort zone as necessary but spend most of your efforts expanding the lower boundaries of speed. Every motion, every skill, every muscle memory, every surprise, every setback, and every injury is best learned or overcome at the lower edge of your own particular skill level and limitations.
    Spend time experiencing the multitude of ways you can style the exact same motion. Savor every detail, then look for more nuance when you think your getting bored. Repetition should be savored but not for uniformity. It’s more useful to repeat the same motion (like a figure-8) while focusing primarily on ‘how the wheel feels’: how’s the weight, power, noises, nimbleness, friction, physics and physical limitations of the euc design. This thinking and sensing exercise about the objective aspects of riding that specific wheel, and will help the wheel to become a more unconscious reflexive (automatic and involuntary) responsive rider, which means flow! Flow is what you get when you experience everything, challenged every possible learning opportunity with the destabilizing instability of lowering your speed. This is process that can be immensely beneficial and enjoyable. And, this is how I practice and I’m constantly amazed that the more skills I build, the more opportunities arise that present the need to learn further. {For some, this becomes ‘a good addiction’.}
    I believe that you’ll find relatively little advice, unless you pry, cajole or demand louder. I believe everyone has a similarly equivalent passion about their own particular learning process or experience. Everyone finds their way to the goal they had in mind from before their first wheel arrived.
    Slow brings vocabulary to the fine muscle control necessary for higher speed. Give your future self a gift you’ll never regret: time with yourself.
    Lastly, everyone should watch Dawn’s lengthy video chat on “the wobbles”. It’s a favorite I look forward to watching many times.

    Take those pads off you are taking away the feel of the wheel. Ride your euc stock especially a v8 so you can just learn fundamentals of your balance. The worst thing you can do when first riding is to have your self locked in, you need to be able hop or slide without resistance.
