      Dear Sir,
I only became aware of Bret Weinsten and Heather Heying when they appeared on Real Time in January speaking about “The Lab Hypothesis”. A most eye-opening and enlightening conversation. It was only later when I looked for that episode on CZcams and read the comments, that their College travails came to light. Searching that subject led to seeing your attempts to put a face to this lunacy. This is very disturbing to see, no matter that I’m late to the game so to speak. I’m sorry that you’re having to keep this alive, but good on you for your diligence. This really needs to have the spark fanned or it will lose its impetus. It will become just another travesty that fades into the background in the face of newer ones.
This looks bad, and worst of all, it’s accelerating. Watching your three-part documentation of this is very difficult to do. It’s disturbing on just so many levels. Watching those attacked simply fold and kowtow to their attackers was shameful. I was heartened to see that one lady in this part stand up to them. It was a brave thing for her to do.
While people are obviously in some kind of danger, how is it that the president of the college is able to tell the police how to do their jobs? I can’t get my head around that. Were there any assault charges levied at all, to any of these students? Probably not.
I also watched your one on one interaction with Bret on his pod-cast afterwards. It was an impressive and coherent analysation of the events.
I think that Mr. Weinstein and Heather Heying are even-tempered and balanced intellectuals who grow more distinguished each time I see them speak.
You have accomplished an impressive piece of work…well done and thank you.

It's been a grift for many years that has been on the rise with the indoctrination of good white people that have met the radicalization of militant, black racists that have been cultivated in black culture for this very moment. The supply of racism against blacks is so low that they must manufacture it to keep the notion alive to continue receiving all the ill-gotten privilege that it produces. If they fail to reach the heights they feel entitled to, you'll see them immediately become a spokesman or a wokesman, e.g. Smollet, kaepernick, to salvage what little relevance is left there for them to shamelessly claim.

Bernays applied Uncle Siggy's psychology to corporate marketing and political propaganda, playing on emotion rather than dry facts.
In part 4 they show Tony Blair and Bill Clinton. Their team would do focus groups and surveys to find out what people thought they wanted. Then the next speech would be promising them what they asked for, a dysfunctional feedback loop.
There was no more time for bold it wise statesmanship.

But the truth is that most people bow down, they kneel, given enough social pressure. And they'll join in with all sorts of atrocities, given an even greater amount of social pressure.
That is, in a totalitarian society, you're more than likely to be an accomplice to whatever crimes that society carries out, than to have the moral fortitude to stand against the tide no matter the costs. The movements that lead down those dark paths are very good at using this flaw in the human psyche.

    • @nulltheworm
      @nulltheworm Před 3 lety +46

@@davenportsimon Fundamentally we're talking about authoritarian socialism, which is to say fascism and state socialism. The fascists (e.g., the Nazis) would have typically used physical bullying and direct violent to suppress their opposition. The state socialists would typically use social-shaming tactics. The Maoist revolution that took over China used what are called "struggle sessions." Woke "cancel culture" is the modern, Western equivalent of that.
As far as understanding what is meant by "struggle sessions," consider the public shaming by the students of the faculty and administration in this series of videos. Or look at the screaming harassment and insults against police, city politicians, and bystanders at Black Lives Matter protests. The point is to humiliate and silence the opposition into submission. And then, once the opposition is broken, to continually pressure and berate them into carrying out your agenda. We're seeing this happening beyond the campus of Evergreen now. It's spreading rapidly through the high tech industry and the mainstream media. But that's fundamentally what is terrifying about these videos. You see how the professors and faculty are first silent, then comply, then start championing the cause of the outraged mob?
Marxism is of course behind it. But that doesn't tell the full story. You have concepts like "critical theory" utilizing racial divide (anti-racism) to slip Marxism in through the back door. James Lindsay is doing exceptional work in both exposing and campaigning against it. But right now, the tide is rising behind *them*, not 'us'. See James' site: newdiscourses.com/
As far as what it looked like in the time of the Chinese Cultural Revolution: The Frank Dikotter series of books are fantastic, especially:
The Tragedy of Liberation: A History of the Chinese Revolution, 1945-1957
Mao's Great Famine: The History of China's Most Devastating Catastrophe, 1958-1962
      The Cultural Revolution: A People's History, 1962-1976
If you're not ready for a detailed history and exploration of the Maoist revolution, consider *We have been harmonised* by Kai Strittmatter. It is an incredible -- but terrifying -- look into the modern "cancel culture" and tech censorship battering down free expression within China today. And we're seeing it leaking all over the Anglo world right now, in real time.

