For those who don't understand, Boa is a child and her dragon fruit's effectiveness is based on how the owner's beauty affects the target. So those who are turned to stone by S-Snake (SeraphimBoa) are predators since they think the child version of Boa is still beautiful.
Just wanted to state that for the innocent viewers who didn't understand or forgot her devil fruit ability. This is a pretty funny and clever comment that goes under most people's radar.
I like how Vegapunk basically beat all his former colleagues. He perfectly recreated devil fruit abilities and even a devil fruit itself, the task where Caeser failed; he created clones who are supposedly ready to fight within just a year or even less, while Judges clones have to mature for 5 years; even his mechanical technologies and AI are more advanced than what Queen got. Truly a legend.
It's interesting how Oda has had recurring scientists as enemies in order to establish that, as Morj pointed out. Now that's the kind of writing that makes Oda a great mangaka.

Agreed. The World Government were looking pretty weak going into the final saga, always being on the back foot and not having a real intimidation factor for the reader. Luffy & co gets so much shine and advances all their obstacles, so we NEED something good for the bad guys, especially given their failure at the Reverie (just boosting Sabo's character more or less).

The scary thing is not even the current Seraphim but how much further Vegepunk can go. If he keeps this up they could even challenge Emperors at some point and give them a hard time. He has Kaido's DNA and those of tons of other strong people probably as well (Garp, Sengoku, Admirals, Pirates like Roger maybe?!). So this thought is not even far fetched. I don't even wanna imagine how strong they will be close to the end when even Blackbeard was scared of the "current" Seraphim Power and was forced to use Haki against just a simple slash and then Black Hole afterwards cause it got too dangerous
They don't seem to have Haki. I don't think Vegapunk can replicate Haki to a Yonkos level. But seeing that sword slash...I could be totally wrong.

They are not fruit users, so that sword could easily be of kairoseki, and Vegapunk is a master at using those (marine ships only have Kairoseki because of vegapunk), it’s not that unreasonable for them to have it. That added to a power comparable to a yonkou commander’s and a big number of individuals (we are talking about AT LEAST 7 seraphim, if we were to add a copy of every character that ever were a shichibukai plus Kaido, it would be about 15/20 extremely OP Yonkou commander level characters) that’s probably a group that could kill an Yonkou.
Yo, the thematic aspect of this is off the charts. Inherited will is something incorporeal. It's passed on through actions and words from people to people. How fitting the government instead takes only the physical. All that matters is the use, the power, only worthwhile if it stays in line. Instead of a gift from one to another, both given and taken freely, it's instead complete control in service of another. That they would pervert even Roger's vessel is like. Damn.

I think cloning marines is off limits since it could pose some moral dilemmas, as the marines are viewed as a heroes and kinda recognized as individuals, rather than pirates who are seen as a menace and lumped up as evil people

Buggy Seraphim vs Usopp is 100% a battle I want to see. I've joked for years about the idea of a Buggy vs Usopp bullshit battle, and this could be different way of doing that. Imagine a post Elbaf, post Yasopp meeting Usopp facing against a Seraphim with Buggys face and powers. A sniper hitting something with insane speed and the ability to split? The ultimate target.

The two main categories of power are haki and fruit powers. Considering smile is a thing, the idea that they can replicate them isn't far fetched. Haki is will based, and seraphim don't seem to have any will. So how would a Mihawk seraphim cut a mountain in two? With nothing? Maybe just being a Lunarian is a big deal. Or maybe Vegapunk is waffle pressing haki these days.
Zoro had a flying slash attack in Skypiea. Did he use haki to make that attack then? Maybe even though armament haki does enhance the power of an attack, technique alone can enhance a flying slash attack enough that it can cut a mountain.
Maybe the seryphim do have a mind and will of their own somehow, which would get rid of the problem story wise that the seryphims could be very boring antagonists or actually not really antagonists at all.
Excited to see the different versions of the Seraphims. At the same time, I hope it’s not going to be used as a some sort of crutch like Edo Tensei. Most major characters will return for the final war but I don’t wanna see a “ you get a seraphim version he gets a seraphim version everyone gets a seraphim version” type of deal

