Reports that 23 Chinese swimmers had failed drug testing weeks before the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and were allowed to compete anyway, have sparked a major row within the sport. The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) said it was aware of the incident and accepted China’s explanation that the tests had been contaminated. But anti-doping officials in the United States have accused Wada of a cover-up.

Like the Russian, Chinese 🇨🇳 athletes have been using State-sponsored doping! They got caught many times, the most in the swimming team.
Government doctors gave proscribed them with banned *heart medication trimetazidine,* same drug that was used by Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.

Shame on you, SCMP editors, for acting as part of an influence campaign instead of acting as journalist after the truth. I sy this after digging around the news and public information to find out more about this incident and also WADA's (the world anti doping agency) official statements and explanations on their ruling to clear the athletes back in 2021 -
the intention of this SCMP reporting is laid bare, it is aimed at sowing distrust and doubt against the Chinese, instead of the proper journalistic duty of inviting audiences to examine the issue -
whats clear is that this reporting here is its lopsided reporting in wholly pushing and presenting the accusations, but on the other hanf cherry picked sections of WADA's report ti make it seem to hint of a cover up , without telling audiences of the full context of WADA's ruling and the rationalr in the decision to pass the Chinese athletes after their investigation....
its a shame SCMP if you aren't after the truth, but instead acting as part if the influence campaign to sow doubt

Missing from the accusations is mention of the dose of the drug or if the amount detected in the athletes in any way constitute doping or would have been construed in an attempt at doping (e.g. effective does taken the day before a competitive event), hence at this stage, the way these "investigators journalists" from the Guardian, WSJ, etc are revisiting this incident, and the wording of their articles, can't escape the perception that these journalists are clutching a straws to sow doubt. I feel while the official investigation is based on facts with the investigation laid out for all to see, the accusations made by the reporters reads to me as speculative as they did not even lay out the details of the official investigation, the contexts, and most importantly if there was even room for misuse of the drugs (an examination of the actual dose found in the athletes and the timing of the detection of drugs would have given anyone sufficient grounds to decide if it's accidental consumption vs intentional doping.

No surprise there, SCMP still longs for it's former master's Empire's rule This is it's way of overcoming this longing by ingratiating itself with it's former master's master.... the incumbent hegemonic Empire of Lies with slanted & biased report of it's new master and reports that replicates the western narratives & agenda if not propaganda, Even though it's based in HK, China and shamelessly carries the "C" in its name, it is anything but about that "C". If one were to look at SCMP history's of reporting during the colonial days , it would have come all out to defend it's former 'Yinglish' master if the same were to happen to them.

The same thing happened years ago with the swimming team, that time they said it was natural Chinese medicine. Then when two Chinese women athletes suddenly broke distance records they wouldn’t allow independent investigators into China .

her teamate who refused to get on the podium with the Chinese swimmer was all about trying to help out the girl.. nothing about acknowledging her cheating.. THAT’S THE BS.. whites defending whites and condeming Chinese swimmer as cheats even though he never tested positive..

They will arrive, in most instances, on two wheels. And such is their enthusiasm for the sport that they will park in ways to demonstrate their allegiance: the Honda honchos will line up in one car park, the Ducati dudes in another while, presumably, those on Kawasakis keep themselves to themselves.

This season, however, there is a better excuse for attending the biggest gathering for a sporting event this year: the best practitioners in the sport are British. Last weekend, for instance, the winners' podium at a race at Oschersleben in Germany was entirely occupied by riders from these shores, a one-two-three of James Toseland, Neil Hodgson and Chris Walker. Second is a very unusual position for Hodgson to find himself in. At the end of the other nine races this season he has been on the top step of the podium.
