  • "Hello, health pioneers, and welcome back to Carnivore Nation! Today, we're exploring an exciting topic that could revolutionise your approach to nutrition and wellness: fat adaptation. If you're new to the concept or curious about why fat is a superior source of fuel for the body compared to glucose, this video is tailor-made for you!
    In this comprehensive guide, we’ll uncover the science behind fat adaptation, and why fats are better for sustaining energy without triggering insulin release. Learn how a diet high in healthy fats, typical in the carnivore diet, leads to the production of ketones by the liver. These ketones are not just an alternative energy source; they are actually preferred by key organs like the brain for optimal function.
    We’ll also discuss the numerous benefits of being fat-adapted, from enhanced mental clarity and sustained energy levels to improved metabolic health and beyond. Whether you're looking to improve your cognitive function, manage your weight, or just feel better throughout the day, understanding how to harness the power of fats over glucose could be a game changer.

    Thanks 🙏 I’ve just started the Carnivore diet after doing Ketovore for 18 months except cheating with alcohol and sometimes carbs ‘ it worked until I started alcohol again and in 10 months I’ve gained 9 out of the 18 kilos I lost! Dr Ken Berry and many others have convinced me to quit alcohol, start power walks and soft work out at the gym and go full Carnivore 😊

      We all have individual chemistry make up, therefore, there is no fixed rules, but the basic principals can apply and then we monitor the variances and how it impacts on us individually.
      Staying away from alcohol for a while will allow the liver to focus on the ketone production which will lead to stored fat reduction, otherwise, allowing alcohol will distract the liver to dispose of the toxic alcohol as a priority.
      That fact you have been on ketovore should help with your transition being less reactive

    Thanks for explaining this so well, I have 1 question though. Is it safe and healthy to go for the rest of my life without ever consuming carbohydrates? I've done keto and carnivore before for months at a time but I always end up returning to carbs as I'm being led to believe that I need them from people like Saladino for example. However I prefer the way I feel when I'm in ketosis, can I stay in ketosis forever and be healthy? Thanks in advance.

      That is the million dollar question. I’m not scientifically or medically qualified to answer that question directly, however, there are a growing number of low / zero carb people who have maintained this lifestyle for numerous years, including the ranch lady who is in her 80s having been 40+ years on this lifestyle and still very active. Kerry of Howstead How did a video with her on his channel, incredible lady!!
      What you have to understand no two people are alike (unless your an identical twin) but in general terms we are all different with different chemical / biological make ups so there isn’t a one lifestyle fits all.
      I work on the basis that I listen to my body and as long as it’s happy with this lifestyle, then I am.
      I have said many times before there are no carnivore police so if you want to mix it up every now and then it’s not a crime.
      For me, my opinion, not advice! Is if this lifestyle works then there is no reason why not to remain on it!

    In the absence of exogenous carbs though, the Liver will increase indogenous carb production via Gluconeogenesis, making fat adaption more difficult to attain?

    • @CarnivoreNation
      @CarnivoreNation  Před 14 dny

      Thank you for your contribution. If there are no carbs available, the body will turn to the fat stores and the liver will convert the stored fat to ketones to fuel
      The body.

    • @jamesjones7138
      @jamesjones7138 Před 14 dny +1

      @@CarnivoreNation So does that mean Gluconeogenesis has to be bypassed to start the process you mention in your reply?

    • @CarnivoreNation
      @CarnivoreNation  Před 14 dny

      @@jamesjones7138 firstly I am not a medical or science expert, however I am studying for a PhD around this subject (only in the first year of study).
      In your first comment, you mentioned the liver would start carb production, however the liver doesn’t produce carbs, it converts carbs/fats or when necessary protein to ketones to fuel the body.
      If the body is deplete of carbs (as in low carb/no carb diet) then when the body requires energy, it will convert either fat in the blood system or stored in the liver or fat cells to ketones.

    • @CarnivoreNation
      @CarnivoreNation  Před 14 dny

      @@jamesjones7138 I have just read back your comment, I may have misunderstood your question.
      If there is glucose in the blood stream the liver will always priorities that to create energy as it’s toxic to the body.
      In the case where glucose is in deficient ie low carb diet then the liver will turn to fat to convert to ketones and only if both glucose and fat are missing then the body will turn on protein (muscle tissue) to generate energy as its survival process.
      I hope I have managed to answer you question correctly?

    Saturated fats are bad for you

      Thank you for your comment.
      There is growing evidence that fat is in fact better for your body than carbs!
      If you look at other posts I have published you will find reasons why the ‘old’ science was wrong and influenced by sponsors with clear conflicts of interest. New science is now showing that fat is in fact an essential ingredient for the body and the ‘low’ fat diets are the major factor to the growth in obesity, diabetes and dementia.
      Facts don’t lie and animal fats are good.
