    Loooove this new series! I appreciate that you're taking time to build quality pieces that will last too. Sometimes the "designer dupe" videos have really cool looking results but I am skeptical of how well they'll actually hold up.
    Also cutting glass is one of my favorite things in the world. It's so satisfying... But cutting that huge mirror would have made me have a heart attack haha

  • @kahinoart
    @kahinoart Před 3 lety +3

    Thanks. i really enjoyed the start to this series. One tip for the gold paint lovers: Traditionally gold leaf was placed over a red painted surface. If you paint gold over red, the gold feels more metallic, vibrant and real. This is especially true if you are brush painting it on. If you are going for a silver look, paint the silver over a dark cyan blue.

  • @xingcat

    These are great! Re: Painting both sides of things. I love to paint sets for local, amateur productions of theater shows (back when we had theater in person) and I often get poked fun at for painting well beyond the sight lines, but I always assume it's better to be safe than sorry, especially if the set designer changes their mind halfway through a build. (To be honest, the set designer is often me, and I'm notorious for changing my mind). I love these.

    Edit: Having seen the cost now, I think I’d go Ikea even if I had the tools - it would cost a third of the third 😂 And for the Arch mirror - Zara, Dunelm and Wayfair 👌🏽

    I have been thinking about the first mirror for months, it is pinned all over my Pinterest! I was contemplating diying my Ikea Hovet mirror to look like it because the frame of the Hovet mirror is aluminum that I spray painted black, and all I would need to do is add the wood piece to the top and bottom. I think your creation looks 1000 times better but the Ikea idea could be a more budget-friendly but lesser quality hack!

    They both turned out fantastically. I think I might favor the rectangle over the arch, I like the dark wood on the top and bottom. I knew you were in the middle of moving when I noticed your art gallery was not on the wall! I wouldn't do either of these not just because I don't have the tools, but because I have two floor length mirrors already....Can't wait to see the new house, two weeks is a long time to wait.

    I actually prefer the MDF frame over a metal frame. Both mirrors are absolutely beautiful. Great job. Wishing you a smooth and happy move. I always pre plan what will go in each kitchen and bathroom cabinet. I label each box with the cabinet name or number, so unpacking is easy.

    I love it! I would love to see more videos like this! I really enjoy DIY’s but don’t always need things to be made the absolute cheapest possible; quality made but don’t want to break the bank. Plus I appreciate that you explain tools in a non condescending way, making it accessible to those of us who don’t have as much experience. Thanks Danie!

    I loved the first one!! And thank you for making quality dupes. So many other you tubers diy expensive things but the quality is is not nearly what my perfectionist personality could bear... Which then puts me off trying to dupe the thing myself.
    And thanks for the diy tips on the jigsaw blades! It's great to be able to learn actual skills and tips to help with our own projects. Love your channel!!
