Probably the Onigashima Ancient Giant was the one that pulled the islands to make Wano the fortress that It is today. They were allies of the AK and helped to keep Wano protected from the WG
I think Oda confirmed that most of the Beast Pirate characters horns are accessories. I think the number of legit horns comes from the devil fruits usually, so ones who have as being oni is probably really really small.

Kaido seems to look down on humans. That would explain why he didn't kill Moria but just his whole crew, kaido didn't want to murder another oni because there are just a few like them left in the OP world
That actually makes more sense than Moriah escaping from the world's strongest beast. There's too much to see about Kaido yet but that could be great for his character, refusing to break his people.

Im and Joyboy were both pirates and they seeked freedom, later on they managed to ally with the 20 human kingdoms and they fought against these races and when they finally won, Im wanted revenge for humans so established the celestial dragons rule and the extermination of the ancient races, however Joyboy and the nefetari family found it to be excessive, and so they fought with each other, Joyboy later finding allies to his cause with some human kingdoms and ancient races, however he was defeated so he created the poneglyphs and one piece to carry on his will. His descendants carry his will to this day.

There's a reason that Oda goes out of his way to avoid having to address the horribly messed up nature of Totto Land, because it's even more messed up that the stuff he does show. Such as how she has no qualms with raping people if they don't agree, or how the vast majority of the time she has spent conquering parts of thr grand line by fighting were done while she was with child. Hell, since she's been introduced into the story may be the first time in decades when she hasn't been knocked up, and she's vocalized how she's aiming for King's baby juice. Yeah. It's best not to think about it.
So if the Red Line is “the land of the gods” and that’s where the Lunarians (spelling?) are from then what if god’s valley is where they were sent to? What if they made some deal with the WG and resided in God’s valley (promptly named as it is below the land of the gods therefore being their “valley”) until the gods valley incident? Explains why King is alive today and why they weren’t wiped out centuries ago. Also it makes the name gods valley almost seem like an insult 🤷🏼♀️

I definitely think the Oni race and the “Ancient Giant tribe” are one in the same. It’s not like some new fantasy race we’re just now being introduced to. There are a number of things that _strongly_ imply they are the same. Most notably is the designs of the Numbers which are very similar to Oars. The thing is if Kaido and Yamato are from the same race as Oars why are they so small? There must be a generational gap between them and Kaido’s Oni ancestors. There aren’t many ancient giants around anymore (hence why the WG is trying to “revive them”), so it would make sense Kaido is not 100% Oni.
I'd say that kaido oni race have been "humanized" Seeing them make offspring with a human thus making them more human sized so does their skin color resembling human more
You might be on to something here, at first I thought maybe the Ancient Giants were the common ancestors to both the smaller Onis like Kaido/Ulti and modern Giants, and that a split happened within the AGs descendants making those races distinct, but (admittedly using irl logic) this is really unlikely given how recently Ancient Giants were prominent and also the fact that we still see quite a few of them around. Even Oars' era, 500 years ago, is no where near enough time for two races to evolve and split off from the AGs unless Oda explicitly decides this works completely differently in One Piece.
I think that most if not all onis alive in the one piece world are part human some more than others and that’s why they look more human like and that’s why they aren’t all completely massive like oars or little oars jr.
Who’s Who and Sasaki’s horns are literally a part of their outfits Morj, and the ones Page One/Ulti wear look the same as the costume ones Luffy had on before. Pizarro and Jack’s also seem to be some sort of implant. It seems like how Oars Jr’s crew all dressed up like him, with fake hair and jaws with sharp teeth.
Man, Morj really slaps me with some info i never would've thought about, i just brushed off the three eyed tribe from being that important but you do have a good point regarding all three of the races.
The easiest explanation for the great variance in size would simply be that the ancient giants are a race that start small(ish) and have extreme longevity where they keep growing as time goes on. The normal giants already live some 300 years. Maybe the horned giants can live up to the scale of Zunisha and simply achieve sexual maturity early. Maybe their society was full of normal giants sized dudes and the oldest members would leave to roam the seas once they outgrew their home. After all, it wouldn't make any sense even in One Piece terms for there to be an island full of people with heads the soze of Onigashima.
I might be misremembering but did Oda not say in a pretty recent SBS that a lot of those in Kaido's crew with horns are actually just wearing them as fashion accessories?
I just want to point out 2 things: 1) the term “ancient giant” is not that tribe’s *true* name. That would be like the “ancient Egyptians” or “ancient Greeks” calling themselves that, it wouldn’t make any sense. It’s most likely a colloquial one given to them by people in the present era, so Big Mom calling them that rather than Oni is by no means an instance of them being differentiated. 2) 4+ of the Numbers were given names (presumably by Vegapunk) that contain the character for “oni” (Jaki = Fourth Oni, Goki = Fifth Oni, and so on). That *really* weird if there’s no relation between them and the Oni, otherwise their names would include the word for *giant* somewhere (kyojin). Those names are presumably ones they were given to classify them as test subjects after all. I think this pretty strongly implies that Oni is the real name of the Ancient Giant tribe, which has been lost to history but is still remembered by Kaido and some people who have met him (and while we’re at it, maybe the same lineage factor sample that was used to make Momo’s fruit was what Vegapunk used to create the Numbers)