Yeah, exactly what I've been thinking. There are very few shonen mangaka who have successfully ended their series well - instead creating hype for this giant endgame war that eventually ends up with way more questions than answers. Oda has not disappointed yet and he wrote Marineford extremely well, everyone that mattered got some spotlight and he tied up loose ends quite nicely, so I have faith in him.
For me, the idea to bring back dead characters from earlier in the story and have them fight in the last arc is interesting but I prefer the way Claymore took that concept and twisted it with better results. It introduced 3 characters, who were perceived as the strongest warriors in their history and unleash them for the hell of it. The man behind the experiment wanted to see his greatest achievements.

I do agree that it adds more potential to match-ups but after Wano I'm *extremely* skeptical about how willing Oda is to draw actual fights for all the characters we want. I've already given up on ever having a serious Brook fight, for example. I'll keep my expectations really low for any other character's fight that isn't the monster trio.

@@jjack3136 What also has me thinking is the reaction Nami would have to the seraphim, with the WG basically using child soldiers to fight their battles, think it'd be cool if the seraphim worked like the vinsmoke Brothers, where they do have their own personalities but can be shut off and made to obey their master without question ( since the brothers cannot disobey an order from Judge).
An Ace seraphim could be possible!
The new chapter had a high emphasis showcasing the genetic mixture of the seraphims. We can see Boas DNA must have been taken when she was a slave. However Mihawk does not seem like the type of character to willingly give up his DNA to the world government so there must have been a way to secretly take it from him without noticing it. So these are the foundations to theory with the given information so far.
1. Gene superiority: by the looks of it the world government is interested in the genes of powerful people (the warlords) and genes that grant them abilities (kings race). Ace’s story line was focused on him having the bloodline of the king of the pirates. It would be of interest to have a seraphim with the DNA of the pirate king to serve the world government. Ace was also renowned for his position of the 2nd division commander of the white beard pirates.
2. Warlord theme: the seraphim so far seem to be modeled after the warlords however not all warlords are idea candidates. The world government wanted to kill Moria for being considered too weak. Ace in his rookie years was offered to become a warlord but he refused the offer. This could turn full circle having a seraphim of him serve them now.
3. Ace’s capture: King’s and boa’s captivity lead to them getting their DNA taken. With this logic. They could have taken Ace’s DNA while he was imprisoned in impel down.
4.Effect on Luffy: the world government is after Luffy and a clone of ace would be a perfect weapon to use against him to really mess him up mentally.

Well now that you brought up the idea, I think the idea is not far fetched, but probable. Unless when Ace was captured the government had not thought of the seryphim yet, it would appear to be a plot hole if there was no Ace seryphim.
I mean … they did execute Roger themselves and had him in custody for a while. They could’ve used his body for testing and made a Roger Seraphim. Why go for baby boy when you can have the father ?

The Seraphim are certainly interesting as a fighting force, but I was wondering what kind of mad science took to make them. Since they appear to be clones would they behave like children or just be cold machines, I think it'd be interesting to see the gray morality of Vegapunk, since he did commit harsh experimentation on Kaido and King in the past, imagine a character like Nami reacting to seeing the WG use literal child soldiers.

My main thing bro is what if the boa clone is literally a perfect clone .. If boa dies in its presence of the clone ,will the power go to the nearest fruit its coded for( e.g a pineapple all the time) or go to a familiar body with the same gene code its been inside before the boa clone. Soo thease perfect clones can kill the original and get its power. Crazy theory .. only thing is lunaruan dna won't make it a perfect clone but you get what I mean ?

