- As a rider of Onewheels falls are inevitable, but with a little bit of Knowledge, experience, and a bit of luck 1 can accomplish this gracefully. or perhaps run it out. Which is what Ive managed to accomplish after 5 falls and this time I even got to film it. Thank god and Jake Leary for no trip to the hospital.
When you said "To This Day," that meme popped into my head! 🤣🤣
“To this day” 🤣😂
I went down once. Was headed home with my wife on a small road coming up to a major road. As I was coming up to the crossroad I can see both ways there were no cars coming. So I gunned it. My weight plus the road went up sharp causing the board to nosedive. Went down, separated my shoulder. Didn't break anything but I was in pain for a while. Rehabbed my shoulder & got it almost back to normal. I really don't think there is anyway around going down. Everyone is going to do it at one time or another.
I had the same injury. Dislocated the shoulder pretty violently. Not fun at all. Shoulder is about 95 percent back to normal. Still get a weird pain here and there. I can see each fall I’ve gotten a little better. Still anything can happen. Especially if I’m not paying attention. If I’m aware I’m golden but we now how comfortable we get and it goes down pretty fast. Thanks for watching my friend. Glad you healed up!!
Good content.love ya bro!
My fall was similar bro. Back in my first couple hundred miles taking off too fast at an incline. Had my left wrist & left arm fractured almost. Was a really bad sprain. I was fortunate no broken bones but dam ill always remember that because from then on I learned how to accelerate by leaning with with my hips & balancing my weight in the center & lessen my weight in the front🤙...actually happy it happened because at that time my confidence was just too high lol I needed to be humbled & now I push her in my limits & can still cruise at 23mph & know im good . Everyone has their own ride preferences but I love to chase speed but atleast now I do it padded up & with the right method 😌🤘
Hey thanks again having coffee and watching
From downunder
7:53 nice run off 👍👍, another good honest video
FM boards get jealous! I’ve never fell on my GT after 2400miles. The day I got my FloatWheel my GT dumped me. I remember the nose hitting and that’s it. It was lights out for a couple minutes and then a concussion for 2 weeks. Now that you’re planning on getting an EUC get ready to go down!!!
I have a few good falls under my belt. The worst one was pushing the pint to its limits- I was doing about 20mph and the board died. Loss of all power! The nose hit the ground so hard it made me do a flip. A real flip! My legs were pointed at the sky at one point, and I ended up landing on my butt. While I flipped I remember my scalp scraping the asphalt a little. The absolute worst crash was doing it again with no flip and shooting my body directly towards to ground - landing on my shoudler. 100% impact on any body part will do real damage, but if you can spread the impact over your whole body- you're better off for it
20 on a pint 😮 you surpassed the limit. I can picture your crashes. You know exactly what I mean when it say it happens so fast but in slow motion. Literally talking to yourself and seeing it all pass in front of your eyes. It’s nice to have been through but not when it’s happening 😂 glad you made it through my friend!!
@@therealbergexperience5640 Yea it happens faster than you can blink. I think the falling part turns into slow mo. Also if you're ever feeling adventurous- you can go faster by carving. When you're at higher speeds you get a little bit of that push back, but by carving at those high speeds it resets the pushback. So with enough carves you'll see what I mean, but I think we both know what happens then ....
Just put in an order for a GT yesterday and I see this in my recommended today.... is this a sign? haha!
Nope… I have had my board for over a year no falls I always wear wrist guards and a helmet. Age 53.
i ate shit *on the street* once... was getting home from school, and the first stretch of road is part of the old town and is quite bumpy. hit a divet in the road and the board couldnt handle it, almost recovered, but overcorrected and lost it. thankfully no cars were right behind me but the ones who were there just passed me without a care in the world :)
Did you ever hear or feel the haptic feedback during these falls?
That transition was hilarious- when your family came in and you said 'that's the end of that video' and then you come back on and it's dark outside. That transition had a lot of pretty funny, subtle humor to it
Flight Fins have enabled me to feel and save a lot of those times the board is a little overpowered
Great subject! As you know I survived a 31 mph fall 3 weeks ago and it was gnarly! As they say, "Dress for the slide, not the ride! No matter how skilled you are, you will fall! 24 years of skateboarding and I was not prepared! Moral or the story, wear your PPE!
Most definitely. It wasn’t the long ago. Between you and my buddy The Humble Savage, you’ll have the record. He hit doing 33 and jumped up like ain’t shit happened. 😮
@@therealbergexperience5640 I couldn't believe he got back up and kept riding! Certified Savage! Glad your good from your wrecks.
@@Magic_sk8board_media yessir. You as well my friend 🤙🏾
indeed. a lil too much acceleration on that incline #GTgang
Was the nosedive on the bridge approach after the haptic buzz update? If so did it buzz to warn you?
No update. No haptic buzz. It was the acceleration going up hill. I punched on it a little too fast a paid the price. Not to bad though. It happened fast but I could see it slow motion. Literally was telling myself to run fast until I caught myself. Thank goodness 😅
@@therealbergexperience5640 Glad your safe. Good to hear.
@@oldretireddude Thank you my friend!!
I just had my first real nosedive bail on pavement 2 days ago. User error- I was exhausted, and casually went up a hill while leaning too far into it. By the time haptic buzz kicked in I was already clearly aware that I was in trouble. I had to run it out and then roll but my shoulder and elbow got a harsh meeting with the pavement. The buzz might be better at lower speeds but at ~20km/h it made 0 difference because the whole incident happened in a fraction of a second.
These things seem redicuous. Iv just watched ur EUC unboxing and watching ur EUC practice vids. Dont give up. Watch all the different YT vids on how to learn. Ull get bummed, I almost gave up, but when it clicks, payoff is real.
I’ve watched a lot of videos. Some are hidden though. I would’ve never found the 1 you suggested had you not provided the link. I’m on it though. Watching videos and practice practice practice. Thank you again!!
I have broken my elbow, both wrists, and my hand. All on my GT lol Also all user error, had to learn to respect the board. No serious falls on the FW yet though, respect and running it out are the name of the game. Also, helmet and pads for serious trail rides.
I have fallen twice each time was not paying attention the worst one was a pothole at about 15 mph just scrap’s on knee elbow and butt
I’m a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and 15 years of practicing to fall is finally paying off for me! Lol
I really wouldn’t call this a fall. You ran it out like a champ. My worst one was hitting a pot hole in the dark and I flew forward sliding on my knees. Luckily I had pants on but the scrapes were still really bad.
How not to fall should just be “be a better rider”. You accelerated too fast up an incline at a high weight load on the board. Know your limits on the board is all you need to know, especially on a GT. Haven’t fallen off my GT yet (have fallen on other boards a ton because of rider error)
With your last fall, I'm surprised that your board didn't manage this incline. That could have turned out really badly.