It was already revealed that they’re subjects in an experiment on Punk Hazard to recreate the ancient giant race. Kaido can impossibly be a fullblood ancient giant because as far as we know they died because of Frostbite in the Land of Ice 500y ago. I’m still shocked how the hell Oars jr. existed though. The height difference between Kaido & Oars is too big also look at their teeth & jaw in general body-structure.

When I heard a lunarian be called a race of gods it reminded me of Enels absolute religious belief he was a God. He made it to the moon and learned the truth of his people. I really want to know what he learned and if king knows some of the same. Either way enel and the skypiea god system in general paralell the celestial dragons and the lunarians role. Rulers as Gods.
It makes me thiink of Game Of thrones. We had mighty and very tall dragons at valyria. Even the earliest dragons that comes to westeros were very huge. But overtime, infighting between targaryen and mistreatment of dragons lead to their collapse and the last dragon was as tall as a cat.

It's implied that the "Oni" race people are from Wano. Pizarro has yet to be named dropped in Wano. Also Pizarro's epithet is the Corrupt King. Black Maria, Yamato, Kaido & Moria are a case study. The Lunarian theory was so wild. They have no contextual clues. That's why I hate theories. The Lunarian can be an antithesis to Christian Biblical lore of Skye people. The Shandia have an Aztec thing going on. I don't know why the word "god" is always taken in an literal sense forgetting there's cultural histories.

Just a guess, but the name of giant whose skull is now the castle on onigashima, is probably called Ymir, the first giant in norse mythology, whose body was transformed into the world after being killed. As a side note, the skull of Ymir was turned into the sky in norse creation myth. Now compare that to where onigashima currently is in the story

One thing that suports the Oni’s and Ancient Giants as the same race is the fact that every younger Oni is smaller than older ones. Moriah and Kaido are from the same generation and are Huge for humans. Yamato, Ulti and Page One are also from the same generation, and are smaller compared to the older ones. Yamato is special in this discution since we know her father, and we know she is much smaller than himself. So if every generation of oni gets smaller, it makes sense that ancient oni would be huge, and so be called ancient giants. This would also explain onigashima, being the older ancient giant of all time. The only outlier here is Oars Junior, he is still huge.
Okay I have to ask now, because my little research did not bring up anything: Has Big Mom the species "Sky People" on her islands? I binge watched the WCI Arc and now people keep bringing up the issue with the 3 races, and I am very interested aswell - however I cannot remember seeing a Skypiean or Birkan or whatnow in Totto Land. Would you imply then that shirahoshi may be part lunarian or possess conqueror's haki if she is the incarnation of poseidon? Its also interesting to think about the gods in reference to what the weapons are. Pluton a god of death is a warship, Poseidon a god of the sea can control the sea kings, and Uranus was the god of sky/storm and father of titans. If it were a devil fruit an ability that could raise sea levels or control water would be in league above all the others. If it was something that could produce any kind of giant or people that would also be crazy strong.

Hey morj... not sure if you already covered this in a stream or a previous video but I would like to know your thoughts on what exactly the raid ending in failure means to you. When you first came up with your theory I felt spoiled which is why I didn't really enjoy clicking theories after the fact but as the story progressed I was more then happy to consider your theory as nothing more then a meme cuz..I mean it's funny lol but I'm now starting to consider another option. What if the alliance beats kaido and big mom but they were immediately overwhelmed and forced to flee by the alliance of the navy and the blackbeard pirates or even potentially the red hair pirates? In your eyes would that be considered ending in failure or victory given that they would still have to come back and rid wano of another potentially external force put in charge? Or would this be another reason to leave Yamato in Wano while they continued the journey to one piece which will eventually lead to the final war that will effectively free wano with the outcome? I know I typed a while bunch so you'll probably never read this not to mention you posted the video like 2 hours ago so I highly doubt you'll be back in the comments lol anyway I'll probably try to find a way to shorten this up and catch your next video much earlier but if you DO happen to read this would love to hear your thoughts on a comment or video if you find enough content out of this question... also sorry for bad grammar English no my first language...jk I just don't care enough it's fucking CZcams comment section 😅