I kinda expected SSG to be new Pacifista with all kinds of devil fruit that are available to world government, but this introduction of seraphim was amazing.
The funny part is that this is one of the few times we’re I’ve seen the antagonist get stronger in a manga not with power but instead competence. Even if the seraphim aren’t as strong as Lon go as they listen so as their told and consistently perform they outstrip the shichibukai by A LOT. Especially by the fact you don’t have to placate them so no weird giant island boats, ships of women who hate men, weird dudes who only float around in rafts, warlords actively working against you. It’s the biggest win you could ask for just a straight upgrade. Not only that but according to the stories Moria was once on par with kaido which would explain why they accepted him but he fell off due to the death of his crew. Now imagine a Moria with that same potential without the emotional attachment. You’re looking at a team of subservient lunarians several of home could eventually be yonko level threats. That’s DISGUSTING. That more than evens the playing field. The pirating world is under a legitimate threat now.
The most competent villain is easily crocodile or blackbeard imo they both technically were the main antagonist of like whole sagas
And also consider that the Final War isn't gonna be just Pirates vs. Marines. While the Marines are gonna stay as one unit (for the most part, idk about SWORD and Fujitora), the Yonko factions are all gonna be fighting one another and the Marines at the same time. Like, there's no way BB, Cross Guild, and the SH Alliance are gonna cooperate against the WG. The Revolutionaries are obviously gonna be focused on the Marines and nobody else, but they don't have enough forces to remotely match them. Sabo could take out Ryokugyu, and that's as far as they could go. So, Akainu could simply maneuver his forces to divide and conquer against the smaller factions, and whittle them down that way so that they have no chance of defeating him.
So excited to see the future of the seraphim. I know it wouldn't happen but it would be crazy if they got a law seraphim bc even like 10% of his devil fruit power would be insane.
I may be wrong, but I don't think that paramecia and logia type abilities can be cloned, maybe mimicked to some degree but not a 1 to 1 copy like zoans

I love watching Morj's videos. You can tell he has a deep understanding for One Piece's narrative, and a great understanding of characters.
I saw a post somewhere that Fisher Tiger could be a Seraphim that Jinbe could fight, that would be awesome for sure.
The most important thing to realize is that the seraphims may not be as strong as the old warlords but they will always obey orders..and it's better to have many strong characters that listen to every one of your commands rather than a specific number of overpowered characters that aren't as trustworthy as the pacifistas..

Why are we so sure that they will obey orders until the end? If they are based on DNA research, they could develop their own will over time or Vegapunk could "switch" it on or so, since we do not know his motivations and allegiances as well.
One possibility for the Seraphim is that there could be multiple copies a certain unit or there could be Seraphim modeled after other people than just the warlords that we know of. The warlord system lasted for a couple of decades before it was discontinued, how many other warlords were there besides the eleven we know of? There could also be warlord candidates, some of the prisoners of Impel Down, some of the CP9 and CP0 assassins, some of the marines and possibly even the Straw Hats themselves. The one I think is most logical would be for them to make a Seraphim model using Ace, it could be considered kryptonite for someone with immense trauma like Luffy. Imagine him having to fight an inhuman machine that looks like a Ace as a kid, would you be able to fight back at 100%?
Weaker strawhats (Nami, Brook and chopper etc), overcoming a Kuma clone would be good to see.
Seraphims are probably the best addition to the story is a long time. Because of what morj mentioned with potential opponents but they’re also just a really cool culmination of the science of one piece and solidifies vegapunks goated status
I know they were replaced but you're forgetting, the former warlords are now pirates again. Several billion berrie pirates the government made enemies again. That mean any power the new px gave is now directed towards that
A Sir Croc Seraphim with a copy of Sand Sand Fruit will be something to see.
We don't know the timeframe of the seraphims creation and the extracting of the Warlords lineage factors. For all we know they only have the DNA of the ones who were active Warlords during marineford. Narratively there likely isn't a Teach seraphim or a Weevil one.
If they already were taking DNA during Marineford, I don't see much reason why they would not create an Ace seryphim. Unless they are really that afraid of Roger's bloodline.
Kinda terrifying that they potentially have more than just the Shichibukai's DNA, like maybe the entire Impel Down's prisoner's DNA or any prisoners they ever had like Kaido and Roger. Imagine if they have access to all Impel Down's Lvl 6 prisoner's DNA, Magellan's, Shiryu's, Jinbe's, Ace's or even potentially Roger himself

Thanks Morj. The Seraphim kind of remind of the Cell Jr.'s from Dragon Ball. When Cell spurted them out, I was like "sure let's give Yamcha and Tien some advanced fodder to play with.", but they ended up easily beating almost every Z-fighter. Reading it I really felt how the stakes just got a lot higher.

