Hey John, this is really helpful. So I have something to ask apart from this video. Is it safe to move my PS5 just as long as it's turned off so the disc reader won't get damaged? You see, I'm trying to make cautious of my console because everytime I'm done using it and later I'm going to cover my console to prevent dust which causes a bit to move my PS5.
The first tip is the closest to having a modern day version of the Magnavox Odyssey where the console turns on when a game is inserted.

also, make sure to close the games before putting the ps5 in rest mode if you're not gonna be playing them, otherwise the ps5 gonna draw the regular powerwatts as if you're actually playing and using it!

Perhaps this holds no truth, but I only keep rest mode on when it's nessesary, I feel like it must be bad for a piece of tech like the ps5's longevity if some part of it is always turned on constantly
It is bad for the PS5 when used for long periods of time. That’s why I stopped letting family use my console because nobody would turn it off and by the time I get home it’s been in rest mode for hours and hours. All technology needs a full power off at some point.
Turning it fully off and on all the time is actually worse than keeping it in rest mode.
@@SIPEROTH No, I’m saying leaving it in rest mode all the time instead of just turning it off when you’re done is worse. It’s only bad if you constantly turning your console fully on and off in close intervals. If you play the console for a few hours and power it down for a few hours it’s much better for your console.
@@highdeff17i dont know if you knew this but if you turn off all the rest mode features like power supply for charging controllers, remote play and turn off stay connected to internet in rest mode, the ps5 should remove the rest mode entirely so when the ps5 turns off because of inactivity or when touching the buttton the ps5 1 time to turn off it actually fully turns off instead of rest mode. If you already knew that then this comments is for someone else who didn't. Also, i said "it should" because thats how the ps4 worked, i haven't tested it in the ps5

i have a question does the normal ps5 that comes with the disk drive have the voice command feature as well or is it just on the ps5 slim or is it that i have to turn on some other features in order to use that feature

John for some odd reason my sony 4K UHD 120 HZ Tv doesn’t allow 1440P support. As well as whenever i turn on the PlayStation 5 it takes about 15 seconds for the tv to go from a dark screen to the ps5 input. Same goes for selecting a game i want to play. Can you please help me with resolving these issues i experience almost every day. Thanks 👍🏻.🎉
it going dark is the screen changing resolution or frame rate, when you open 120fps supported games it will go dark and switch to 120 fps
Just select 4k for you tv's resolution... 1440p is stupid if you have higher resolution available, the PS5 is going to downgrade internal resolution and upscale regardless to sustain 60fps.
This isn't a high end gaming PC so don't expect it to act like one.

what about EJECT DISC on disc version? How do you KEEP IT THERE?
Only temporary fix I found is to completely turn off the PS5 instead of setting it to Rest Mode. Not exactly sure when it would properly be fixed.
@@diorsawaaj it's on every console since ps2, but I guess WOKE ASS SONY has more important things to do!
@@clackman622 I've also encountered an issue where the PS5 Slim will turn on and not show an image. I have to turn the system completely off and then turn it back on. It's done it about three times now

No its the dualsense edge controller. Worse battery life, and grippers that end up with bubbles and peel off. Essentially paying all that money for two back paddles and adjustable triggers.

Yup
You can store PS5 games on external, you cannot play them because they require FAST SSD, you can upgrade an additional SSD internal that can play PS5 games.
You can store and play directly PS4 games from external drive just as on PS4 and PS3, they will load the same speed.

Anyone got an idea why my PS5 suddenly stopped turning on TV when I start it up via controller? Everything is the same, cables, tv, settings... CEC in TV is enabled.

Yes and no. There are different settings that you can disable to save on power. I think Sony reported that at its lowest, the power consumption is 0.35 W, with about 3.5 W with all features enabled (supplying power to USB ports, staying connected to the Internet, Auto-Updates, and I forgot what else)
Waking up from rest mode is still borked. Takes me several attempts to wake up the console when I push the PS logo button on the controller. I wish they had a faster method to shut off the console which doesn't involve scrolling along the command center. It's so much faster to power off on the Xbox consoles.

