- DIY Modern Framed Floor Mirror! This Maker Gray tutorial shows how I made an industrial metal and wood frame for a mirror that I bought. Hands down one of my most favorite projects. The build was easier than I expected and the results are even better than I expected! Overall this was an inexpensive project with results that look much more expensive. The mirror I used came from a local mirror and glass shop. I had them cut a mirror to the size I wanted. But you could use any rectangular or square mirror for this project.

Finally! A person who knows they're doing and a tutorial i can trust!!! Awesome job! Looks beautiful!
Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
Where did you buy the actual mirror from
Very innovative and useful. I've already started building one just like this one. Thanks for the idea though.
@MakerGary , Wow !! This DIY mirror work was really simple and elegant .
Thank you!
You can do anything with the right tools 😊
Nice job. I just started one yesterday for a Christmas gift for my wife.
That's great! She's going to love it. I'd love to see the finished piece when you're done.
Girl, you won me over when I watched your video of you putting up that fence and saving over 12,000 dollars. I subscribed then went on to watch this video. I am truly impressed. New sub here
Awesome! Thank you and welcome!
Thanks so much
Cool project. I would have painted the wood parts but always a preference 10/10
Thank you sooo much you are awesome
Really cool!! Thx for the tutorial !!!
So glad you liked it!
I love it!
Thanks for the video, like a number of people on youtube, Your video showed up at the perfect time. I've been wanting a full length mirror for some time and yours is simple and elegant. I really like it. mine will be somewhat different with the steel more exposed and maybe treated with rust or something. With the wood frame all the way around. If I remember I'll send a photo when finished. I would like to see like to see you put a lot more videos as you have a lot of talent. Next I'm subscribing.
This is great! I'd really love to see a photo when you are finished. Much more content coming from me. Stay tuned and thanks!
AH-MAZING! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
Awesome result! Looking to make this for my wife. I just scored a cheap mirror and going to go get the supplies. Any idea what time commitment this entails? Do I need to clear out an entire afternoon for this or even longer?
Awesome! I bet she'll LOVE it! I'd say you could probably knock it out in an afternoon, depending on how fast you work. Took me longer because I filmed it.
Great design and awesome result!!
Thank you! 😄
Who tought you all of this? You are the girl!😍 New subbie btw
Thanks so much! I learned from CZcams :)
wonderful...
Nice idea, thank you, can you please give some more information about wall mounting the same my mirror size is 3 x 5 feet
This is badass....
Thanks so much! I agree
Nice.
Great tutorial, loos gorgeous. Off topic, I love your floors😍. Do you mind sharing what color and brand they are?
Thank you! And I'd love to share the details with you but I cannot remember sadly. And we've since moved from that home. I can tell you they were laminate and came from Lumber Liquidators!
What is the best way to avoid slipping of the mirror?
Do you mean slipping from the frame? The grooves (dados) cut into the wood hold it securely in place. And this purchase from Amazon keeps the whole thing from tipping away from the wall: goo.gl/sesnGp
👍👍
Nice Job sister love your video
Thank you!
How are you sister ?
brb, gonna go make my $750 mirror!
Was the metal an aesthetic or functional choice? I'm wondering if I could use aluminum sides instead...
Hmm. I bet you could get away with thick aluminum! Mine was more of an aesthetic choice.
Wow
How much does the mirror cost and where did you buy it?
How to make sure it's stable, and won't fall, what are the measures to be taken? Thanks, cheers, splendid job
Thanks! I used an anti tip kit. I have a link for it in the description of the video.
@@MakerGray Thanks a lot, dear
What’s the best way to stop the mirror slipping or falling over? Thanks 🙏🏻
I ordered this anti-tip kit from Amazon to ensure this mirror doesn't fall: goo.gl/sesnGp
Maker Gray thank you!
Sis I loveddddd this diy! What was the total cost for this project?
Misha Brie Thank you so much! The biggest cost was the mirror. I got it custom cut from a local glass shop for $150. But honestly you could buy a less expensive one from Ikea or a thrift store and up cycle the mirror into this project. The metal was about $30 and the wood was about $15. So roughy $200 total :)
thank you so much! I really appreciate it
How did you install the anti tip kit
It screws into the back side of the mirror into the wood. It has a small chain that reaches to the wall and then screws into a stud in the wall. Super easy!
How thick was the mirror you used 4mm or 5mm
I wish you were my friend

Where did you get the mirror
I have that info in the video description for you
How is this dIY. Who has all the tools 🛠?
You did a great job but it's not a full length mirror. You got the wood on top and the wood at the bottom. I want a full length

Please leave a total cost per project on your videos. That would help a lot.
How would it help a lot?
She posted this in May of 2018. Literally NOTHING would be the same when you watched this in March of 2022 🙄
Material prices are influenced by so many different things. If materials are being repurposed vs purchased new, or if you already have lumber from existing projects. Purchasing a mirror from a second hand shop vs new. Even new- are you buying from a glass shop, a specialty home decor store, or walmart? The answer will make for a huge difference in price. Steel is expensive these days. But you CAN find it second hand. If you’re metal worker you may have some laying around. Prices will vary on that too, and have a strong likelihood of changing with the economy.
It’s not difficult to look up the prices of lumber and metal at your local lowes/home depot or hardware store. And similarly- if you want a specific size of mirror, call your local glass shop.
Even if she had posted prices, they aren’t going to be the same for you when you watch the video 4 years later.
Plus, region largely affects prices of materials. Just because she pays a certain amount for something in her area, there’s no reason to expect that the items would cost the same for you.
Please do your own research if you need the approx expense of a project. EVERYTHING is subjective and if she had given a price of $10 for lumber and then you went and bought similar lumber 4 years later. You’d be in these comments complaining about how it cost YOU $26 but she said $10.
@@nicholem4831 good point but it would still be a good baseline.
