Pakistan is not a export economy nor it has a robust tourism economy. in contrast sri lanka was a major stop in sea trade for a millenias even the oldest known ship wreck is found in godwaya which is right next to hambantota harbour.
main objective of CPEC is enhancing pak infrastructure to relocate labour intensive industries in china. unfortunately precarious security issues hinder the progress of the project.

All workers and equipment came from China . Chinese dumped all their OLD Power Plants onto Pakistan that only run on IMPORTED Coal and LNG signed 30 years agreement to buy electricity. A total of 46000 MW was installed while Pakistan transmission capacity is only 20000mw . so more than half of the capacity stays idle BUT pakistan still has to pay CAPACITY CHARGES . Chinese they sure know how to sign a good deal 😂🤣😅

To utilise port, you need cargo. Pakistan doesn't produce much to export and generate money to import.
Same thinking ,, i don't understand why they even need such port in first place. They could demand other things from China like infrastructure aid every year and educational aid as well or some special rights that allows Pakistanis to travel to China without any visa ... Pakistan were not producing that much of a thing but still want a port for them. Well , i know it's a necessary thing but they could have done this thing by themselves by firstly educate their population properly and actually using those Aids for good use.