Hey Morj, i love your videos! What about if the ancient giants and the oni are in fact the same thing but simply some Giants mated with normal humans and so the normal course of evolution brought them to reduce their size?
I feel like while the Ancient Giants and the Onis are almost definitely connected, I can't really get behind this "natural selection" idea. Feels a little too finicky for a shounen series. Another possibility is that the Onis are the result of crossbreeding with other races, and therefore gradually getting smaller. Like maybe a typical Oni nowadays is only 1/16 Ancient Giant or something. I also think that classifying all the Tobiroppo as Oni is a huge stretch. We already know that all of the Gifters' horns are fake, so I think it's reasonable to assume that most of the Tobiroppo's horns are as well. Sasaki is a Fishman so he probably isn't an Oni, plus his horns seem to clearly be part of his hat. Page One's horns also look like they're part of his hat, and if his are fake then his sister's probably are too. Based on coloration, Who's Who's horns are probably part of his headgear as well. The only Tobiroppo I think is likely an Oni is Black Maria, since her horns are clearly natural and she's huge.
Definitely think there is a connection between Oni and ancient giants. Though not sold on Moria and the like being Onis. Kaido's speech builds thing up like being an Oni is a big deal, would feel a little inconsistent since it was never a major plot point before with any of the characters people think might be Oni. I wouldn't be mad at it per say, but would feel like a story detail Oda decided to add in after the fact.
Only thing I can say that the 3 eye tribe wasn’t gods vally. Was the battle that took place there between rocks vs roger & garp. Since it’s mentioned they were protected celestial dragons from rocks. But maybe 🤷♂️ they both lived there.. either way odas got a lot of questions to answer before then end and I just can’t wait
the idea that's been on my head is that Kaido and a bunch of other humans were experimented on to develop into "Oni". It doesn't necessarily needs to be the marines or WG that did it, but it should be a group of humans. This fits thematically with past arcs having recurring plots of shadow labs and human experimentation (even Zou and WC have a bit of this, with the chemical weapons and soul tax). Queen gave a hint that it might be possible when he talked about Sanji's flames coming from Lunarian genes.
Did we ever get confirmation on what the shadows were in the Florian Triangle during the Thriller Bark arc? It is the first time we saw a ancient giant. But before there was the "giant" shadow hidden in the mists. What if this is were some are hidding.
Do you think that a previous user of Pudding's fruit could have been held by someone that was on the celestial dragons side and used it to wipe out the 100 years that no one seems to know about? Would be a way to get people to forget/alter their memories of the atrocities that happened in order for the celestial dragons to be known as gods to the rest of the world. Could be a potential awakening of Pudding's fruit to be able to alter memories on a mass scale rather than one person at a time.

I can't wait for Luffy himself to share his perspective on the World Government's history once we actually get to exploring it in more detail. His hunt for freedom has always been fairly self-centered, which is ok, but I hope that when we get to the "vs WG" stage of One Piece that Luffy will become a more proactive fighter for freedom of the world from the tyranny the Celestial Dragons have inflicted upon it
@@789blablajaja It would be unfortunate if even his final battle that would destroy the current world order would be because he just wanted to help a friend, and his unimaginable heroics of tyrant-slaying are just incidental. That's kind of my least favourite part of the formula One Piece operates on.
But thats what i like about Luffy. Its not necessary for him to care about the freedom of others because his own freedom naturally frees those who wish to follow his lead, whether it be pirates or entire nations.

I think Onis and Giants are different races, just check how the giants in big mom's flashback look like, they are much more human looking as well as the 2 giants the straw hats crew find in the alabasta arc. Oars is just a giant Oni. Being big or tall is not exclusive of giants in OP.
Not giants But Ancient Giants Normal giants are already relatively abundant in One Piece. In Pirates, in Marines, in Revolutionary army, etc. We already know multiple giant race characters in One Piece. Elbaf is the home of Giants. But here.... Morj is talking about Ancient Giants, who are only mentioned in One Piece. But never revealed as actual characters.