Did they confirm that the seraphims are actually clones? What if they're just modeled after the Warlords and are all as strong as each other? I think it's a power move by the WG to have the pacifistas made to look like the warlords as in "oh look, we can make warlords out of thin air, we don't need them".

Judge can make clones and, considering how far Vegapunk seems to be standing above his former colleagues in terms of genius, it would be surprising if he was not able to do so as well.

I think this is the first confirmed use of haki by Blackbeard too. And now that Koby is finally back in the mix, I'm putting him on Luffy's side taking down the last of Blackbeard's captains, since we still haven't seen the 10th. And the Shaki reveal was so obvious I can't believe I didn't see that coming. The final war is shaping up very nicely!!!

I'm almost more excited to see what else the SSG and Vegapunk have up their sleeves. I'm no trying to label the Seraphim as "weak" (after all, we've only just seen a sliver of their power), but considering not only the Grand Fleet but all of the Starhats allied forces, I still don't see the Marines matching the good guys exactly. Hence why I do think the SSG is has more to show us!

Don't limit your thinking to just the former warlords. They could clone admirals (looking at you, Garp) and prisoners (looking at you, Ace).
I think the SSG is limited to just the Warlords. There is no way Oda would revive Ace, but as a cyborg. That's the worst possible move he could do with this concept.

The funniest thing about Marineford is that absolutely none of the warlords behave, except for Moria who gets knocked off by Doffy anyway. It's so funny that the WG was hyping up the warlords as their puppets adn yet none of them did what they were supposed to do when it mattered. No wonder the wg made clones of them instead! Anyway I'd absolutely love to see matchups of the warlords against their seraphims. I can't imagine any of them would be pleased about it, especially Mihawk, Crocodile and Doffy. It would be pretty epic to see their responses.

Also would want to see how certain characters interact with their seraphim duplicates ( Boa being reminded of her time enslaved, Law seeing his nihilistic kid self, see Crocodile react to his self, if the theory is true that Crocodile was originally born female but transitioned to male thanks to Ivankov, etc.)

You talked before about how Mihawk needs to be shown in a real battle before Zoro goes against him, and I agree with what you said in that video. Perhaps part of the reason they are making the Mihawk Seraphim look so strong right now, is to show Mihawk destroying him later on. Because no matter how hard I try, I can see these copies being imbued with the Strength of the people they are made from, but I cannot imagine them having the skill needed. And if there was ever a disparity between skill vs strength between all of the Shichibukai, it would be Mihawk. Mihawk has amazing strenght, but even beyond that he has top tier skill.
Knowing Vegapunk, this method of cloning could even replicate the warlord’s lineage factor to the point of copying their Devil fruit abilities even if they are logia or paramecia! The boa seraph wouldn’t have used it since she’s a child and the love love fruit is based on attraction towards the user. So that doesn’t rule the possibility that the WG could have these mass produced df wielding powerhouses.
Also, I do believe in order to really have an edge fitting for the final boss opponent of the strawhat alliance, they would in fact still need either multiple clones of each warlord or (the much more interesting option) single copies of other pirates/combatants equal to or above warlord level from the past and/or present like kaido, wb, shanks, etc.

i feel like the seraphim might be a good way to see if the current characters surpassed the old era . lets say they create a roger version which is quite possible considering the WG might have got his body after the execution then maybe someone like blackbeard or shanks defeats it