Thanks John, but can you PLEASE do a video on how to permanently disable Family and Parental controls on my PS5? I play Destiny 2 and for some odd reason, I keep getting blocked from communication features. VERY annoying as I have to go to Family parental controls, input my 4 digit code and then I can TEMPORARILY disable console restrictions. This happens every few days. The fix only lasts for a day or two and then I have to do it again.
Is there any way to PERMANENTLY disable Family and Parental controls? I'm not alone in having this problem, as I see people have been complaining about this online since launch and no solution other than the temporary one I mentioned above.. There are no kids in my home and it is extremely annoying to have to keep doing this. So much so, that I have taken to playing Destiny 2 on my Series X more often even though I like the PS5 controller, features, etc., much better.

It releases most likely near the end of 2024. Same settings would apply to it but way more powerful in terms of graphics, performance and features wise according to an article.
Is it risky or not recommend to leave the PS5 in rest mode for very long periods of time?
I have my ps5 on rest mode all the time but then again I have it connected to a battery backup. I also try to turn it off once a day within a week.

Man, screw that feature. I always had to go in and remove it even if I manually closed the game....basically having to close everything twice. Series X was my worst exp in gaming. MS is lame AF. If Sony takes anything from MS, it should be all of their customers..AND THAT'S IT.

Just buy a gaming PC, it's better for the money and you'll have no regrets, building one or getting second hand can save you some to get better hardware.
Since you've taken this long to *not* get a PS5 you may as well get something more versatile with ability to upgrade as games get better.

My PlayStation randomly turns off after I use an air can I need help how can I fix that
I highly recommend not using an air can as it can shove dust deeper into the console and block passageways even further. Remove the console covers and remove the fan. Then use a vacuum to suck out any dust inside of the console. Clean the fan blades if they're dirty. Lots of videos on CZcams can show you how to properly clean it.
What's most likely happening is that the console is overheating from dust buildup.

@@ShadowFlame420it depends on what type of TV or monitor you have as some are way more consistent than others. With me it was the exact opposite on the ps5 it worked consistently while on the series x it worked 6/10 times until I just turned it off

I heard standing your PS5 is bad for it in the long run bc of the cooling system messing up
It's designed to be stand vertically, there are fans on both sides that push hot air up naturally and out the vents.
If it were laid horizontally hot air would take longer to move sideways.
If you're super interested, there are videos that show heat testing and colored air flow. Educate yourself rather than listening to hearsay.

ps4 does same thing with start up and the disc. and voice commands sounds like a good way to get ban for having a 1st Amendment Right.. bc we all know phones magically know what we say and talk about to a friend in person while not on our phones then when we open an app and somehow there is an ad for that same thing that was just talked about to that friend..

I dont recommend rest mode specially f ur console is not well ventalated or ur room is dusty also f ur area is prone to blackouts. Just turn it off for safety of ur console, data and maybe ur house
unfortunately we are in an era where everything is on standby because people are soo busy now and have sooo little time to wait a few seconds till something starts. Everything must be on demand. So spoiled people these days are. Some don´t even pull out their phone chargers out of the outlet, so basically keep it "standby" to save time to plug it in again.
This is why I always get annoyed when my family would use my PS5 and leave it on without turning it off when they’re done. Sometimes I’m gone several days to over a week and find out my console has been in rest mode for however long. I stopped letting them use my console when I’m not home. Dust, overheating, data errors, and file issues can happen by leaving the console in rest mode for extended periods of time.

srsly these kind of things are what make the society more and more lazy and dependent (that explains also why a lot of people think these tips are so special or well hidden or whatever because they were just to lazy to look through the basic settings at least once...) For a lot of people its already too much to get up and switch the Disc... all of these features only save little seconds but the damage over time is massive. I would never use any of these shown here in the video beside the auto login since its basically the default thing on every Sony Console so far and I always use only one account.