@@loufher284- I knew someone in high school who was like this, in the late 1980s. He even had the dyed hair. He befriended me. We seemed to get along fine for a while, though the longer I knew him, I got the sense there was something creepy about him. He wrote a paper for English class where he talked about manipulating the adults around him when he was a little kid. Then he befriended another friend of mine, and started turning us against each other. He seemed to do it for fun. I broke it off with him after that. He was a liar, and had a poisonous personality. Little did I know that people like him would grow in number to become a threat to the very stability of our society. I certainly didn't anticipate that the adults who would ultimately take over responsibility for our institutions would actively cooperate with this type of personality. That to me is the scary part. The guy you're talking about at Evergreen had little to defend him, because the campus police were told by the administration to stand down while all of this was going on. It was a conscious decision, to allow the chaos and intimidation. The board of Evergreen State College gave their stamp of approval to this as well. Unconscionable.
I used to wonder when I saw this stuff going down, like some other commenters, "What are these people going to do when they get out in the real world?" After seeing this, I stopped wondering, and thought, "Wait a minute. I don't know that they are going to have to deal with what we call 'the real world', because what that's really asking is, 'People aren't going to put up with this. How are they going to deal with that?' I'm getting the impression we are the ones who are going to have to deal with the world they create, because nobody's stopping them. They're making the demands, and the adults who are supposed to be in charge are acquiescing, with rare exceptions. As in the case of Evergreen, sometimes it's a set-up. The adults and the young folk work together to create chaos, and drive out anyone who isn't on the same page.

Look. Racism is alive and well in this country. I am white and I see it. I can't fucking believe it with this "you disagree so you must be white and racist and not know it" shit.
Has it occurred to you that maybe the students felt uncomfortable be ajse they were not doing well in school? And that MAYBE they were not doing well because either they had gone to bad schools and/or had not put on the work for classes.
BLM matters be ajse black lives have been treated as if they DON'T matter. It does not mean that everyintwnce of a black person treated unfairly is racist
People are angry be ajse of George Floyd be ajse if he had been white, he would not have been treated that way, most likely.
With Michael Brown, same thing. All of it
Do you actually think if the student leaders at Evergreen had been white they would have been allowed to behave that way? Do you think that if white students had demanded to be excused from doing homework - as Black Evergreen protestors asked - that request would have been followed?
Naima Lowe, Rashida Love, etc. we're positing that the reason why the students should not have to explain the racism they experienced was because it is here, all the time.
Bit maybe, just maybe, some of the Black students were treated badly be ajse they didn't do the work, did not know how to do the work, and if they were white, they would have been treated the same way
Why the fuck not ask that question? You know when there is racism because you know that as a white person you would not be treated as that Black person had. That shit goes in reverse as well
And also. If you watched all of the coverage, most of the PoC students did. Not. Agree. I don't know any Black person who disagrees with the concept of BLM, just its tactics. This is not the case with Eveegreen

I was shocked at how the classes were taught, and practically begged many of my professors to actually TEACH the subject that they were supposedly teaching us. I actually asked one photography teacher to teach me photography. His literal response was “You can read the manual that came with your camera. I’m here to teach you to make ART.” Pretty much every class I took at that university was like that. It was all theory and student driven discussion about the students experiences. No actual practical learning. Thank GOD I had gotten the basics at that community college. I thank fate every day that I had screwed up in high school and didn’t have good enough grades to get accepted right into a “good college” or I would NOT have that foundation and those skills

An angry mob of entitled little kids, emboldened by the very people that are supposed to teach them. A bunch of nasty little thugs, using the trojan horse of "inclusivity" and "equity" to gang up on and bully others. A generation of spoiled, immature little scrotes who would have benefited from hearing the word "no" from their parents growing up.
They harp on and on about racism and discrimination, yet I don't think that any of them on even a single occasion cited any specific incidence of racism or discrimination. They harp on and on about how their "bodies are on the line", yet they attend probably the most liberal university in the western world, far away from the city in rural Washington. It's pretty much the definition of a "safe space". Just mind-bending.

The truth of white privilege, and particularly "cis, straight, white, male" privilege is that you don't ever think that it's someone else's fault for you not achieving something, for getting the job, for getting the promotion, etc. So the privilege of being a cis, straight, white, male is that your only choice is to believe that it's your fault and you just go and get better. The disadvantage of constantly being told that the world is racist, sexist, transphobic, etc when you are black, trans, a woman, etc, is that you have no reason to get better, it's the person standing in your way that has to change.

Absolutely. Bret Weinstein was a part of that even if in a small way. He still sees things in their favor, he just thinks because his ancestors were oppressed that he should be included. If he had been accepted I believe he’d still be there a part of this. He admits it. All the time. Typical leftist think; I’m oppressed too, we deserve more because of it.
They want to call it equality. Equality of opportunity is good. Equality of outcome is horrid.

They are always claiming that they are being hunted, but the first thing they do when encountering police is to become belligerent, combative, disrespectful; perhaps, even try to kill the officer. Regardless of any mistakes, possession of weapons, or misconduct of the black, they are always an unarmed black child. Time to burn down the town and make whitey pay for this.