Ancient Giants have also been hyped in One Piece. And the Skull of Onigashima was freaking toooooooo huge. It makes Oars look like ants. While Oars already dwarfed the giants in the first place.
I just wanted to throw in that in the canon Vivre Cards, Oars Jr. and such are specifically stated to be of the race "Ancient Giant". I am not saying that this is or is not connected to Onis, simply saying that this term is straight out of the One Piece canon and not something youtubers just invented for big horny giants

I think you’re going a little too far assuming that everyone with a horn is an Oni lol. Take Dellinger from Dressrosa for example. He has horns very similar to an Oni, but it’s explained that he’s just half fighting fish. There are other explanations for having horns 😂 Great video regardless though

Punk hazard is connected to the oni/ancient giants race, the danger sign on the front door is an exact image of onigashima, and the 1st thing the strawhats saw on punk hazard was a melted giant skleton.
I'm convinced that Oni's and ancient giants are just different names for the same race. Ancient giants are known to be violent, warmongering drunkards by nature and only know how to solve things through violence and brute force. Oars was a warlord/conqueror, the numbers are wild drunks and now we have Kaido who wants to basically destroy the whole world and even tells Yamato that people like them can't ever coexist with humans peacefully, most likely due to the their conflicting nature.

I think Oda confirmed that most of the Beast Pirate characters horns are accessories. I think the number of legit horns comes from the devil fruits usually, so ones who have as being oni is probably really really small.

His descendants carry his will to this day.

I definitely think the Oni race and the “Ancient Giant tribe” are one in the same. It’s not like some new fantasy race we’re just now being introduced to. There are a number of things that _strongly_ imply they are the same. Most notably is the designs of the Numbers which are very similar to Oars.
The thing is if Kaido and Yamato are from the same race as Oars why are they so small? There must be a generational gap between them and Kaido’s Oni ancestors. There aren’t many ancient giants around anymore (hence why the WG is trying to “revive them”), so it would make sense Kaido is not 100% Oni.

You might be on to something here, at first I thought maybe the Ancient Giants were the common ancestors to both the smaller Onis like Kaido/Ulti and modern Giants, and that a split happened within the AGs descendants making those races distinct, but (admittedly using irl logic) this is really unlikely given how recently Ancient Giants were prominent and also the fact that we still see quite a few of them around. Even Oars' era, 500 years ago, is no where near enough time for two races to evolve and split off from the AGs unless Oda explicitly decides this works completely differently in One Piece.
I think that most if not all onis alive in the one piece world are part human some more than others and that’s why they look more human like and that’s why they aren’t all completely massive like oars or little oars jr.

Man, Morj really slaps me with some info i never would've thought about, i just brushed off the three eyed tribe from being that important but you do have a good point regarding all three of the races.
The easiest explanation for the great variance in size would simply be that the ancient giants are a race that start small(ish) and have extreme longevity where they keep growing as time goes on. The normal giants already live some 300 years. Maybe the horned giants can live up to the scale of Zunisha and simply achieve sexual maturity early. Maybe their society was full of normal giants sized dudes and the oldest members would leave to roam the seas once they outgrew their home. After all, it wouldn't make any sense even in One Piece terms for there to be an island full of people with heads the soze of Onigashima.

I just want to point out 2 things:
1) the term “ancient giant” is not that tribe’s *true* name. That would be like the “ancient Egyptians” or “ancient Greeks” calling themselves that, it wouldn’t make any sense. It’s most likely a colloquial one given to them by people in the present era, so Big Mom calling them that rather than Oni is by no means an instance of them being differentiated.
2) 4+ of the Numbers were given names (presumably by Vegapunk) that contain the character for “oni” (Jaki = Fourth Oni, Goki = Fifth Oni, and so on). That *really* weird if there’s no relation between them and the Oni, otherwise their names would include the word for *giant* somewhere (kyojin). Those names are presumably ones they were given to classify them as test subjects after all.
I think this pretty strongly implies that Oni is the real name of the Ancient Giant tribe, which has been lost to history but is still remembered by Kaido and some people who have met him (and while we’re at it, maybe the same lineage factor sample that was used to make Momo’s fruit was what Vegapunk used to create the Numbers)

Just a guess, but the name of giant whose skull is now the castle on onigashima, is probably called Ymir, the first giant in norse mythology, whose body was transformed into the world after being killed. As a side note, the skull of Ymir was turned into the sky in norse creation myth. Now compare that to where onigashima currently is in the story

One thing that suports the Oni’s and Ancient Giants as the same race is the fact that every younger Oni is smaller than older ones. Moriah and Kaido are from the same generation and are Huge for humans. Yamato, Ulti and Page One are also from the same generation, and are smaller compared to the older ones. Yamato is special in this discution since we know her father, and we know she is much smaller than himself. So if every generation of oni gets smaller, it makes sense that ancient oni would be huge, and so be called ancient giants. This would also explain onigashima, being the older ancient giant of all time. The only outlier here is Oars Junior, he is still huge.

Would you imply then that shirahoshi may be part lunarian or possess conqueror's haki if she is the incarnation of poseidon? Its also interesting to think about the gods in reference to what the weapons are. Pluton a god of death is a warship, Poseidon a god of the sea can control the sea kings, and Uranus was the god of sky/storm and father of titans. If it were a devil fruit an ability that could raise sea levels or control water would be in league above all the others. If it was something that could produce any kind of giant or people that would also be crazy strong.

Hey morj... not sure if you already covered this in a stream or a previous video but I would like to know your thoughts on what exactly the raid ending in failure means to you. When you first came up with your theory I felt spoiled which is why I didn't really enjoy clicking theories after the fact but as the story progressed I was more then happy to consider your theory as nothing more then a meme cuz..I mean it's funny lol but I'm now starting to consider another option. What if the alliance beats kaido and big mom but they were immediately overwhelmed and forced to flee by the alliance of the navy and the blackbeard pirates or even potentially the red hair pirates? In your eyes would that be considered ending in failure or victory given that they would still have to come back and rid wano of another potentially external force put in charge? Or would this be another reason to leave Yamato in Wano while they continued the journey to one piece which will eventually lead to the final war that will effectively free wano with the outcome? What about if the ancient giants and the oni are in fact the same thing but simply some Giants mated with normal humans and so the normal course of evolution brought them to reduce their size?
I feel like while the Ancient Giants and the Onis are almost definitely connected, I can't really get behind this "natural selection" idea. Feels a little too finicky for a shounen series. Another possibility is that the Onis are the result of crossbreeding with other races, and therefore gradually getting smaller. Like maybe a typical Oni nowadays is only 1/16 Ancient Giant or something.
I also think that classifying all the Tobiroppo as Oni is a huge stretch. We already know that all of the Gifters' horns are fake, so I think it's reasonable to assume that most of the Tobiroppo's horns are as well. Sasaki is a Fishman so he probably isn't an Oni, plus his horns seem to clearly be part of his hat. Page One's horns also look like they're part of his hat, and if his are fake then his sister's probably are too. Based on coloration, Who's Who's horns are probably part of his headgear as well. The only Tobiroppo I think is likely an Oni is Black Maria, since her horns are clearly natural and she's huge.

Definitely think there is a connection between Oni and ancient giants. Though not sold on Moria and the like being Onis. Kaido's speech builds thing up like being an Oni is a big deal, would feel a little inconsistent since it was never a major plot point before with any of the characters people think might be Oni. I wouldn't be mad at it per say, but would feel like a story detail Oda decided to add in after the fact.

the idea that's been on my head is that Kaido and a bunch of other humans were experimented on to develop into "Oni". It doesn't necessarily needs to be the marines or WG that did it, but it should be a group of humans.
This fits thematically with past arcs having recurring plots of shadow labs and human experimentation (even Zou and WC have a bit of this, with the chemical weapons and soul tax). Queen gave a hint that it might be possible when he talked about Sanji's flames coming from Lunarian genes.
Kaido knows about pudding's existence. He asked BM about pudding when she asked him to spare Robin's life after killing the Strawhats.

Did we ever get confirmation on what the shadows were in the Florian Triangle during the Thriller Bark arc? It is the first time we saw a ancient giant. But before there was the "giant" shadow hidden in the mists. What if this is were some are hidding.
Do you think that a previous user of Pudding's fruit could have been held by someone that was on the celestial dragons side and used it to wipe out the 100 years that no one seems to know about? Would be a way to get people to forget/alter their memories of the atrocities that happened in order for the celestial dragons to be known as gods to the rest of the world. Could be a potential awakening of Pudding's fruit to be able to alter memories on a mass scale rather than one person at a time.

I can't wait for Luffy himself to share his perspective on the World Government's history once we actually get to exploring it in more detail. His hunt for freedom has always been fairly self-centered, which is ok, but I hope that when we get to the "vs WG" stage of One Piece that Luffy will become a more proactive fighter for freedom of the world from the tyranny the Celestial Dragons have inflicted upon it
The WG will make the fatal error of fucking with someone close to Luffy, like Vivi or Sabo.

I've been Fan of Kaidou being an Oni with a Dragon fruit since the first time we saw Kaidou with his club.

I'm convinced that Oni's and ancient giants are just different names for the same race. Ancient giants are known to be violent, warmongering drunkards by nature and only know how to solve things through violence and brute force.
